  1. Thanks
Gran7 reacted to Luvabull2 in Secret sleevers?!
I had actually only told 3 friends. My boyfriend was the last to know because I knew he would not be supportive. He has never struggled with his weight, and does not understand how it feels. I had my surgery on 3/7, and he has been trying to be supportive, but it is not easy for him.
  2. Thanks

The dreaded stretched sleeve debate..lol I'm going to copy my response and keep posting it.
What you are describing is normal for the sleeve. It's not "stretched" this is the progression out from surgery.
    The restriction is still there.
After surgery your restriction is tight. The restriction will change.
Surgery few oz Might get 600+ calories first few months 4 oz five months to a year 6 oz to 8 oz 1200+ calories One year out half a plate. five to ten years a full plate "Grazing" is usually the cause of weight gain. You have a new point of volume and sensation of full. If you eat high calories throughout each day . (calories can be combination of good and bad food choices) It's the same effect as if you didn't have surgery. An excess of 500 calories will cause you to gain weight.
    A tip that may help:
Try eating every 2 to 3 hours. Protein first and eat vegetables until the point of full. The bulk and Fiber of the veggies will help with hunger.
I can eat 5 to 6 oz of protein with a cup and a half of chopped salad. takes a while to eat but, it keeps my weight down and I feel full.

Medical professional explanation to back this up below:
Dr. Matthew Weiner Published on Mar 16, 2015 "Stomach Stretching" is the term used by many weight loss (Bariatric) surgery patients to explain the changes in their appetite and food consumption after surgery. Dr. Weiner explains what's really happening and how to prevent it.

Gran7 reacted to Brandi. in 4 Weeks post op - I don’t want to do this anymore [emoji25][emoji25][emoji25]
I’m back to post another update. My endoscopy only lasted EIGHT days before the stricture returned. This time I knew I would soon be a vomiting lethargic mess. So, I got in to the GI 3 days after it returned and by day 5 I was under for another endoscopy. Well that was on 2/1/18. I had a follow up with my surgeon on 2/5/18 and felt great. I was actually eating more than just Water. Well guess what guys! Today is 2/6/18 and the stricture has returned. That’s right. The balloon stretch only lasted 4 days .

My surgeon and I discussed all of my options yesterday if this were to happen again. We both decided if it lasted only a few weeks (now days) then we would convert from a sleeve to a bypass. If this last procedure had lasted longer we would have done it again, but I can’t keep taking off of work for the procedures and not to mention they are costly.

I’m hesitant to call my doctor and relay the bad news. Partially because I don’t want it to be my reality. But I have to do what’s going to make me better long term.
Wish me luck? Give advice? Idk anymore lol

    Thanks for reading

    Hey girls!
I'm 10 years out, BUT....I dyed my hair the entire way through. I'm now a bottle blonde and it hasn't made much difference. My hair texture and fullness changed after surgery -- even when it did grow back. But I think whatever makes you feel great about you during this transtion is totally worth it!!
I made a YouTube video about it Check it out if you feel like it Otherwise, good luck!

Do me a favor. When you are 8 weeks post-op, buy some vanilla pepsi. Set it out so it goes flat, then taste it. I'll bet $20 that you'll be willing to kill a bus full of nuns to NOT have to drink that stuff ever again!!!
Oh, and congrats on your surgery! Good luck!

    @jess9395 I you. The end.
So I am doing PT. It's hard as ****! LOL. Sad. But true. I break a sweat, doing 2 reps of 10 with a band, when doing hip flexor work. But I notice after 12 visits, although my neuralgia, arthritis and bursitis pain is still intense and is mostly unimproved, I do have better balance and more endurance. I will keep livin' the dream and may eventually find my way to a gym so a trainer can show me the ropes...cuz if I stay at home, I know I won't push myself.
My philosophy? f**k you! Don't look at me if you don't want to laugh with me! But um, just sayin...

I have a simple answer for me - before surgery I was on 9 different pills and a shot a day to keep my blood sugar, blood pressure, gout, and cholesterol under control. My doctor was ready to put my on insulin. Since surgery - not a single pill or shot. NOT A SINGLE ONE!! All of my numbers are normal or below normal - and have been that way since about a week after surgery. Enough said. I plan to be around to watch my son grow up and grow old with my wife...previously, I doubt I could have made that reality.
