That sounds awesome!!! LOL You guys are gonna have a blast!! Right on!!!
  7. My face looks thinner. And maybe my shoulders.
  8. I am 2.5 weeks out and yesterday I grudgingly walked around a mall all day with my friend. I drank what I thought was enough water, but today I woke up and my calves were sore - like a dehydrated sore. I did not get enough water in and my urine was darker than usual. Yeah, no pain in the abdomen, but make sure you REALLY drink your 64 oz water goal everyday.
  9. I chewed on chicken and spit it out. I ate a bunch of mashed potatoes I shouldn't have. I don't even know how it all fit in my new stomach. I miss food, I miss chewing food. This is all very, very hard. But we are both still new out of surgery. I realize now that it's going to take a lot more time to adjust to this than I thought it would. It reminds me of when I first put my puppy in her kennel. She would crrrrrrrrrrry, oh good lord she would cry. She stopped crying but then she'd chew her beds to bits. Now, her kennel is her comfort zone. She got used to it and is no longer scared or anxious. It is her new normal. Kind of a silly analogy, but I hope ppl get my point. It takes time to train your brain, it won't happen overnight or even in the 6 weeks post op. ....sooooo, I'm gonna try not to worry too too much.

    The scale has moved!![emoji1430]

    Hahaha, congratulations!!!
  11. Couldn't take my meds either. It was at the point where I would hate yogurt and pudding for the rest of my life if I continued to mix my meds in them. Doctor said it was okay to forgo the gallbladder medicine. I called my shrink to get my usual prescription in an orally dissolvable tablet. My insurance didn't cover it and they wanted $800 for a month's supply. I'm off two meds so far until I can swallow tablets. I've got 2.5 weeks to go. It's insane. I hear you!! Gas X strips were useless on me too! Started taking children's dose of milk of magnesia twice a day and my cramping and bloating finally went away in about two days. Wasn't getting enough water in either. I started drinking out of a 24 oz tumbler with a straw (big no no) and found that I drink my crystal light water like it's Diet Coke. LOL For some reason the tumbler and straw have helped me reached my water goals. I didn't think it would be this difficult. Once I think I have something down, I need to figure something else out. Everything feels so up in the air - Well, I'll try this, and ok, let's see what happens if I do this..nope, gotta try something else. It's such new ground and there's no way for us to predict how our bodies will react to anything right now. It's very frustrating when at the same time we need to follow guidelines from the surgeon.

Going on 20 years post op

I know 20 lbs doesn't seem like a lot relatively speaking, but 20 lbs over your target weight is a significant amount. I'm sorry about your cravings to binge eat. I COMPLETELY hear you there. I am worried about this very issue myself. If this were happening to me, I'd probably have to talk to a therapist about my eating and join a support group. It sounds like you know all the right things to do and you're successful when you put your mind to it. It's just keeping those binge/craving sessions at bay. I see these commercials for a prescription medication that controls cravings (by altering hormones or neurotransmitters?) for people who are overweight. I wonder if in the history of gastric bypass that there exists any person who is also taking a prescription med to control cravings. That would be interesting to know.

    Carbs per Day?

Okay, I'm glad you told me that. I bought these "single serving" instant mash potato cups by Idahoan that literally take 1 minute to microwave for mushy goodness. It's 40 carbs and I ate one over about a two hour period. I knew it was probably not a good thing to eat. And the recommended serving size in my surgery booklet say 2 tablespoons. Wuhhh? I can eat way more than that. I've always had a problem stopping eating, so this is obviously something I have to change right now. Ughhhhh.

    nosebleeds?

That is so peculiar! Any chance of renovations in the office or at home? Or any chemicals in the air somewhere? I'm curious to see if anyone's experienced this too!
  18. Congratulations on your decision! As you can read from this forum, this is an exciting time in your life now. It will change for good and for the better. Did you have friends that did it or did you come across this on your own?

    Hiatal hernia and sleeve surgery

Have you already spoken to other bariatric doctors? It would make me nervous too that he said he wouldn't touch someone with a hiatal hernia. That just sounds so unusual. I guess he won't be doing your surgery. Maybe you can find a great doctor who will put you at ease and take care of both the sleeve and your hernia - like most bariatric surgeons do. There's really no need to worry. I think you're making the right choice and now you need to move forward with someone else.
  20. Yay! I hope they help! I'm gonna look for those myself now.

    Hiatal hernia and sleeve surgery

The nurse at my consultation told me that in her 2 years of working there, she's only seen 4 patients that did NOT have a hiatal hernia. She said most obese people have them and don't know it. I was sure I didn't because I had a low BMI (34). But you know what? I had one too. For me, it drastically lowered the cost of my sleeve surgery. Because my insurance didn't cover WLS, I imagine that a hiatal hernia would be covered and it lowered my out of pocket cost for the sleeve since being performed at the same time. I really didn't ask questions because I was relieved I didn't have to sell my right leg to get surgery. Haha. My doctor said he performs sleeve gastrectomies with hiatal hernia repairs all the time.

    Belching and flatus!

I got very bad pain when I'd swallow anything. The doctor pushed on my abdomen in different areas and asked if any area hurt and I said no. He said I'd be fine! I was kinda pissed because I'm wondering, uhhh, how am I supposed to drink water then? All he'd say is "sip slowly". All I heard was "pain slowly". So I thought, whatever. I'm just gonna have to push through. The pain didn't come as frequent the next day and the next day...but it was at least a week before it completely stopped. So yeah, I drank through the pain. It SUCKED. I probably only got in about 20 oz day 1 an day 2, and finally hit 32 on day 3. I was ok.
  23. I'm two weeks post op from the sleeve and a hiatal hernia repair. Sometimes when I swallow, I hear and feel a gurgling in my esophagus. It lasts two or three seconds and then stops. Anyone having this?

    Getting Sleeved Monday 03/19/18

No pain when I woke up except a sore throat. No catheter. I was very out of it and I slept on and off comfortably till the next day (I had morphine in my IV..hehe). They will not want you to be in pain. The nurses will be bothersome if you just want to sleep though. They come in and out of your room ...what seemed like every hour or so. They come in to make you get up and walk, to make you use a spirometer, to go to the bathroom, take blood, see how you're doing, status..etc. Ugh. I wanted to lock my door. LOL
