  1. I had my surgery on April 11, 2008 and have been fighting to get into Onderland for a while now and once I was in it I made myself wait to post that I was actually in it since I can vary in weight throughout the day and in a week. I have been in onderland for a month now and I am down to 193.4!!!! It has been a bumpy ride at times but well worth it! At my highest known weight I was 447 and I now weigh less than the total weight I lost before and after surgery 253.4!

Thank you to Dr. Felts and his staff and all of the people in my life who have supported me. My goal weight is 165, which is still overweight but I am and will be a much healthier person. :-)

  2. You are doing great and like btrieger said, everyone is different. I had hoped to be further along than I am, but I have had complication along the way. I am extremely happy with my loss so far and know I have a lot more to go...enjoy your journey and do not get caught up in the numbers.

  3. How do I get added to the spreadsheet? My initial weight was incorrect when I first signed on to the challenge. I was actually 247 (1 pound more than I first thought ) and I did not lose anything the first week...thanks to Mother Nature. My total to lose would change from 12 to 13 pounds and I am now at 241.2  down 5.8.

Thank you if you are able to add me to the list. If now it is ok :(

  4. I have been banded for almost 2 years. I have lost almost 150 pounds since my surgery but have had several issues. I have had 3 additional surgeries since my initial LAP-BAND® surgery. I have had 2 port replacements and 1 surgery to move my port to make it easier for the doctor access it. My last port replacement was in November of 2009 and I need to go in for an unfill (I had my last fill in on December 30, 2009), I am having night coughs and reflux. I am scared because I do not want to gain any weight and I do not want to get another leak. I know this is stupid since I am doing myself more harm than good but I cannot afford any more expenses....I need help (mental encouragement).

    Thank you,

    Amy

  5. After months of complications (leaking port and then a flipped port) I finally had restriction. I was losing weight, eating well and enjoying my band. After 2 months I decided I needed a fill and scheduled an appointment with my doctor since I was eating more than I should. My doctor gave me a small fill (.2) and it felt like he actually removed Fluid. I have been eating like crazy (I am an admitted stress eater and I am traveling to Chicago every other week (sometimes weekly) to train someone else to take my job due to the company deciding to relocate our office and will be out of a job in November). I have GAINED 10 pounds in 1 week! I have been making bad choices and eating way more than I should (not forcing food down). I have called my doctors office for help.

I totally understand that I will get some bashing responses but some encouragement would be nice.

  6. Back in October I noticed that I only had good restriction with my band the first 2 weeks after a fill (going to the fill center to get fills). In November I went to my actual doctor for a fill and he told me how much Fluid he added and how much fluid I had in me...number sounded off but I got over it. Went back in December, restriction not good at all and my doctor added more fluid he gave me my numbers and I told him they were off. He agreed but wanted to watch me for a little bit. The end of February I had my port replaced. The end of April I had my port moved because my doctor could not get to it....

I am trying to get back on track, hoping to be successful this go around. I have only lost 2 pounds since the end of January :-(

  7. Thank you for your help. My doctor called me back and met up with me at one of the hospitals he works out of late Saturday afternoon. Even with all of my issues of late I think he is one of the best. He is so attentive to his patients needs.

    Thank you,

    Amy

  8. Back in December my doctor and I discovered I possibly had a leak in my port. We waited a couple of months to see exactly how much Fluid I was leaking and finally decided to replace my port on February 17th. My doctor only left 5.5 in my band but after 2 days of liquids and 2 of soft foods I could eat whatever I wanted to eat. I called the office and scheduled a fill for Thursday (2/26). After several attempts at finding my port he put me under flo and discovered my brand new port had flipped :( but after pushing and pulling and maipulating my body he was able to give me a fill. He took me up to 6.2...I have been as high as 6.8 so we both did not see this being a problem. We were both very wrong. I was able to drink Water when I left the office and drank a smoothie on the way home (I was in some pain from all of the pushing and have some bruising so I did not go to work). That night I had some problems drinking a smoothie but just thought that my system is just a bit swollen and irritated (I did just have surgery last week and then the difficulties getting the fill). I woke up a couple of times coughing but did not think much of it. The next morning I got my usual Frap took a couple of small sips and threw up all over myself on my ride to work. I called my boss and told her I would be working from home and explained the situation to her. I went home and threw up a few more times and e-mail the doctors office (I did not want to be too much of a pain) after several e-mails back and forth the patient advocate told me to wait 4-6 hours and try to sip warm tea that my body is swollen and my stomach is irritated. I waited slipped and threw up...and have thrown up several time since. My husband contacted her last night via phone and she told him to tell me not to try anything until this morning....same song and dance. I am completely miserable, I have called the doctor's voice mail and left a message and hope he will call back soon.

    Any suggestion please???

  9. Hopefully they made a mistake in addition or in the last fill. My docs made a calculation error and ended up with the band amount and the charted amount not matching. When it mismatched, he sucked it dry and then blew it full and made sure that after about 15 mins fully full that he could withdraw the exact same amount. Since then all has been fine.

Well, apparently my doctor made a mistake also!!!! I am so happy, although I went through days and days of worry and stress. I apparently do not have a leak, it was miscalculation and him not adding all of the Fluid back in my band

Thank you all for your support

  10. I have not posted here in a while but I had my surgery on 4-11, I went to the doctor yesterday for a fill and found out I have a leak in my tubing or my port :-(

I was going to the fill center until last month when my doctor decided to break away from True Results and I thought it was odd that when he put .3 in me band I was at 6.7 but according to the fill center paperwork I kept I should have been at 7.0....well when I went back yesterday I had 5.7 in my band. I go back on 12/29 to check it again and decide when I will have the tubing and port replaced :-( I am a self pay but they are going to see if my insurance will pay anything.

  11. I completely understand how the two of you feel. I myself am in the same boat, but I also realize that it is also one of the reasons I needed the band in the first place.

I was banded in April and I am fully aware that I have a long battle ahead of me due to the amount of weight I have to lose and my own relationship with food. I also know this is something I can overcome. I did not get this way overnight and I can't fix it with the band...however it is a great tool :)

    Good Luck!

  12. Three weeks ago (Thursday) I went in to have a fill (.2 cc) and 4 days later I had to have an un-fill because I could barely get down Water, Thursday and Friday I was fine...Saturday and sunday is another story. The PA took out the full .2 cc and told me that I more than likely did not need a fill in the first place....which was untrue. I know I am eating way too much food and I am getting hungry in-between meals.

I go back to the fill center on 10/24. Ouestion: Are they going to hassle me when I tell them I need a fill? I have not lost any weight since the un-fill...:smile2:

I guess I am getting down because I have lost a lot of weight before in the past (127 lbs with WW) and it scares the hell out of me that I will do it again. I need some words of wisdom, inspiration something...I knowthis is lame compared to some peoples issues but I need help.

  13. Michelle,

When my band was too tight the only thing I could get down was buttered popcorn. I was lucky and did not let it go too long, I had the fill on Thursday and the un-fill on Monday. I was completely miserable. It is easy to get discourage when you see huge weight losses and feel like you are going nowhere. Make an appointment with your doctor or fill center and you wil get back on track.

    Good luck,
