    Alcoholic Beverages

We learned in class to beware of alcohol. While most of us use food as a soother, after surgery we turn to alcohol. Alcoholism jump a significant amount in post-surgery patients. Be careful...you didn't go through ALL THIS just to drink it back on! Plus...do you really need to? Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

  4. I woke up in no pain, and slept for hours. I remember them telling me I have to go home in 24 hours and thinking, " How the heck am I going to do THAT!" I was not feeling good enough, but each hour I felt better and better. Got up to walk, him to the bathroom, and by the time I had to go home , it was easier. I knew I'd sleep easier at home, too. Using a pillow and heating pad in your stomach works wonders! Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

    First nights at home

Yes, I slept in my back, and woke up every few hours for water and then to go to the bathroom! There is no way I could sleep on my back, to much pulling in my stomach. I did put a lot of pillows behind my head, ran the humidifier (big help), and put a pillow on my stomach. I the pillow on my stomach when I sit down, or start to walk. It just feel better! Also a heating pad set in low helps a lot too! Good luck, I just had surgery Monday! Harder than I thought! Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. I wasn't expecting so much exhaustion and pain. Honestly, everything they told me about fluid intakes have gone right out of my mind, thank goodness they gave me paperwork, but Im so fuzzy, I am scared I will mess something up. The 1st night every time I woke up I said to myself, "What did you do to yourself?" Lol! Hopefully pain is better tomorrow. I was up every 3 hours peeing or getting ice chips because the air was so dry. Miserable night... Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. 3 days in for me, and tonight I finally felt better. Make sure you are seeing an improvement daily. Every day you should feel a bit better. Once I stopped taking pain meds (reduced them) I felt an improvement Ditto on the food, though. Nothing appeals to me at all. Just look out for increased pain. *this morning I had dry heaves and was terrified, so pushed a pillow on my stomach. The heating pad and pillow are lifesavers!! 9. Thanks so much! I feel like I've been hit by a bus. I am SUPER active (7 kids) and easily walk 10K steps daily. Now, I m just trying to heal and get enough liquids so I don't get dehydrated! Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Safe to sleep on stomach?

Thanks everyone! Last night I pressed a pillow on my stomach and turned over just halfway. It was a relief, even for 30 minutes Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

  12. Water and broth seems to be all I want! I just started the protein shakes today with high protein milk, but they seem to cause a bit of pain/uncomfortable after drinking. No to mention I messed up pain meds and was just taking half a dose! [emoji12] Thats better now, so...still sipping all day! Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Surgery, “it’s the easy way.”

Ugh! I told my Mom and Sister, neither one was encouraging! I told them both after that I wasn't sure was going to do it (I was!) Just to get them off my back. I just told my Mom yesterday I am having surgery Monday! She was surprised! I think she was just nervous, both of them. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

    If it's God's will...

Well...THIS escalated quickly! Given my screen name, I will graciously bow out of the religious rabbit trail this post took, and simply ask - are you headed for surgery still on Valentine's Day? Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

  23. I am going in for my pre-op next Monday, and I'm getting excited, and nervous! I have been working on this journey since last April. My biggest concern is my young family. I have 7 children at home: 3 teens, and a 7, 6, 4, and 1 year old. The teenagers are fabulous and help out great! However the 4 year old has to be driven to/from school,(will I be able to?) and I need helpful ideas on the 1 year and getting her in/out of her crib. She is only 15 months old, and won't stay in a toddler bed! Initially we had scheduled surgery to coincide with the kids February vacation, my husband has that week off as a teacher. However the surgeon was on vacation, so it has to be the week before! Should I keep my daughter (age 14) out of school for a few days? Honestly I have no idea how much pain I will be in. Just looking for honest help! Thanks so much! Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Getting excited!

It's his first year teaching, to request another whole week off before school vacation might not get his contract renewed next year! I was trying so hard to coincide it with school vacation too! But I DID find out my oldest son is moving to 2nd shift, so that may take care of my issue!! Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app
