Those who are on psych meds, bi-polar, anxiety, depression.

Nope! And I don’t have the side effects SSRIs and SNRIs gave me. So this is truly my miracle drug. -

I was diagnosed by one doc with major depression. Then two years later diagnosed by my current doc with BP II. I honestly don’t believe I have BP II, but he put me on Lamotrogine 300mg and it completely changed my life. I made sure with my surgeon that I could continue the Lamotrogine because it’s a deal breaker if I can’t. He said I should have no problems, so I’m preparing myself for another life change! -
Thank you! I am really nervous as well Reading your post makes me feel better about my surgery next week. Hope you are still rockin’ it!!

What is a Center of Excellence?
logicwand replied to logicwand's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you so much for all this info! I knew my doctor had a laundry list of certifications, accreditation, and fellowships. But I wasn't sure if the hospital was a CoE. I now see that it is. In fact, my doctor performs surgery only at CoEs apparently. Wow, I feel even more confident going forward with this surgery. -
Here I thought I extensively researched this surgery and the best doctors in my city. But I keep reading in posts about “centers of excellence” and I have no idea what that is!!! How do I know if my hospital is one? Or if my surgeon is affiliated with one? Oh dear, I hope I have chosen a reputable place!

Does your stomach feel normal?
logicwand replied to logicwand's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ohhh I've heard about the itching. And I also have stressed induced eczema. So I probably need to buy enough Benadryl like I had five kids. LOL (j/k...I think.) This is such a great tip! -

Wow. That totally makes me feel better. Thank you for sharing! I hope my experience is just like yours! [emoji2] -
Kakat, this is an outrage. I am so sorry this is happening to you! It is their obligation to tell you your health conditions and their concerns. If they don’t tell you what’s going on, I’d of course be fuming mad, but also question the kind of operation they’re running. Grab your paperwork and run, girl. I would definitely get started with one of the other hospitals and even tell them what has happened. You’re in my prayers sweetie. And don’t you fret. You will have surgery....with or without your original hospital.

I, too, am starting to get really anxious. Like, holy sh*t I’m putting myself under the knife to remove part of an organ?? Oh good word, I will need all the strength I can get to follow through. I cannot let my anxiety get the best of me. And I know if I dont do this now, I’ll be sorry I didn’t 10 years from now. I would kick myself in the pants and regret my inaction. But when I think about actually getting the surgery, my hands get sweaty and my heart beats so fast. I also start itching my hands because I have stress induced eczema. Good grief I’m a mess!!

Just what I was hoping to hear!! -
At 41, I never expected to deal with advanced osteoarthritis. I have degenerative disc disease and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Ankles, knees, wrists, hips, back, and neck hurt every. single. day. A large part of my decision to have this surgery is to alleviate some of my joint pain. Have any of you with osteoarthritis felt a difference after surgery? I’d love to hear your story.

Lauren, I can’t thank you enough for posting this. I’m also a worrier and probably a hypochondriac. Seeing blood makes me weak and want to faint. I’m writing a letter to myself to hold and read and reread on the day of surgery to push me to go through with it. I’m so worried they’ll wheel me into the operating room and I’ll say, STOP!!! Take me out of here! I’ve made a mistake! As my surgery date approaches (Feb 28). I am constantly reminding myself how I need to do this and to not be scared. Your post has made me feel so much better!!! I will definitely read your post again on my surgery day. Sooooo glad you are doing so well and you are happy again!!

Wow, all of your posts are so comforting!!! I’m starting to panic as the 28th is quickly approaching. But these posts have made me both laugh (kakalady) and feel so much better. Many thanks!! [emoji9]

Wow! You look great! Thanks for posting your progress!

Good word. I haven’t even gotten sleeved yet (Feb 28) and I’m already starting to miss food when I watch Dominos commercials, Applebee’s, Wendy’s, and countless others with sizzling food, cheese and drizzled sauces. How do y’all handle this when watching TV? I’m sure I’m going to retrain my brain very slowly and eventually I won’t think anything of it. Or at least I hope. Maybe you don’t crave these foods anymore and they begin to look so unhealthy and gross? But it’s so distracting right now!

Oh, and I meant I have DVR. Lol [emoji12]

Wow. Thats a really good point. I forget to think that life needs balance and it can’t be too constricted or else you risk being miserable. Thanks for that insight!!
