    Huge influx of random flirting

A few months ago, I was talking to a single woman in her late 40s, and she said men send her unsolicited d**k pics too.

    Non Scale Victories

Flying home from DC with my wife and son, I sat in the middle seat, found it perfectly comfortable. Bought new bath towels over the weekend, did not have to spend extra on oversized bath sheets. Looked at a pair of track pants, said “oh, those are too small,” and they fit perfectly, for the billionth time.

How much sashimi/sushi can you eat?

My dietitian would probably prefer I eat sushi or sashimi since they’re mostly/all protein, but I just prefer rolls.

How much sashimi/sushi can you eat?

Not that they’re uniform size or anything, but I’m almost a year out and I can eat an entire small-diameter Philly roll. Before the surgery, I could eat that, plus an entire steak-and-chicken-and-shrimp teppanyaki meal, plus probably stop for a double cheeseburger and fries on the way home.

    How will you handle Thanksgiving?

Thanks! His name is Henry. As luck would have it, they charged me for a kid’s portion.

    How will you handle Thanksgiving?

Not quite, but he had his first puréed food (sweet potatoes) last weekend and loved them.

    How will you handle Thanksgiving?

The card wouldn’t matter, either they’re gonna be jerks about it or they’re not.

    How will you handle Thanksgiving?

We are going to a restaurant with my parents and in-laws. I will ask if I can get a kids’ portion of the food (it’s served family-style), but I’m not hopeful. Will probably just have to nibble on everything.

    FIBER

6 psyllium husk capsules in the morning, 6 at night (I had to have surgery to repair an anal fissure in 2014 and I REALLY need to keep things moving so I don’t get another one). Strawberries. Beans.

How long until you level out?

    I personally plateau'd around 7 months out.

    At home sleep apnea test???

To date I've had 3 sleep studies (1 pre-surgery, 2 post-surgery to determine correct titration/whether I still had OSA) and all three have been in a lab. I'd rather do that than at at-home study, honestly, and my insurance has no issues covering it.

    It's a great feeling...

    It was a rhetorical question.

    It's a great feeling...

Why no, she's as skinny as a rail. Why do you ask?

    It's a great feeling...

Same here. My therapist insists it has nothing to do with my weight loss, it's any additional confidence I have because of the weight loss, blah blah blah. I disagree with her vehemently. More people talk to me and, more importantly, they don't condescend to me.

How long did you wait before dating again?

I'm not single, but I would say that by 6 months out your eating should be mostly stabilized, and you should be able to buy some nicer clothes you can wear on your dates (without worrying about them being too big on you very shortly). As for drinking, I drank my face off last weekend, and it went about the same as it would have prior to the surgery (with the added bonus that I had a lot more energy and wasn't yawning by 10 pm).

    Non Scale Victories

I flew Southwest over the weekend and sat in the comfy exit row seat, the one with no seat in front of it, because I didn't have to worry about the fact that it was narrower than normal!

    Wow you look fantastic!

    Tespo Vitamin dispenser

Did you check with your surgeon and/or nutritionist? Mine wouldn’t let me do the patches, and part of the issue was that the vitamins were dispensed once a day instead of throughout the day, and some (such as calcium) can’t be absorbed in one sitting. Once a month sounds far too good to be true.

    So Dramatic...

My wife started crying when I was being prepped for surgery. In her defense, she was 3 months pregnant at the time. The nurse handled it very well and got her to laugh. Eating a quarter of a doughnut less than a week post-op and throwing it back up. Not my drama, but one of my neighbors in the hospital had a blood sugar reading of 350 and they found an empty Coke can in their room. I heard the nurses talking about it.
  20. Yes. It lasted from a few weeks after surgery until I started seeing real results.

    I Want a Cheese Enchilada.

One thing I’ve noticed is that I can have half of anything. Half a hot dog, half a McDonalds breakfast sandwich, etc. etc. So, one day, at minimum, you’ll be able to have half an enchilada.

    Non Scale Victories

Oh I still can’t resist Insomnia Cookies! I got my first tattoo earlier this week and don’t have to worry about a potentially longer healing time because my diabetes is in remission.

On the Subject of New Clothes....

I’ve been reluctant to buy clothing because I’m sick to death of having to buy smaller ones! But I have been lately because a) I have no winter clothing in my current size and b) I’m about to return to work from parental leave. I find it annoying that I need to try clothing on because I need to be mindful of how it fits (as opposed to before, when clothing was just something that covered my body and needed to be as shapeless as possible). Which means less shopping online and more shopping in stores.

    Non Scale Victories

They told us at the support group the other night that it would pass in a few years.

    Beards

My back hair has definitely gotten denser.
