  1. My surgery is Monday April 2nd. Did my pre-op this week, spoke to the nurse and anesthesiologist, that was mildly unpleasant. I didn’t realize I would have a tube down my throat and placed on a breathing machine, or a catheter and to make it better, the nurse told me once I’m in the OR both arms will be strapped down then I’ll be put out and then she tells me I will be prepped my gown will be removed and they will scrub from under my breasts to my knees. When I asked why my knees are be scrubbed in I was told that’s standard practice. Ugh, so just thought of me laying there naked and being scrubbed down by multiple people gives me anxiety. Then she also tells me there are 6 people total in the room. Makes me feel sick just thinking about I too. I’m sure somebody is going to say something rude while I am laying there naked, there are half a dozen people in there. I have to focus and remember I can can do this.

Remember this is what they do. Im sure they aren't going to be rude to you. You won't notice the tube because they do that after sedation. My surgery doesn't require a catheter, but that too will be ok. Another one they will probably do after sedation. The cleaning is to prevent infection. I'm claustrophobic and hate having my arms strapped down, but it's only for a minute and then you are asleep. You've got this!

  2. I feel like my diet pre and post op are very strict.

PreOp and up to 7 weeks after my surgeon will not allow me to have any solid food.

Does anybody else have a diet this strict?

    · 2 weeks preop diet: Protein Shakes and Clear Liquids only

    · 2 weeks post op diet: Protein shakes and clear liquids only

    · 3 & 4 weeks postop: I can add in creamy liquids

    · 5 & 6 weeks postop: I can add in pureed foods

    · 7+ weeks: I can slowly integrate solid foods.

  3. I'm just starting my 2 week liquid diet today. I've done these before just to lose weight. Only thing I can say is don't think about food. You don't need it. When you feel like you have to eat, have some Jello or a popsicle. Stay as active as possible. I'm a secretary and I tend to snack at my desk. So when I feel like eating, I'll get up and walk around. The first 3 days are the hardest. But there is a hump and you don't feel deprived after it. Just stay active! After you've made your family dinner, go for a walk or to the gym. No, you won't have much energy, but people around you will keep you going.

  6. So, oops. I've been so busy today I didn't eat Breakfast. I wasn't really hungry during lunch so I had a Protein Shake. dinner I had a piece of fish. But that was it. My calories for the day was 395. So I just had another Protein shake. I've never in my life ever eaten so little. But my energy was great today up until after my Zumba class this evening. So aside from being on a liquid diet, what has your calories been at? Usually, mine range between 1,000 and 1,700.

  7. I understand! I have hoshimotos thyroidism and I'm having a terrible time losing weight to be qualified for surgery. I just started on phentermine even though it makes me aggressive. I've gained 10 pounds since my first visit in October. Down 5 since then. But it's been a bear! All I can say is stay focused and lose all you can the healthy way. Don't starve yourself or do liquid diets just to lose it, you will gain it back again. And use weights during exercise. Muscle helps burn fat. Keep it up! You can do this.

  8. I was told the same. It may just be the OPs surgeon that will only accept one up to 30 days old.

In California, it's good for 30 days, but it is a standard EKG, chest xray, and blood work prior to any surgery. Although I was told a chest xray shouldn't be necessary unless the anesthesiologist wants it.

  9. How is everyone's journey going? My weight is still up and down. Struggling with hunger. I'm trying to be good, but it feels like I'm hungry all the time. Choosing healthy food curbs the hunger for maybe an hour. Then I find myself still searching for the food that makes me satiated. But I'm working on it.
