  1. Today I am exactly 4 weeks out. I was sleeved 3/12. I am down 22lbs! I can't believe it. I'm more excited about how I feel though. My energy is crazy, I'm so much happier, and the feeling of being full is amazing. It is something I have truly never experienced.

I can't wait to see what else this life change will bring me.

  2. I checked my journal and it looks like I’ve been consistently getting over 500 calories since 3/26. I hate Protein Drinks but do force myself to try to get in 1 each day. I use a whole cup of 2% milk (don’t like 1%) with the Unjury Protein Powder plus a bit of Peanut Butter powder. That’s about 250 calories alone. So it’s easy for me to get another 250 plus each day.

I do the Premier Protein shakes because they are genuinely the only ones I don't hate. They're only 160 calories for 30 g Protein. So if I don't feel like having real food, I can drink two and stay under 400, even with the addition of a string cheese. They say to eat 4 times a day, but I find I can barely drink a whole Protein Drink in one sitting, so I'll split one of them into 2 and that's how I get my 4 meals in a day.

  3. 3/14 surgery- not sure how much I’ve lost. My next pre-op appointment is on the 16th. I’m trying to only weigh every few weeks. I don’t want to have to think about stalls. I’m getting between 700-800 calories a day, Protein, Vitamins and most of my Water. If I’m not losing weight then it just isn’t in the cards for me. At this point I’ve going through extreme measures to be healthy and I don’t want to obsess about my weight anymore. I know I am and will continue to lose, period.

Oh wow! That is a lot of calories for 3 weeks out. My doctor expected us to not get any more than 500 in a day!

  4. Had procedure done on 3:22 on purée foods but get stuck in esophagus am I eating to fast or what’s going on and also did laxative 3 days ago and nothing need help because I am very uncomfortable

You might be eating too big of pieces or too much in one sitting. Try eating slower and smaller. Keep taking the laxative. My doctor recommended I take the Miralax every day until I was able to go regularly without it. I now just take colace whenever I need it.

  5. Yo madlilly I checked Wikipedia Android it does list Hibiclean as
One who has that formula much

Well, I know it wasnt the hibiclens. They gave us a bottle pre-op and we had to wash our entire body with it the night before and the morning of surgery. The only place I broke out in hives was in the exact shape and area where I had the orange prep after surgery. It was in the exact line of where they prepped me, even my surgeon noticed it immediately when I came in after the hives popped up.

  6. Is that Hibiclens? If it is, you have a sister in me, because I'm allergic also. And I had better be sure the surgeon and his team know this because I would be the same as you. Found that out when I had my last knee replacement, in February 2017.[emoji10]

No. I was fine with the hibiclens! I was allergic to the iodine prep they use (my surgeon told me it was specifically chlorohexidine). It's that orange stuff you wake up to being all over the area and surrounding areas of where you had surgery.

  7. Wow! Congrats! I don’t know when I’ll be allowed other than purée. I drove for first time today to take my daughter to fairgrounds to show animals. 5 hrs of sitting and she’s still not done but I am. 85 degree weather and incisions hurting and I brought a Jello with me which I ate 2 oz. now I’m hungry

I'm so sorry! I had a rough recovery because I was allergic to the chlorohexidine prep they use from your chest to your pubic area before surgery. I was broken out in hives for the first two weeks. Then they found out I was allergic to the glue on my incisions, which made the irritation on them even worse. They're still not fully healed, but MUCH better.

  8. So odd. I was sleeved March 12th and haven't really had much hunger. Only time I do is when I get busy at work and I go way longer than 4 hours without eating something, but then in satisfied by a little bit of food. I'm 20 lbs down as of last night and I am barely 3 weeks post op. I started going back to the gym this week for light cardio (elliptical, treadmill on a brisk walk with a bit of an incline) and I feel great. I've been getting 30g of my Protein a day from a shake, but then the other 30g comes from food (soft cooked chicken, shrimp, etc).

  9. I had my surgery yesterday. I woke up after surgery so nauseous and in pain. I try heaved once. My throat is also bloody and swollen. My Dr. this morning told me when I woke up from surgery I was trying to rip the tube out of my mouth/throat, so I probably hurt myself. I'm doing better today. Painful on the left side of my abdomen, but I'm able to get up and walk. It took hours for my bladder to wake up yesterday. I couldn't pee, but am doing fine now.

  10. Please help! I'm scheduled for tomorrow AM and I have a cold! Just stuffy nose....anyone's doctor still sleeve them with a cold?? I'm so scared they will canx me!!

Who knows. I think they are usually cautious about coughs, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. I'm not sure about a stuffy nose though. I would just see how you're feeling in the morning tomorrow, and then go and try. The worst they can do it move you to a later spot.

I am also tomorrow, but 2 pm. Good luck to you!

  11. Hello,
I have surgery scheduled for March 12 and I’m thinking of backing out. I had dinner with my family last night and their all against the surgery. I think the only reason I’m scared is going under the knife...I’m not so much worried about the recovery and such just basic surgery. I know the doctors are trained professionals I just am getting anxious as the day nears... The main reason my family is against it is their worried the sleeve is irriversable and I may have complications. They believe that it’s for morbidly obese people and they claim that I’m not but in reality my bmi is over 45 and I’ve been obese my whole adult life. I know they love me but I want this for myself but their opinion matters a lot to me. This is probably too close to surgery but they said they would feel more comfortable if I did the band. Anyone ever do the lap band? I heard the success rate wasn’t as good? I’m probably wrong. Thank you

The only opinions that should matter on this are yours and your surgeons. Having a BMI > 40 is extremely unhealthy, coming from someone with the same, and it is a necessity that you get your weight down. Get the surgery and ignore their comments. I'm not telling majority of my family for that exact reason.
Don't so the lap band. My cousin's band eroded her stomach and she was unable to eat. She had to get it removed and replaced by the sleeve. Most hospitals now don't do the band, or are phasing it out because it is proven to have a pretty poor success rate as in long term stability.

  12. Hello everyone, my name is Lisa and I'm a 24 year old nursing student. I was recently scheduled for the sleeve surgery for May 10th. Excited but wish it was sooner. I start my 11 day cleanse April 29th. Does anyone have their surgery for May?? Would love to share this journey with you all. I don't have much of a support group because they think its a dangerous surgery. My doctor told me support is a major key for a successful operation and joining this site is a motivation for me.

That's my birthday! Good luck, you will do great! I go in on Monday and I can't wait. It's the start of a new life. And it will definitely help your career. I have a B.S in biology and I plan to move on to my PhD in the next 2ish years. I work in research right now and every day I feel like my skills and knowledge are belittled because of my weight. I can't wait to be able to progress and excel in my field of work, and not let the weight be the first thing people notice.
Sorry for the rant! I just feel like most people in the science/healthcare field get this!

  13. I am scheduled for 3/12 and its hard to believe that is 6 days away. I am fortunate that I do not have to do 2 weeks of liquids. My surgeon has a 2 day liquid diet. Prior to that I have been doing Protein Shakes for Breakfast, lunch and then meat and veggies for dinner.

I am also 3/12. I only have to do liquids all day Sunday and then nothing by mouth at midnight on Monday. I'm so excited.
