  1. Nail polish wouldn’t affect BP reading it’d be Oxygen saturation
  2. You've done the hard part - onwards and downwards now!

    Open Incision

I had a drain in hospital and the incision it was in wasn’t stitched, took a couple of weeks to fully heal
  4. Unless you have pre-existing circulation problems I wouldn’t have thought they’re necessary

    Pre Op diet day 1

Keep at it, the first 2 or 3 days are the worst! Well worth it in the end
  6. Fabulous - I too have just dropped into the 19s - very happy!

    3 days post sleeve

I was the same and was starting to get a wee bit concerned. Puréed food soon put a stop to that concern though 😂
  8. Some second thoughts are natural but science suggests that although you may lose the weight it'll come back on with interest. I'm the same age as you and 5'10", started at 317.5lb and now 2.5 wks post op am down to 277. I was on three BP meds, one has gone and the rest are reduced, now BP is 111/70 so will reduce more soon, my suspected (but not diagnosed) sleep apnea appears to have gone as I'm sleeping much better and actually feel refreshed when I wake. My back/ankle/knee pain is pretty much away. In short it's the best thing I've ever done for myself and probably will be for you too. I can honestly say I've not been hungry since the op and whilst I enjoy eating nice flavours I can take or leave food and I would say my pre-op relationship with food was very similar to yours! You won't regret it, keep us posted!
  9. It'll get better day by day, I only had one sore one too and I'd say within a week it was pretty much gone. Just try and avoid triggering it, for me that was rolling on to my left side or over stretching or twisting awkwardly.
  10. I'm only 2.5 wks out so can't help with the long term but surgery was a dawdle with minimal pain after the first day. My surgeon had me nil by mouth and bed rest until the next morning and I had minimal gas pain. Pain was controlled by tylenol in my IV every 6 hours and I had it orally for a couple of days after getting home. Residual discomfort has gotten less by the day and now is pretty much gone unless I over stretch. Hydration isn't too bad but you do need to be mindful of it as you can't catch up too quickly if you get behind. I've already ditched half my BP meds and it is now 111/70 so will get rid of some more in a while once I've seen it's stabilised. Back/ankle/knee pain has gone and I'm sleeping like a log (I probably had undiagnosed sleep apnoea which I suspect is gone now). I'd do it again tomorrow and again the next week if I had to! Good luck and keep us posted

What side do you sleep on?

I could sleep on back straight away, right side after a day and left side/tummy after a week or so.

I’m feeling pretty good, 8 days post op now and very minimal discomfort. Quite tired and somewhat fed up of liquids but otherwise great 👍🏻

Well done for considering surgery! I procrastinated for too long and am now 1 week post op and so glad I did it. I’m from the UK and didn’t want to wait on NHS and couldn’t afford private treatment here so I went across to Belgium, couldn’t be happier with everything. Much cheaper than here, fabulous hospital and the surgeon is probably one of the most experienced in Europe. It was actually arranged through an Irish company International Surgery Group who were extremely helpful, may be worth considering if your insurance doesn’t cover you.
