  1. I had my pre op labs drawn in april (super early bc im inpatient) and my Iron saturation was "low" at 12% no big deal, started taking the iron +vit c BariMelts to get in a good routine for post op.

Went last week to get redrawn and low and behold my iron saturation dropped to 8%? Everything else comes back "normal".

Should I be worried? Anyone else have this pro orpost op?

  2. I think I am going to do sleeve. I say "think" because I was very sure that's what I wanted but the more research I do, I am starting to lean towards RNY. I think it might be better for me with the amount of weight I need to lose. My surgeon said it's pretty much up to me since I do not have any underlying health issues (which I'm very grateful for). Are you doing RNY?

I am doing the rny for a few reasons. Mostly my acid reflux and needing to lose 150#

  4. Congrats! The time will go by fast. I started in February and have my tentative surgery date of August 20th. The only thing I have left to do is my endoscopy which is next Friday and my monthly nutritionist visits. Best of luck to you!

I just did my endoscopy today! I was so worried but it wasnt bad at all! I woke up from anesthesia laughing my butt off! I hope they give me a tentative date soon! I can't wait for a countdown ticker!

  5. So I had completed my bariatric seminar 2weeks ago, that is required prior to meeting surgeon that is more like an informational session.

Had my first appointment with nutritionist and surgeon today! Had the run down of the entire process. Have my appointment for endoscope for April 13th. Walk in clinics for my labs, ekg and chest xray. Have my psych eval scheduled in April and my fist "medical supervised weight loss appointment" thisFriday.

I'm so excited. Feels kind of surreal. I made a few changes in my life recently knowing this is all for a healthier me. I've started drinking ONLY Water, at least 64oz a day. I've also quit smoking/consuming alcohol.

Origionally I was stressed over the 6months thing but honestly I'm kind of happy I have that time to mentally prepare and make changes.

    Hoping for Sept surgical date!20171222_080031.jpg

I also can't wait to havr new comparison photos to show progress!

  6. My insurance company had the same requirement, but I was unable to fulfill it since I had not visited any doctors offices or clinics in the three preceding years (I was uninsured from 2010 to 2014).
I provided self-reported weights to fill in the gaps and this sufficed enough for the insurance company to approve payment for the sleeve.

You guys mind me asking which insurance?

  7. Hello,
My surgery was Dec. 13 and I’m down 57 pounds. It’s been really rough for me. I had a leak and almost died and I’m still recovering. I’m improving little by little, very slowly.
My weight loss has been good, and I’m really happy with it. I’ve just hit my first stall, but I know to just keep working on it and it will eventually pass.

Did you have rny? How did you find out you had a leak? I'm so scared of that!

  8. The cost of the surgery doesn't matter as much as your out of pocket maximum.
Example: the hospital can charge 1 million for my surgery, I don't have to pay 20% of that. I am responsible for my deductible and co-pays ONLY up to the out of pocket maximum. Check what that is for you.
Also, I am familiar with Priority Health and they typically make you jump through a few hoops first. I would get started on the process right away.

Thabk you! I did finally talk to the surgeon. They explained my insurance and i feel a lot better. They also have payment arrangements if need be.

I know i will have to do the 6 month supervised weight loss as well as egd and other pre op stuff. I go Meet with surgeon And nutritionist again March28th to get the entire process moving :D
