Most embarrassing diet/exercise product you've ever bought?
It's about Me replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
OMG here we go: PEN/PEN HealthFast ( a liquid diet, 3 shakes a day nothing else) I did this for 7 months and lost 60 pounds and most of my hair and gained it all back, ok my hair took awhile. I went to a clinic where they wrap you in saran wrap and you sweat then they compare your measurements before and after and they tell you that you lost inches....I thought so LOL HCG Shots - yep took these damn shots everyday for months along with a 500 calorie diet, yes I lost weight but guess what, yep gained it all back. Oh yay my mom bought me those Ayds chewable's to..... What have I done to myself???? -
They told us only clear liquids for the first week or so, clear premier protein drinks, broth, jello, but not the regular premier drinks at first. Maybe try them, I had to order mine. Hope this helps

Wow! The cost of Surgery.
It's about Me replied to MJinNorCal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have Kaiser in Southern California and I have -0- copay, however two gals I met in my Options classes had to pay. One paid $500.00 and the other had to pay $3,000.00. I'm sure it depends on the plan you have, but that sounds way out of range from what I have read. -
I will be 60 this year and I am scheduled for a VSG on May 16th. I agree I feel better and younger just getting ready for this step in my life. Good luck and see you on the losers bench, we've got this!

Our class had about 35 men and women, I was surprised at the amount of members. Honestly I was embarrassed to join, I know that sounds awful but at my age I always felt I should have done this earlier because I am overweight because of what I have done to myself, there's no one else to blame. I had walked in to the class over a year ago and looked around and left. Anyway I am glad I am on my way now and I cant believe my surgery is three weeks away

I have Kaiser Southern Cal in Bakersfield and my surgery date is May 16th, I started Options classes on December 12th, we had an extra two weeks that didn't count because of the holidays but I finished on March 13th, got my referral to the surgeon on March 16th, met the surgeon on April 5th and he scheduled my surgery for May. I think it went by pretty fast actually, I'm just waiting to go in now. Good Luck!

We only had one class a week, and had to have a Behavioral Assessment and Health Appraisal along with labs and EKG. They also require one week before your surgery that you have a chest x-ray. I agree I learned a lot in the classes, sure opened my eyes as to what is about to take place. -

I have Kaiser in Southern California, I started my Option classes on December 12th, and finished on March 13th, we only had to take 12 weeks of class. I received a referral letter to see the surgeon on March 16th and have an appointment with the surgeon on April 5th. It feels like a long time, but I am glad it is finally here. -
I finally have a date to meet with the surgeon. April 5th is the date for my office visit/meet him and then set my actual surgery date. I am soooooo excited.

Gastric Sleeve (VSG) AFTER 60
It's about Me replied to Beverly J.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello, I will turn 60 this year, I have just completed all my classes and have been approved for surgery. I am just waiting for the call I started my weight loss journey on December 5th. HW 231 CW 212 -
Congrats and good luck!
-
That's awesome! I am going through Kaiser in Bakersfield. I have two classes left, already received my medical approval and just waiting to see the surgeon and get a date. They sure moved fast for you, I'm jealous Did you have to take the Options classes?
-
Hello, I am doing the Options classes through Kaiser in Bakersfield and we were told they would like a 10% weight loss, however I haven't heard of anyone being denied because they didn't reach that goal. They do want to make sure that you are trying and able to loose on your own. They do keep mentioning that it helps with shrinking the liver as well, which is what they have to move out of they way to get to your stomach.

April/May 2018 Sleevers!!?
It's about Me replied to BeckyVSG2b's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello, my last class is on March 13th and I pray I get an April or May surgery date. I watch a lot of peoples journeys on youtube and I just never realized there were so many people doing and trying to do what I am/we are. I am proud of all of us for finally making the choise to make us healthier and happier. -
I can so relate to everything you have said, except I HATE exercising. This is going to be a struggle for me and has been. I agree unless we make peace with the demon in our head that is in control of our choices and yes they are choices we make, we cant be at peace with ourselves. I hate the constant thinking about my weight and worrying about food, it is on my mind 24/7. I to want to let go and find nutural ground and live my life. I always get, "you have such a pretty face", well what the hell's wrong with the rest of me, is it not pretty? People are so cruel and stupid, I have lost weight (so many times) and had them say, " you are so beautiful", well am I not the same person and then what does that make me now? I say F***k them and let's get on with our lives and who we want to be. I havent even had my surgury yet, but I am determined to make this work and love me.
