  1. If you have been on weight watchers that's one my insurance took and I didn't have to prove it.

Unfortunately I was stuck in the, "I can do this on my own " ,"I'm not THAT bad" or " what will people think?" So I never did anything publicly. The closest I ever did was my fitness pal but I would get frustrated and not stick with it for a long enough time. But my last Dr appointment and hearing that a friends brother, who was only a couple years older than me just died of a massive heart attack due to his weight...45 days after getting married :( this was a huge wake up call and I need to do something for me and my family.

  2. Same boat! I told my hubby, my mom (who I had to explain a lot till she realized I wasn't just/could jumping in. I told my bestie who lost over 100 on her own and it was awkward, she was supportive but I could almost read the thoughts in her mind. When I told my sister all I got at first was "hmmmm". I found out last night one of my friends on FB had it done, never knew that so I have been chatting with her and someone I know that went through it and it helps. I just found this app today and I can't begin to tell you how much it's helping! :) good luck!!!

  3. Dont be nervous. Just go in learn as much as you can be honest with them and yourself. I didnt receive like a diet plan she just gave me pointers. My issue was i went long stretches with out eating and when i ate i ate a lot. So my dietitian wanted me to eat more frequent small healthy meals. From what i got out of it they just want to learn your pattern correct anything that your doing wrong. Seeing if you may or may not have an eating disorder or any type of emotional eating. You will do great! Im excited for you for taking the first step! Woohoo

My issue is I am always hungry. I can eat till satisfied and 30 mins later I'm starving. I have tried drinking Water when I feel hungry, changing my activities but no matter what I'm still hungry. I ate the other night till I ended up being in pain but I was still hungry. Hoping the sleeve will help with the reduction of ghrelin being produced.

  4. Yes, i have to do a medically supervised weight managment plan for 6 months. Basically i have 1 appt for 6 months. Each appt is different. Im 4-5 months in now. First month i did a weigh in met with the surgeon he explain the process to me(oct). The next month i met with a psychologist(nov). The next i had a group nutrition class after that i met 1 on 1 with the nutritionist (same month.dec) i met with the nutritionist again in jan. She signed off on me to take the surgical courses. This month i met with psychologist again she signed off for me to take the surgical course as well. In march i have my final 3 appts. The surgical courses. A nutrition class for post surg. And to meet with a workout trainer (not required). Then im not sure what happens after that i think ill meet with surgeon again in april and hopefully submit for approval. Do not miss an appointment some people have to start the 6 month process all over if 1 month is missed.

That's what I was told. I'm just nervous and can't wait to see what the dietician says next week. The surgeon will not even do the first consult with me till after I do my 6 months

  5. Yeah I think it's a common one, we've ALL heard "you need t o exercise more, push yourself away from the table" and one of my personal favorites." You're not trying". Walk in my stretched out shoes a little ways. My PCP put me on a weightloss drug last October, I GAINED weight. He agreed with what i had been saying -'I needed Bariatric surgery, wrote a letter of recommendation for me to give to my surgeon at the first visit. He is still one of my biggest supporters on my weight loss journey, wants to,be kept updated. I will be having a RnY early-mid March at Mount Carmel in Columbus Ohio at the tender age of 72. But I'm going to make a success of tjis, it is my last best hope for the future.

Age is but a number...good for you!!! I tried meds a few years ago (wish I was that "over weight" again lol) and it sent me to the hospital by ambulance because my heart was racing so much. I have super fit sisters and I hinted at my plans to one of them and just got a hmmmmm... well, I'm doing this for me not them! And I honestly can't wait to be smaller so I can do 5ks with them, and ride my bike with my kids or run with the dog or do anything without pain. I want to free the skinny chick inside, to make my reflection match who I actually feel like! :)

  6. No never. [emoji6] lol. You should go read my blog here.
Do you have co-morbidities that are recognized by your insurance? Does your surgeon have any weight loss rules for their patents? I had to lose 5% of my weight. When I met her I was 256 and am now at 227, 6 days into my liquid pre-op 2 week countdown.
It's a roller coaster journey. But you seriously have to know what your rules are on the BMI thing or that could legitimately happen to you.

I talked to the clinic and she said I have to do my 6 months, then go to a seminar and two support meetings before getting the first consult with the surgeon. Then he will order more tests depending on medical history. The BMI ranges fell right in line with what the insurance said. My PCP is currently testing me for other co-morbidities at the next appointment on 3/2

  7. Hey all! I'm just starting my Pre Op journey. I meant with my PCP last week, had blood work and eval with PT this morning and meet the dietician next week. Already talked to my insurance and the clinic and I have to do a 6 month medically supervised plan before getting approval. My BMI is 43.39 and I am starting to have issues, hence why I had the talk with my PCP, and want to take a stand before it gets higher. All other efforts on my own just see the scale going higher and higher. I have so many fears right now, not wanting to tell people because I get the "you can do it on your own " (obviously I can't lol) or just the judgemental looks. But I have this fear that I will go through the 6 months and loose just enough to put me outside that window of qualifying but still be over weight. Has anyone ever had this fear?
