  1. I was sleeved on 1/29. i was o. A two week preop liquid diet and now on a 3 week liquid phase post op. The problem is since after the surgery I can hardly stomach the sweet Protein Shakes. Even the ones I used preop. And forget pure Protein, so sweet. One they make me gag!
I have some unflavored Protein Powder, but not sure what to mix it with? I also tried mixing it with Soup in the microwave and it was a clumpy mess.
    Any ideas??

    Hello Oochie,
What I saw worked for me is that I would put the Protein Drink in a cup and mix it with equal parts unsweetened almond milk. I didn't do the unflavored Protein but maybe if it's powered you can put it in sugar free pudding, oatmeal or in watered down Gatoraded.

  2. My gallbladder is already out and I usually have no problems with them or avacodos .... if this is life I’m gonna be really sad!! I just don’t want to do anything hat would cause a leak!!!!

I think your stomach maybe isn't ready yet. Try again in a couple of days that's what I did and the second time it was fine I actually did the same Beans and guacamole.

  3. So I’m on 3 weeks post op and doc said I could start soft foods like cottage cheese eggs etc... I tried some retried Beans and didn’t feel great. My stomach kinda hurt and intestines kind of felt weird . Sams with a bit if guac? Any suggestions? Is it just the fat content? Or what! Anyone else?

I don't know what it is but my stomach did not like the Beans at 3 weeks either. I have tried again and they were ok but I didn't have much. Maybe for me it's that I didn't really like beans even before surgery. I am one month post op.

  4. I'm not always hungry, but I definitely get hungry if it's been a few hours since I've eaten. I felt like I was eating too often too, but I realize while eating only about an ounce and a half per meal. It's gonna take a few times of eating to get in all my Protein. I eat about 4-5 times a day, about an ounce to 1.5 oz per meal.

I don't think there's any problem with that, I'll move down to 3 meals a day once I can actually eat like 2 oz or so.

Oh that's exactly what I'm eating 4-5 times. I was honestly getting worried I was thinking did I even have this surgery. Then I have to remind myself I am eating often but I'm not eating alot. Some days I struggle to get in all my Protein even Water. I have to keep reminding myself to drink.

  5. I also had Constipation early post op, I made the mistake of taking milk of magnesia! It was awful. It made my stomach and intestines inflammed.

I just got out of my stall. I noticed it around Christmas and I broke it monday. I'm sure you'll be out of it before you know it!

I hope I'm over this stall soon I don't want to get discouraged. I also feel like I'm always hungry I don't eat alot but o feel like I eat often does that happen to you?

  6. I had a lot is struggles starting off. With incision pain, more than usual and of course the pain meds made me nauseous. So I was only able to take tylenol. But I got super dehydrated and pass out 4 days post op. I had to go to the emergency room and get a couple bags of IV fluids. But after that happened I was adament about staying on top of my fluids. But other than that in the first 2 weeks or so I've been doing well.

    What about you? Any struggles?

Just like you mentioned incision pain but that to bad. I was having alot of trouble sleeping and on the third day I was constipated (sorry tmi lol!) Other then that I've been doing good thank God. Right now I feel like my weight loss has stalled to I'm trying to stay positive. I know little by little the weight will come off.

  7. Officially a month out today! I'm feeling pretty good. I'm getting in about 65g of Protein a day and my 64 oz of water.... I I just started nursing school too! So far so good. I notice I'm really tired around 7/8 pm but I'm not all that surprised with how little of calories we're consuming this early out. I can't wait for my 6 week appointment to add in some cooked vegetables! I'm soo ready for some variety.
Hope everyone else is doing good!

    Hw: 352

  8. I had Gastric Sleeve Surgery on Nov. 14, 2017, I’ve had good success at weight loss so far, the biggest issue I have is severe contraption.
Before surgery I had a regular bowel movement every day but now it may be once every 5 to 7 days and very hard and painful. I’ve been drinking 48 to 64 oz’s of Water daily, using Miralax and stool softeners every day. It’s now been 9 days, I NEED HELP!!!!

I am only 21 days pre op but on day 3 I experienced Constipation. I had never ever felt this in my life and I dont want ever feel it again. You know what helped me is a shake I found in a gastric sleeve cook book. Thank God the shake has half a small apple, half pear, five spinach leaves, a slice of avocado, a cup of unsweetened almond milk, 1/3 orange juice. Blend and enjoy it's actually delicious and really helped me.

  9. I had a slow down week 2, but lost 20 in week one, so definitely some Water weight. At this point there's a lot of Water fluctuation as you get rehydrated and start to intake more sodium etc. The Protein Shakes are really high in sodium too. You may want to try and measure to see if that's changing or taking a weekly picture. Even though the scale stayed the same I'm definitely seeing a difference. Week 3's weigh in is Tuesday so we'll see how that goes now that I'm on soft foods and off shakes.
Anyone else feel like they're freezing to death? It's extremely cold out right now, but I'm not comfortable unless I'm 5 feet from my wood stove where it's 80 - 90 degrees!

I'm glad to read that I'm not the only one who is freezing. I usually didn't get cold easily but now I have to sit right by my heater.

  10. I told my mother, brother and my fiancé. I told my friend when I started the process, but she doesn’t know that I will have my surgery, because she was so negative so I told her that I will not do it... am afraid of her reaction after the surgery

If she is your real friend she will be fine with it. Don't focus on her focus on yourself and on the people who are supportive. Above all you are what is important it sounds selfish I know but sometimes it has to be like that especially if its something so positive for you.

  11. My best advice for that is just don't listen to the negative. I will be honest I did not tell to many people because I did not want negative comments or anyone to talk me out of this amazing change in my life. The few people I did tell were amazingly supportive. Just keep thinking of your health and all the amazing things you will be able to do after. Like I said I am only 17 day post op but I don't regret what I did i know my health is the most important thing.

Another thing people sometimes make you think twice because they are scared and don't understand the whole process. The more information they get the easier it will be for them to be supportive.

  12. In 2015, I had my gallbladder remove and for that surgery I was not nervous at all!!!!!
But for the sleeve, I am so nervous! Extremely excited because I know is the best for me, but my best friend (like sister) she is doesn’t want me to do it, and always tell me about something wrong with the anesthesia, or bacterias.... and she try to scare me about the surgery.

  13. I will have my surg. 01/12 and i am sooo excited but nervous at the same time!!!

Trust me i was super nervous but thank God I have an amazing fiance and support system. I personally prayed alot but everyone has there own way of calming down. The actual day of my surgery I just did my best to relax and I was quiet most of the morning and just took alot of deep breaths. Not gonna lie I cried a bit before going into the operating room but the nurses and Dr were amazing with me. Another fun fact I had never had surgery so I felt extra scared but thank God everything came out great.

  14. Ok so... I went today for the last appointment before my surgery...
My pre-op diet will be one week before the surgery low carbs.
1 day before surgery liquid diet... but I hear the liquid diet is supposed to be 1 or 2 weeks before surg, so why is different with me?

That's what it's supposed to be but my date got switched and I technically only did about 4 days. I asked my Dr and he assured me I would be fine. Thank God my surgery came and went and I have not had any problems. I am 17 days post op.

  15. So I am home now after surgery I had to stay almost three days because my kidneys wouldn’t wake up for me to go the bathroom it was miserable. I am still on a lot of pain where my two most severe incisions were. I can hardly get all my Water in and in fear of major dehydration!! Please help with any thoughts!!

Try watered down Gatorade that helped me.
