  1. I have been going to group and one suggestion was to ground yourself before you speak or react. Some suggested pressing your toes into towards the ground and touching your legs or hugging yourself to recenter before responding. Not sure if it will help, but offering as an alternative.

    VLCD preop

I was on a low carb diet, 100g carbs a day. I started 3 months prior to surgery (per Aetna). I had lost 28lbs prior to surgery on that pre-op diet and it was wonderful. It gave me the confidence that I have what it takes to make it through the process after surgery. I also was on a liquid diet pre-op for 2 weeks before surgery to reduce my fatty liver. You've got this!

1 Week Post Op - Rash

I have had something like this before and was told it was fungal. My doc told me to use lotrimin on it for a week. I would call your doc and see what they recommend.

    Wahoo! BMI < 40

Way to go! That is a huge accomplishment. I can't wait until I am celebrating this milestone with you.
  6. I didn't really tell many people. I told my parents and my in-laws. I was guilted into telling them by my husband. I felt forced to tell my SIL and BIL at Easter and boy did I feel ashamed when I did. I felt sick about it during and afterwards. My manager at work also knows as he has been incredible with allowing me time off for all the appointments. I don't want to deal with others judging me. Maybe at some point I will feel more comfortable about it. Heck, I have lost 45 lbs since Nov and not a single person has said, hey, have you lost weight? Not a single person. My clothes are baggy too. All in all, I am happy with my progress and I feel that is the only person who's opinion that really matters.
  7. The saw a small hiatal hernia when I did the preop testing. Surgeon said I had a very large one once he went in and saw it during surgery. He fixed it right up and honestly I took pain meds the night I came home but haven’t taken anything afterwards, not even Tylenol. Surgeon said it is extremely common.
  8. I was sleeved/hernia repair on 3/16. I am down 16 lbs as of today and feel good other than being more tired than normal. I am walking at least 30 min a day, sometimes outside when the weather cooperates (it is snowing at the moment). My stomach still seems swollen but I am enjoying many firsts these days. I have lost 41 lbs overall and have been able to get into clothes and shoes that were too tight before. I was going to wear this cute white dress I purchased and had only worn once. My husband giggled when I put it on and told me it looked like I was wearing a huge napkin. I had to agree! My second choice was MUCH better. I have been going up and down 2 lbs for the past week. I am not very good at drinking but I am getting about 50oz water/protein drinks. I am doing great with protein and am on pureed foods. I have found my stomach can handle everything so far. I still am having issues with vitamins making me want to vomit, but I was able to stomach the iron chew last night for the first time, so that was a win too. I have had dreams the surgeon didn't remove enough of my stomach or didn't even do the surgery because eating seems too easy. I am looking forward to the next lbs to start dropping off. I want the new me now!

    Gurgling Anyone?

I am 3 weeks post-sleeve and my stomach gurgles very loudly as well. My hubby told me he could hear it across the room. A little tummy noises are worth it! No one at work has mentioned anything so it must not be too loud. LOL

    How slow are you eating?

I am eating to where it is comfortable for me. If I take a bite too fast or too big, I definitely know that I have because I get pains in my chest. I was sleeved on 3/16 and my meals are generally around 30-45 minutes. I talk a lot between bites! LOL

    Not sleeping

I only have one comment about melatonin. I had breast cancer and am taking tamoxifen. Melatonin interferes with Tamoxifen, so if you are on anymeds, please check with your doctor first.
  12. I was sleeved 3/16 and I feel similar to you. Now I am losing sleep thinking about the medical bills and I know that isn't helping my overall mood. I am walking, measuring purees and drinking but still can't get in the vitamins or enough water. I think dehydration has a lot to do with mood as well. Are you able to get in protein and water?
  13. I am curious if anyone else has experienced severe headaches when they started the pre-op liquid diet? I cut back my caffeine to almost nothing before I started. I am having between 700 - 900 calories a day on Bariatric Advantage. Thanks in advance.
  14. I am 2 weeks post-sleeve and have dropped "only" 13 lbs. Just started pureed foods Friday. I have been going up and down 2lbs for the last 4 days, however, I know if I follow the plan it will work. I have not been able to get the required protein or water yet so my calories has been running around 400-500 calories per day. I have some nausea, especially in the morning which prevents me from eating/drinking for several hours. Your body sounds like it is doing what is right for you.

pre op diet ...can i add stuff?

I was on the same pre-op diet and had a similar BMI as yours. I stuck to that diet with the exception of a slice of cheese on day 2 of the diet. The surgeon told my husband that the diet did what it was suppose to and my liver looked really good for the surgery which lowered my risk of complications. Let me ask you this, are you actually hungry, or are you head hungry? It took me until day 5 to stop being head hungry. Being on a liquid diet is no fun, but I know you can do it!
  16. So I just started my first couple of days with pureed foods and it was so nice to have some new options for food instead of sweet shakes and broth. My sleeve was done 3/16 and I can say I have had no issues with partaking in pureed foods so far. I measure very carefully and do not go over 4oz per sitting. When I feel a pain in my chest I know I am done and I stop eating no matter how much is left in my bowl/plate. I am just curious if this is typical to have no issues with pureed food? And are others at this stage also eating 4oz?

    Vajayjay changes

I have had the opposite AND there is a new sweet smell (sorry for the TMI). I am very sensitive to smells right now, so it could be nothing. I have no symptoms.
  18. I was wondering for those whose surgeon used tape over the incisions, did they fall off or did you take them off? Thanks in advance.

    Cooking for family post-op

I was sleeved on 3/16 and I can say I cooked the first time since surgery this morning when I made breakfast for the family. All I made was french toast, simple I figured. Well my nose can't take smells right now of some foods. The butter Pam spray that I used made me nauseous. I had to walk away from the stove and my daughter took over until it passed. I had the smell of burgers do the same thing earlier in the week. I have heard this sensitivity should pass, but since you will be cooking for the family like me, you will be surprised how your sniffer changes too.

    Struggling with whey....

You are right, the taste could be better, but for me it is the smell, especially now that I a post-op, I have been using the Premier Protein pre-made shakes in all flavors but vanilla (which is normally my favorite). I hope you can find something that works.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

I was using the timer, but was having issues coordinating all my meds and downing food/liquids. I would take my meds then I couldn't drink for a while. I am also having issues with the vitamins making me sick to my stomach. I am now using my alexa and my iwatch and maybe that will help some.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

I am home now. I feel significantly better but wiped out. With the added fluids I was finally able to have my first BM for a week (worst one of my life) but my systems are awake again. Surgeon said if I am still having troubles tomorrow he wants to repeat the upper GI to see if there are any issues/blockages.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

I’m not sure. They couldn’t get blood for the labs. They are going to hang a bag of fluids with vitamins once it arrives.

I’m 5 days post-op. I’m having a down day. I haven’t had a BM in over a week and emotionally I’m struggling today. I had the sleeve and hernia repair. I have 6 incisions and my right side is still in pain. I haven’t taken any pain meds since I came home Sunday. Stomach is still swollen. Today is tearful for me. I’m all over the place.
