    Recommendations for low-fat creamy soups

Aldi has a line of low-fat cream soups, I think Campbell does too. Low-fat means easier on a healing tummy. Unfortunately your choices are cream of chicken, cream of potato, and cream of mushroom. Don’t forget to strain first!

    Tomato soup?

Yay, but watch for how tomatoes affect you. They’re not good for GERD.

    Indian Food

I’ve seen better results taking in 1000 calories a day than 800, personally.

    Indian Food

The more calories you can take in, the more weight you will lose. So yes, you are lucky.

    Indian Food

    I ate 1/4 of it.

    Indian Food

Spices haven’t bothered me, other than not being able to take a sip of water afterwards, but I went to Chipotle last weekend and got a burrito bowl that was just steak and cheese and pico and that did NOT agree with me. I re-read my binder and it said I can’t eat raw vegetables for another week and a half, oops.

    Indian Food

I would think that Indian food with meat would be ok since it’s a wet cooking method.
  8. Their fault for not measuring you, I get measured every time I go to the surgeon, even at post-op appointments.

    When to increase intake?

The worst is not being able to drink using a straw. I used to use a water bottle with a straw and could drink 96 or 128 oz of water a day, now it's a struggle to drink 64.
  10. I was only in the hospital for a little over 24 hours and barely slept that night. I went home, slept for 16 hours, and was back to normal. It was more the following 2 weeks of sleeping as much as I wanted at night and napping during the day that did not prepare me for sleep discipline when I went back to work.

What was for breakfast this morning?

Yes, my plan also allows peanut butter and toast starting at week 5. I think peanut butter may even have been allowed during the pureed stage, but I don't remember. Until I'm on the general diet, I'm concerned mostly with which is easier on a healing stomach, white or wheat.
  12. It's hard to say because I didn't go to work for almost two weeks and wasn't engaging in good sleep discipline during those two weeks, but I did have a lot of trouble falling asleep and staying asleep my first week back to work. Things are mostly fine now, though.

What was for breakfast this morning?

Aldi brand Greek yogurt. I'm cleared for eggs and toast, but it's just not sitting quite right with me yet. I might try peanut butter and toast next week. Does anyone have an opinion on white vs. wheat toast? White sits with me better than wheat, but wheat is, well, not healthier, but less unhealthy.

    Late December Sleevers?

Last night we had a very late dinner, around 11 pm, and I hadn't eaten since my second protein shake around 3:30 in the afternoon. So I got a plain cheeseburger and a small diet cherry limeade. I ate the burger patty and the bottom half of the bun, probably faster than I should have, and then took a few sips of the drink (through a straw, which was yet another stupid thing I did without thinking). My stomach felt so full, I couldn't breathe, and I just knew it was full of gas. So I was finally able to burp, and then everything came back up. So here's a list of things I won't be doing any time soon: 1) Eating hamburger buns 2) Eating too fast 3) Drinking soda 4) Drinking through a straw 5) Drinking immediately after I finish eating

    Late December Sleevers?

I thought I had stalled/was gaining this week, but then I tried weighing myself on our other scale (the one my wife uses) and I was 4 pounds lighter, and when I weighed myself on my father-in-law's scale over the weekend, I was 2 pounds lighter than what I weighed on my Alta this morning. Time to change the batteries, I think.

    Water and sleeve stretching

How do you stay hydrated, if chugging water at aid stations and Camelbaks aren't options?

    What's for lunch today?

I don't have much of a choice while I'm in the soft foods phase, unless I want to eat hamburgers/turkey burgers with no bun all the time. One batch of turkey chili is enough lunch and dinner for me for an entire work week.

    Water and sleeve stretching

I don't think liquids linger in your stomach long enough to stretch it out.

    Xanax post-op?

Both the Strattera and the Ambien are working the same as they did pre-surgery. The Ambien may be slightly improved, I'm not really sure. All of the other prescription meds I take were either adjusted pre-surgery or prescribed post-surgery.

    What's for lunch today?

3/4 of a cup of turkey chili. Those Scoops look delish! I may try adding some saltines to my chili today.

    Calcium

I would check with the nutritionist or surgeon, they may have free samples that can get you through the next two weeks. But I went back on Janumet the night I got home from the hospital, which is a pretty big pill, and I went back on the big fish oil capsules a week out. Neither gave me any issues.

1 week post op and STARVING

I would contact your doctor and nutritionist, but I thought jumping ahead is overrated, honestly. Maybe because my diet is so gradual. The denser the foods you start eating, the more full you’ll feel. Liquids go straight through you, puréed foods too.

Kind of worried - daily calorie intake

Today I’m 4 weeks out from surgery and I’m only consuming 800 calories a day, and that’s following the diet to a T, including protein goals. I’ve also been in a stall this week, though. I can’t see how I could get more calories in, though, this amount of food is keeping me full as it is.

    Chicago Sleevers

Thanks, yeah, it was on my instructions from my last post-op visit. 1st Monday of the month in Vernon Hills and 3rd Thursday of the month in Skokie. I’ll probably go to the the Skokie meetings since I don’t feel like staying at work till it’s time to go to the meeting in VH.

    Non Scale Victories

So far I'm annoyed with medications. I was on 4 prescriptions for weight-related conditions before the surgery. Of those, I stopped 1, and the rest I'm on half the dose I was on before the surgery. Ever had to split 30 tiny pills in half? No fun! Plus the vitamins and supplements, plus the ursodial...hasn't really been a net loss for me.
