  1. Is anyone else tired of talking about it with friends? I feel like I made a mistake telling so many people... I keep getting asked what I can eat now, and do I feel like I have more energy, and my face looks thinner, are my clothes feeling looser?!
I mean, the compliments are fine, but I am not used to talking about these things... Also, I'm scared to venture beyond soft foods too much. I also haven't noticed the scale moving much lately... I try to only check once a week.
I don't know, I'm just tired of dedicating so much of my life to thinking about food!

Yes! Personally people looked at me like I was disabled when I would tell them no I can’t eat that for lunch (typically McDonald’s, KFC, anything with grease) I rarely even hang out with the so called friends I used to have since their lives have been dedicated around food apparently that I no longer get talked to or invited. I see it as you keep doing what you have to for yourself! Talk about it if you want to and don’t if you don’t want to.

Btw I’m on soft foods too and am scared as well.

    Good luck!

  2. I agree with the comments above! Although personally I couldn’t reach my Fluid intake in the beginning and was in fact dehydrated the first two weeks. I had to find ways to get liquid. I found them in drinking teas, broth, or slushy made style Water and flavor. As for Protein that was another problem for me as my tummy couldn’t and still can not tolerate Protein Shakes anymore since surgery! But I did find Protein Drinks like Isopure black tea or lemonade flavor and that has protein and counts as fluid intake. For vomiting I’d say the protonix helps with that, they sent me home with those out of surgery and I take it in the morning before anything!

However, definitely definitely let your surgeon know your concerns. I bother mines CONSTANTLY!

  3. I had my surgery on 12/27/17. I was doing so bad with Water intake/ any Fluid intake that I was dehydrated the first week. I had to find what worked for me. Very warm teas worked for me, or slushy drinks that I’d make myself out of diet cranberry juice (dilute it to cut the sweetness) and a bunch of ice blended. I was also told no straws but honestly I get more gas and heartburn when I don’t use a straw so for me it worked! I’m 1 month and two days in and I still am not allowed to eat chicken although I’ve had a few small moist chicken pieces here and there last week. I would say don’t do chicken... yet! I’m on soft foods so mashed sweet potato, mashed cauliflower, oatmeal’s, eggs, tilapia are things you can eat. I can’t tolerate milk, eggs or tilapia so I stay away for a while. Also Protein wise! I could NOT get in protein from Protein Shakes at all till about two weeks ago! Late I know! Still lost weight though.

Premier protein shakes are my absolute enemies, which sucks cause I used to love them before surgery now I can’t stand any shake. So I drink protein drinks like water protein drinks. Isopure has some!

  4. Hang in there it gets better quickly. The first time I tried eggs was trrrible too, but a week later I tried again and now I eat them daily. If something doesn't sit well try it a week or two later and it will likely be fine. You definitely won't be on broth forever.
For thirst try a warm beverage like herbal tea or light hot cocoa, it goes down way easier and helps get the ounces in.

Believe me I’m trying I guess I just get frustrated from time to time! I’ll try eggs again in a week or two as well as milk and hope that it will sit well eventually.

Herbal tea has helped lots when I can’t drink plain water!

    Thank you!

  5. Like you said you are very new out from your Surgery. It will get better, I know that isn't much help but hang tight. You will find your balance. The thrist was the hardest or me too. hate to be thristy. I would much prefer no food to no Water. I know that is what I will be tested on in our final days. LOL Only giving me a drip at a time will drive me bonkers. As for gas, I have something that has helped me sooo much. Tey are natural and have saved my life more than once. PAPAYA ENZYMES. They cost less than $5.00 at Walmart. I won't tell you to take them before u check with your DR but like I said 100% natural and cheap too. WIN WIN for me!! Like I said u will figure out what works for u. If u like cottage cheese it has pretty good Protein in it. I take strawberry sugar free jelly put it in my cottage cheese. It taste like strawberry cheesecake. YUMMY. On ACCORDING TO EGGFACE on Pintrest has lots of different recipes. I made the RICCOTA BAKE recipe on there. It is very soft and u can blend it if you need too. My hubby really liked it. So keep trying different things until you can get yourself built up to eating the different foods. I'm 4 and 1/2 years out and I have foods that I can NOT eat. I also have certain foods that I eat over and over again. Kind of like my rituals. Take care and I hope everything works out. Have a great one

Yes, I’ve said the same thing to my friend, rather no food to no water! I’ve heard of the papaya enzymes, I do have an appointment coming up in 2 weeks with my surgeon so I’ll ask him about those. As for cottage cheese, I actually haven’t tried it but the ricotta bake recipe sounds so yum! But I’ll give myself a week or two to reintroduce eggs as I don’t think it worked for me so well first time around.

Thank you so much on the advice! It gives me hope to know it gets better.

    Take care!

  6. Hi everyone. I am 27 years old, was sleeved on December 27, 2017. My first week I went through all kinds of emotions, regretful and in pain. I was 275 pounds day of surgery and am now 241. Needless to say I had a stall for about a week and a few days now UGH!

I’m not sure if it’s normal but I often still get frustrated sometimes, I’m always thirsty and have to be really conscience about what to drink since not everything sits well. I can’t tolerate milk (non fat nor soy, or almond milk) which bums me out since I used to love milk. I would drink two glasses full every night! Now I can’t even have a sip without my stomach feeling gassy. I threw up for the first time yesterday after trying eggs (I’m on soft foods by the way). Some soft foods just don’t sit well! I feel so overwhelmed like I’ll never get past the whole not being able to eat more than 2 small spoonfuls of something and have to settle for chicken broth for the rest of my life.

  7. I rarely have words of advice to uplift your spirits but just to say you’re not alone! I had my surgery 12/27 and I have also lost about 33 pounds for a month and my doctor believes I should have been losing more! Though I am following everything to the tee! I am also frustrated cause I’m on soft foods, can’t eat anything barely but like a small tablespoon and that’s it and get gassy stomach. But you’re definitely not alone on the weight loss 1 month post op
