    Regarding Vitamin Pills

My surgery was at a Bariatric Center of Excellence, like many others. The nutritionist said that the PatchMD Multivitamin Plus works great and decreases many pills that must be swallowed. So easy to use! Slap on a new vitamin patch every morning.
  2. Please don’t let these people influence you! An interesting statistic is one from the Real Self website. 99% of the people who have VSG would do it again! HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145
  3. Post-op four days. The second and third day after surgery were the toughest for me. The stomach is swollen and healing, and the medications aren’t as effective. Yesterday was really rough, but amazingly, today felt much better! It gets better! HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145

    Pressure Point

My surgeon told me that they place a very deep stitch several layers below the surface from the opening where the excess stomach is removed. He said this opening bothers patients the most and not to be worried. HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145
  5. Today has been better! Thanks for the encouragement! HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145
  6. I felt the same way as you about drinking and eating. Thought it was overkill until I was meeting with a Bariatric dietician. I had asked her what keys she thought led to success as a Bariatric patient. She said she saw the most success with individuals who followed the 30/30rule. After I heard that, I started to be a believer!
  7. That’s a good question. The pain after the C-Section was worse, in my opinion. The pain from sleeve surgery can best be described as soreness for me at Day 4 Post-op. I’m not even taking Tylenol nor the pain meds for it. The problem for me isn’t the pain, but the nausea.
  8. If you let the diet ginger ale sit out so the carbonation goes away, I think you could try that. As long as the drink isn’t sugary or bubbly, you should be fine. Hang in there!
  9. Hi RuhRo, I have a hard time with just water so have been trying different sugar free drinks. Last night I tried a diluted Light White Grape juice, and it’s not bad. I used to love Propel, but can’t take the taste of it now. Many flavors of Crystal Light might work. There is also a diet Cran-Pineapple juice that can be diluted that tastes good without all the sugar. Our instructions are that all fruit juices be diluted by half. Please let me know if you find anything that works. Hang in there! You aren’t alone! Deb
  10. Hi Staci, I was sleeved on May 2, too! Trying to drink but definitely not getting protein. The shakes make me sick! Not much pain, but I hate being nauseated. Prior to surgery, I consistently walked 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day, but I’m laying low for awhile and just walking a bit at a time. Everyone keeps saying that this is the worst time. I hope so. One day at a time! Hang in there!

    4 days post op

My surgeon told me that the incision that they use to remove the extra stomach will pull more and be more painful since they place a staple very deep in the skin layers.

  13. My last experience with a liquid diet was the pre colonoscopy liquid diet. I’ll never forget projectile vomiting at 10pm. I understand that the pre-surgery liquid diet encourages protein, but it also lasts much longer. Any reassurance? A reality check? Thoughts???
  14. Hi Boston, Thank you for this post. It was really encouraging to me since I was worried that I have only lost 5 lbs after six months of dietary visits required by my insurance. It looks like your surgery weight was only 6 lbs lighter than your starting weight. I assume I will drop some weight with the 2 week pre-surgery liquid diet, too. What are your thoughts??? Thanks again!!!
  15. Many people in the forum talk about how easy it is to recover when you’re young. Well past young at 58 and wondering how the recovery will be. One thing that is an advantage is that I walk 10,000 to 15,000 steps everyday.

Ladies: The Body differences when you are slimmer

Hi! I apologize if I offended you. That wasn’t my intention. Picture 15 in the slide show just didn’t seem like a healthy body in my view. It could certainly be the angle or pose. The shape of the breast also appeared to be implants. That doesn’t really matter, however. Again, my apologies.
