    junk food

Hello, my name is Cathy and I am junkfoodaholic as well...I love french fries, burgers, KFC you name it...but I have read so much about what you can't have, including popcorn, that I am going into my upcoming surgery with the mind set that until I lose my desired weight I have to eat well and stay away from junk..yeh right...like that's going to be easy with two young sons. But I am in this to change my life and eating habits to start a new and healthly life right? We have to give our best try....food is an addiction that no surgery can cure...it's all in your mind and if you think of how wonderful you feel when you are down a pound on the scale, it can keep you on track!! Best of luck everyone. Hoping to have sx soon..consult on April 16th. Cathy

    Carbonation and gum....

I like that idea! I am a diet coke fanatic and need the taste...I also had a suggestion from a bander, to swish and spit...you can have the taste with the bubbles and then spit it out, so it doesn't jeaopardize the band...Cathy

My weight loss is hurting my sister

I thinks it's great that you and your sister are so close, but if the subject of weight and weight loss is causing a wedge, remove it. Talk about other exciting things going on in your lives. Share your weight loss experiences with other family members, friends or a WLS support group. I have decided to keep my upcoming surgery a secret from almost everyone but a few friends and my husband. My sons don't even know anything yet, they suspect but I have not confirmed anything. Your weight loss should be celebrated, and no one should damper it for you!!! Best of luck Cathy
  4. Good for you...I did the same thing, researched all of the WLS options and chose Lap Band which is not covered by OHIP (Ontario healthcare), so it was either suffer as is, or pay for it myself, they have fabulous financing options here in Ontario and I just called and did it. I have my surgical consult on April 16/08. Good luck! Cathy

    Grandbaby Brag Book (Pic intensive)

Great pics, beautiful grandbabies...you are too young to be a grandma!! I still have a 16 and 10 year old at home. BTW, you are doing fabulous with the weight loss! Cathy
  7. Hello Bandfan1, I have my first consultation with the surgeon on April 16th, I am very excited to start this new chapter in my life as well. I am lucky so far, I have no weight related health problems, but my doctor said if I didn't do something now, they were just around the corner. I weight 279 (recently lost 6 lbs) and want to lose 150 lbs. I am only 5' tall and carry the weight in my belly and butt...so it's dangerous for diabetes and back problems, not too mention achy knees and hips. I wish you all the best in your journey! Cathy
