    Let us know how it goes. You could also have a keto rash from lack of carbs I had that and it was pretty annoying. My tongue was white too, which is another keto thing. It goes away as you start having some carbs
  3. I had that as well when I started more activity. Do mention it to the doctor and they can check it. Mine thought it was just scar tissue being stretched etc as I moved and used the muscles. The good news is it was gone pretty quick and at least in my case was just a twang now and then va a constant pain

    Baby wearing post surgery

    The emergency lift was my daughter (almost 2 at the time) and I think she was around 30 lbs. I lifted her from the floor and that was painful. I had carried her a couple of other times but just grabbed her from the crib or changing table and that seemed ok. Not sure on the exact timing, but probably week 3 or 4.

    I end up carrying a baggie with me all day because many of my vitamins have to be at a specific time (spaced from each other). Drives me crazy... I do REALLY enjoy it when i can stop taking one though....

    Good NSV the other day. I had my first physical since the surgery and the DR was very pleased. Blood Pressure was great, pulse was great and I was down 96 lbs since seeing them last. First 'good' physical I've had in 15+ years where it didn't end with the DR making dire predictions about my health if I didn't lose weight.

    There’s a fairly high risk of hernia if you lift. The actual limit varies but usually is under 20 lbs. I have 2 young kids and did have to lift the little one a few times in emergencies and I very much felt it. I would assume you won’t be able to hold the baby. They did say if you have to hold them then not picking them up from the floor is best and having them in your lap is fine
  9. I stopped coffee for the pre op diet and never restarted. I was never a heavy coffee drinker, usually a cup a day, but I honestly don’t miss it. It’s nice because I don’t need to find coffee if I’m traveling or even think about it.
  10. I’m in that vicinity, I was 304 at the start and 296 at surgery. It’ll be 6 months next week and I’m down to 216. Goal is 190 and I expect to hit that, though loss has slowed recently to 1-2 lbs per week due to lots of exercise (I’m building muscle while I lose fat). 100 lbs is definitely doable.

    Fried Chicken

    I have Popeyes chicken strips once in a while. You just need to account for the calories (147 per strip). Usually I can eat 1 or 2 and that’s a full meal. I eat a bit lighter to accommodate at other meals, but my normal lunch is 250 calories so it’s not that different

    Surgery with children?

    I have 2 young kids, 1 and 3 at the time of surgery. I would stagger them by at least 8 weeks, that’s the typical lifting restriction. If you have someone like a relative there all the time then you could do it together, but logistically if you can’t lift the kids you have a big problem (we had this struggle even with my wife and extra help because you need to lift little ones constantly for something). It would be great to go through it together, but with that age life is hard enough!

    Snacks YES OR NO

    I have snacks, usually at night. I can't hit my protein goals without them (just not able to eat enough at meals). My snacks tend to be protein oriented. Some examples: Deli turkey and pepperoni wraps, light string cheese, light cottage cheese, greek yogurt, sometimes I repeat a meal, beef jerky, almonds. If I do carbs I try to limit it to one thing and eat it after I eat something dense like deli turkey so it doesn't "slide" through. For me carb snacks might be: PBJ (only if I ran a few miles because its high calorie), 1 oz of chips / pretzels / crackers, cheese and crackers, hummus and carrots, oatmeal (only on work out days).

    Anyone NOT lose their hair?

    I'm coming up on 6 months out and haven't had any hair loss. My nutritionist felt like I probably wouldn't because I hit all of the goals (fluid, protein, taking vitamins) the whole time so far without missing anything more than a couple calcium pills. Hair growth is normal, the only issue I did have was cracking nails so I took Biotin (starting a month ago) and that helped with the nails. Hopefully the good luck continues!
  15. So this is a high class problem, but very annoying. I used to buy clothes and when I would finally wear them they were too small... I've now donated dozens of unworn clothes that I wasted money on. Now I have the opposite problem. I went and got clothes and went to wear them and they were all too big! I think clothing sizes are less forgiving in smaller sizes or something. Anyway I had a meeting yesterday and discovered nothing fit anymore, I ended up looking like a kid wearing his dad's clothes. Planning on getting new stuff, but only a cheap couple outfits... what do you all do for clothes? Anyone purposely get stuff that is too small?

Here are some of the items I've had in similar situations: Cottage cheese (you can get small containers), greek yogurt, string cheese, beef jerky, cold meats like ground turkey, deli meat, chicken, etc, soups (put can in sink with hot water before opening it to heat it a little). Not a ton of variety, but maybe eough to get through. For extra storage you could bring a cooler an keep it full of Ice from the ice Machine.

    You should also be having at least one electrolyte beverage a day. Makes a huge difference for me.

    I went with my surgeons recommendation. Since I was in good health the sleeve seemed like a better fit due to it's less invasive nature. I also can eat more normally, which helps at business dinners etc. if I had GERD or diabetes I would have done the bypass
  19. Sounds like you may need a stool softener. My program suggested colace, which I personally use once in a while too. I also take miralax daily, which helps a lot. If I miss even a single day I start to have problems... in fact it's my least favorite part of this whole process!
  20. Didn't personally have it, but think a lot of people experience one early on. My DR said to expect weight loss to be 'lumpy'. In my case it hasn't been until just recently (month 5), and that was also associated with a food change (adding carbs in). Constipation and salt consumption can play a huge role in a stall. Some people find it helpful to just not weigh yourself for a couple weeks, stick with the program and know you're doing the right thing.
  21. It varies a bit and some nutritionists refuse to tell you and say focus on protein and water goals. I found that I was eating 800 - 1k calories for the first few months and then went up a little and was around 1,000 calories until maybe month 4. Now I'm eating quite a bit more (added carbs) and I'm having around 1500 daily. Before I added carbs back I was losing 3 - 4 lbs or more every single week since surgery and still had energy to workout and be very active. I was doing protein only (not sure that matters). I'd say if you're under 1200 you're in good shape.

    In medium doses it's a laxative, so be careful! Have plenty of water and stay hydrated. Athletes swear by it for cramps and dehydration..
  23. Doing well, though loss has slowed / stalled, partially because I’m eating more. Getting lots of exercise and feeling great. No hair loss that I’ve noticed. Just laser focused now on the last ~30 lbs, which I can tell is going to be slow going! Down 86 lbs (78 from surgery)

    Flying after sleeve

    I have flown quite a bit and taken 3 or 4 vacations since surgery 5 months ago, including a month in Florida. No issues with flying or having a normal vacation. I think the first one was maybe 8 weeks out. If you travel just have a good plan for food, both on the plane and when you arrive. I found I lost a lot of weight on vacation because I was so active.

    Dumping syndrome

    Be aware that at many places they dip steaks in butter after cooking, so there isn’t visible fat, but there is a lot of fat on it. Typically fats and sugars are the culprits.
