Looking for an accountability buddy to make sure we go to the gym and eat healthy! I’m in Boston!
-
I know this question has probably been asked and answered before, but I’m two days post op and not passing gas. I am burping every time I drink something, but nothing is coming out the other way!! Any tricks?

Did anyone not pass gas 2 days post op? I have been burping but haven’t been able to pass gas

I’m in Boston, MA. I didn’t have a pre-op diet. My surgeon says that the diets are used to shrink the liver, but in our program we were required to lose a certain amount of weight in the 4-6 months prior to surgery (which also shrinks the liver). They said they prefer to not have a pre-op diet because it’s too much pressure on patients to have to lose a specific amount of weight in the two weeks before surgery, and surgery is stressful enough. I definitely appreciate it.

Right after surgery, I lost my ability to swallow large pills and I had to crush them. The horse-size Calcium tablets were the worse. It was like eating chalk. The only way I could down these was by mixing them with crystal light and drinking them down. Because they formed a paste at the bottom of the glass. I had to remix these and chug them down several times. Luckily my inability to swallow lasted only a couple months and then I was back to normal.
Yeah, I knew about having to crush daily Vitamins. In this post, I was mostly curious about the pre- and post-workout supplements. Thanks, though!

Congrats! My pre-workout calls for 4-6 oz of Water and I drink my 24oz bcaa while I workout. I've taken No Xplode, C4 Ultimate and C4 Original and all call for a small amount of water to mix.
I’ve used C4 before and liked it. That’s kind of what I was thinking - just mixing the pre-workout with less water and drinking the bcaa slowly while working out (which is what I currently do anyway). I just wanted to see if this was the general thought in the post-op community. Thanks!!!!

Hi all,
I’m going to have surgery in a few days (yay!) and I’m realizing now that the pre-workout and aminos I use require a lot of liquid to be consumed, since it’s a powder you mix into 16 oz of Water. Has anyone altered the supplements they use post-surgery or do you just consume them slower?

Hi Everyone!
I'm having a SIPS/Loop DS with Dr. Sheila Partridge at Newton Wellesley Hospital in early April. I've just created a Facebook Group for Boston Area peeps! I hope you'll join: https://www.facebook.com/groups/322635081592855/?source=create_flow&ref=timeline_collection
I don’t use Facebook. Could I send along my email so someone could keep me in the loop if you’re doing meet ups?

BMC! So fortunately, no pre-op diet for me! I’m set for March 6!

Hi,
I’m set to be sleeved in two weeks and would love to meet up with anyone in the Boston area looking for accountability/support partners!
-
I’m in the same situation! I’m taking off a week for work and my mom will be here that week, but then after that I’ll be going back to my normal commute into the city, which includes walking and the train. I’m curious to know what insight people have to offer about this!
-
Did anyone else not have a required pre-op diet, other than the “no food after midnight” on the day of surgery rule? I’m two weeks out from surgery and was not given a specific diet to follow.
-
I took 1 week. Hoping it's enough
Me too! I don’t have a job that requires heavy lifting or a lot of movement really! So I’m hoping that even if I’m tired, it won’t be too bad.
