    Seeking NYC Sleeve Buddy

Honestly looking for feedback - Is my ask unreasonable? I don’t understand why no one has responded.

Try going to the gym and lifting weights. As your muscles increase, so does your resting metabolism.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Another March 12 here! I’m nervous/excited. I’m not telling anyone except one friend an am feeling pretty lonely.

    BMI under 40

The nurse asked me if I was really 5’9” or possibly closer to 5’8”. Being 5’8” added a little over 1% BMI and got me to 40% which seems to be the magic number for insurance. I also wore snow boots and my winter coat on the scale for weigh ins to help add a few extra pounds. Insurance (United Health Care) approved the surgery. Current weight 260 with a March 12 surgery date.
  5. I’m with NY Bariatric Group, Dr. Holiver. According to his bio, it looks like he was an early pioneer in sleeve surgery. Haven’t had my surgery yet but for the most part the experience has been good. All my insurance requirements were approved last week and I’m hoping for a mid March surgery date and would love feedback from anyone who has also used this group.
  6. I was just approved for sleeve surgery (yay [emoji119]) and now the reality is setting in and I’m getting nervous about everything. Current weight 265 and actual height is 5’10”, although I lied to doctor and said I was 5’8” to make sure my BMI was over 40 for insurance approval. Does height matter for surgery? I’m nervous this can effect incisions and measurements for surgery. If I tell my doctor will they make me go through approval again? Actual BMI is 38 vs 41 (which it would be if I were 5’8”). Thanks for any advise!
  7. Thanks everyone! I think the best thing to do is ask if height matters. I was originally considering the lap band (bad idea) and during my initial consultation the dr said he would have to make 5 incisions vs one because I was taller. I initially told him I was 5’9” then but lied even more and said I was 5’8” when I started the 6 months of weigh-ins. And@MattyMatt, you are 100% right! That 6 month period is stupid and I ended up gaining 15 lbs.
