  1. I would have thought that after a few years your body adjusts to being able to consume more food, and may even increase your hunger hormone production. So in that time you want to develop a healthier relationship with food and adopt a healthier lifestyle. Then it is up to you. I used to be a binge eater, I would think up exactly what food I wanted on the way to the store and then go eat it in private, but I shook off those habits many years ago and I feel like I cant physically consume as much food as I used to and thats without WLS! These things most definitely are not set in stone but you have to put the effort in! I also beleive that there is a correlation between poor mental health and obesity, my most positive changes coincided with improvments to my mental health, and I know many obese people with mental health problems. So if you dont tackle those issues then it wouldnt surprise me if you fall back in to those habits. As an example, if you are a hermit with social anxiety, you might lose the weight, but if you continue to stay cooped up in your house and never tackle your issues with anxiety then that isnt a healthy way to live and you will most likely gain weight back if you are turning to food to fill the void of regular human interaction.
  2. Maybe try high fiber/protein foods like Split peas. Split peas can be pureed in to soup or dal. They are also low in fat but high in carbs.
  3. I havent prepared either, my brother is looking in to protein powder for me as he has more experience with this, other than that I intend to buy a whole chicken, roast it, collect the chicken stock and boil the whole chicken to create a broth and package the meat/ broth for different stages of my recovery. Ill probably mix some broth with vegetables and then strain the veggies out for use during puree stage. I live on a bland diet now so if this sounds terrible to you, dont worry I'm just boring lol.
  4. I am booked in for the 6th of Jan and its all starting to feel real. I am due for surgery in 2019 after which I cannot gain weight, so I am having the VSG to help lose weight and maintain long term. I am 26 with a BMI of 31. non-smoker, non-drinker. I used to have very bad eating habits, I dont remember my highest weight, maybe 14-15 stone but it was quite the bit larger than I am now, I would eat in secret and binge, I changed my eating habits to a whole food diet and lost quite a bit of weight, to about 10 stone but gained 2.6 stone back to the weight I am now and have maintained for a few years. Truth is after years of maintaining a healthy diet and then decreasing portion sizes and exercising and not really seeing it pay off I lost interest in food and got lazy, so my healthy diet went out of the window and was replaced by bland quick meals, a lot of rice and bread. Recently I had nothing but crackers and cheese all day to ward off hunger rather than preparing actual food. Im not much of a foody, I dont eat fast food other than the occasional take-out / takeaway, Just whatever is easy to prepare. Im hoping VSG will get me back to mindful eating and seeing better results will keep me motivated, that and the fact that my future surgery requires me to maintain. I know I probably could shift the weight if I put my mind to it, but statistically, for me to lose the weight and keep it off long term is unlikely. So I am hopeful this will work out well, I think I am in a good position and I did enjoy what I ate on my wholes food diet when I could be bothered to cook! If you have a similar issue with lazy eating habits please let me know im not alone!
