    Strongman Lifting

I did a strongman event earlier this year and loved it and definitely plan on doing more next year once I get stronger! Staying correctly fuelled for the duration was a bit tricky and I overdid the caffeine slightly but had a blast 😊

21 y/o guy never able to have alcohol again?

I still enjoy a wine or three, probably hits me a bit quicker that’s all!

    Lifting heavy

Not only can you do it but you definitely should!

    Opinions

If you’re worried about how you’ll feel about a stall just take regular measurements and body fat analysis - that’ll give you something else to focus on which will be far more relevant!
  5. Nice! How long have you been at it for, they are some impressive arms 😮
  6. No idea what my intake is but I eat a fair bit. On lifting days I tend to have a fair bit of carbs before working out as find that helps with strength and energy. I do need to up my protein a bit though
  7. About me... HW= 330 CW= 233 Sleeve April 2018 Got back in the gym for first time in 20+ yrs Dec ‘18. Just started competing in strongman and want to give powerlifting a go. Current one rep max; DL=160kg (352lb) Sq=140kg (308lb) Bench=105kg (231lb) OHP=65kg (143lb) Next aim is to get my 4 plate DL
  8. Cheers @BigViffer, you were a big part of my motivation to get back in the gym! That DL was at 18”, currently at 160kg for a standard but my next aim is 180kg. I’ve already got my 2 plate bench and 3 plate squat so just missing the 4 plate DL 😊
  9. Skips - traditionally in the big money comps they were filled with increasing amounts of silver dollars and last man standing took them home!
  10. Did my first strongman comp today - 200kg silver dollar deadlift. Nearly got 220kg but lost balance😁
  11. I think you need to also consider your goals (life rather than weight) and work out what your priorities needs to be and maybe think of how to go about things. Currently it seems like you're trying to build muscle and strength and cut fat at the same time. I'm no expert but from my reading about bodybuilding/lifting type things trying to do all of this at the same time doesn't work after a point. I'd decide on a priority and do it i.e. Build muscle/strength and give yourself the calories to do it, then once you've done this try and cut weight by reducing calories and changing up the exercise. You'll find your body composition is changing anyway so you'll have less fat to lose when the time comes. I'm a **** example as I'm not the best with my diet but my goal was 90kg, i'm now at about 107kg but I'm concentrating on building strength and muscle, if I end up being around this weight but with a better shaped body I'll not be disappointed! I've started training for strongman competitions (have first next week) and there's a <105kg category so that's my aim. As you said you're healthy and have probably added a good 20 yrs to your life so enjoy it. Personally I'd like to have a smaller gut but I absolutely love being able to lift stupidly heavy weights so I'll chip away at the gut but my effort will be muscle and strength.
  12. I’m just over a year out, have lost maybe 10lb since Xmas but my body shape has changed hugely as I just started working out in December. That seems like a bit of a big deficit but I’m no expert... Might be worth shaking up the routine a bit? If you’re doing body building style workouts maybe try lower volume higher weights for a while? Reduce the walking and replace with HIIT cardio? I wouldn’t worry too much just play about and enjoy you far you’ve come!
  13. Sounds like you’re doing great! I struggle with fueling properly too but I’m not the most organised and pretty lazy with tracking. The StrongLifts program is pretty brutal when you start to get to higher weights so it might just be that you need a deload to give your system a wee rest! Also make sure you’re getting enough carbs especially on your lifting days as although protein is important for muscle building they need glycogen to work. I’ve just started training for a strongman competition and I’ve no earthly idea how I’m going to pack enough carbs and water in between events in the day 😂

    Feeling like utter crap

Most of those pre workouts have a ton of caffeine in them which might irritate the stomach. I take one sometimes and I’m ok with it but may not be helping you.
  15. Updated my PBs tonight Squat = 140kg Bench = 95kg Next week mission is the deadlift and I really want to get my bench to 100kg 💪🏻
  16. Impressive work dude, hopefully get there myself one day!
  17. I had mine done in Bruges and couldn’t have been happier. Surgeon is top notch and it was in a large teaching hospital which was reassuring.

I Was Amazed When I Heard This

Steak was one of the first things I had once allowed proper solids. Couldn’t manage a whole load but by god I loved it!
  19. Good work! I’ve just got my ass back in the gym and have started the StrongLifts 5x5 programme to get some strength built up. Currently squatting around the weight I’ve lost which is a funny thought!

    How long off work/disability?

I had 6 weeks off and felt pretty good on return, it was probably week 5-6 when I consistently started feeling good. Before that I’d be like superman one day and half dead the next
  21. Just under 6 weeks post op and down around 55lb. Visiting friends in Germany and ended up doing something I’ve not done for a fair while - looking forward to getting back into it 😃

    Can’t beat it!

    Not Obese Anymore

    Great work 👍🏻

    Bratwurst?

If you’ve got friends coming round and you fancy it then go for it. You’ll cope fine and whilst not the healthiest food choice won’t do any harm as an occasional ‘treat’.
  25. Low oxygen sats are fairly common immediately post op due to the anaesthetic etc. Low BP is likely due to the rapid metabolic changes caused by the rapid weightloss - will probably level out once you start on more substantial foods. Just make sure not to stand up too quickly etc and make sure you are well hydrated!
