  1. Baby, I could do be doing better but I am working as ass off.

    Was sleeved 12/11/17.

Day of surgery I weighed 321. But I just lost 23 pounds in my 2 week preop diet. But if you go by surgery alone.

I am currently 262. making it 59 pounds lost since surgery, 82 since preop diet.

I am doing a ton of weight training. A ton, so maybe that is the reason for the slower weight loss. We're in this together, all of us. Even Losebig who is spanking it Lol

    Love you all

    Joanna

It has happened!! I lost 100 lbs! 313 to 213! To Celebrate, I got a new tattoo, not a Thanksgiving type meal I normally would have given myself as a reward. Such a great feeling, but now on those last 53 lbs....

I have my next goals, but what are my next rewards? What do you reward yourself with when you meet goals, weight or otherwise? Let me hear them, let me hear your latest accomplishments!

Was 313 your weight on day of surgery?

  3. 6 months difference. Not great, but could be worse.
The suit in picture one is too big. I have another bathing suit 1f642.png:)
    Stats:
    Nov 27- 344lbs
    Dec 11 (surgery) 321lbs
    Today: 6 mon out: 264lbs
Concentrating now on my arms and stomach. I've lost a ton on my legs, starting to look lopsided. I never wanted to be top heavy with bird legs Lol

    79lbs total!
Some who have had this surgery are blowing me out of the Water but.. who cares?

Slow and steady wins the race!

Oh my goodness thank you so much for understanding and giving me wonderfully practical advice and experience of yours. I think it is more the doctor wanted me to quit then it is the insurance and really not sure. I am psyched about being a non-smoker it's just I'm concerned about gaining weight prior to having the surgery that's all. I am doing the Nicorette gum and somebody had the nerve to tell me last night but that doesn't mean you're a non-smoker then! I could have punched him in the face LOL just kidding... Because the truth is not having a cigarette that you're inhaling is hard and getting nicotine from gum is not the same thing. But I've also cut the gum down I probably chew 4 pieces of gum a day

Oh I completely get wanting to punch them in the p-face. Lol. Girl, I still have moments where I think, I can't do this **** anymore ( life) I need a cigg lol. Trust me, I get it. Tell me this, have you checked if your insurance requires you to quit? Ask them. Find out, if you MUST be a nonsmoker for thet doctor to do it or for your insurance to cover it. If the doctor or your insurance requires you to be a non smoker. They may do a test to see if you're really quit, which is a nicotine test or a blood test. And if so, then chewing nicorette or nicotine gum would potentially fail you. Because even though you're not getting the smoke etc, you're getting the nicotine which is a drug. Stupid huh"? Because what diff does it make if you have niotine in your system? What or how is that going to affect your surgery. But find out. My insurance did a text of nicotine an dI knew about it way before, which is why I dind't go the gum route. I did Chantix and girl, it makes you fel like you're smoking. I mean, kinda sorta. It makes you "get through" those urges bc it gives you the same feeling that nioctine does. Girl, trust me, its worth asking your doctor AND your insurance. You don't want to have quit for nothing or quit but the nicotone make you still lose in the end.. Let me know what they say, I am just curious

  5. I feel your pain. Are you quitting bc the rule they have in place? If you're not made to quit not, bc your insurance says you have to , then I'd say, quit once you have the procedure not before. If your situation is like mine, you don't have that option. I had to pass a nicotine test for my insurance to cover my surgery and I had to b clean 6 weeks at least to pass nicotine for my insurance. I almost didn't get the surgery. When I learned that I had to quit and become a nonsmoker, I said to hell with that. I was a 2 1/2 pack a day smoker. I couldn't go an hour without a cigg and that in of itself was tough. I did it and yes, I gained a tad and was panicking bc hello, I dind't want them to think that I wasn't a good candidate for this surgery bc I was gaining each week a little . But if your doctor /surgeon is on board with you quitting, then he or she will or should understand, you are going to gain a little when you quit. But make sure they know you are quitting. Don't try to cheat the smoking thing and do it right before surgery, you could risk it being terminated... IF, if there is no nicotine test going to be done, Id say quit after surgery, that way you dont have to worry about them being hesitant bc of your weight gain. Make sense

On the smoking and quitting, its tough, its the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, but it CAN be done. I swear. Lots of gum. I bought straws cut them in half and used them to mimic the feeling of a cigg. I got on chantix and loads of sugar free gum. I even did therapy and I googled a ton of videos on YouTube. It helped

The key to quitting is understanding that this " I am going to die if I don't have a cigg " will pass. Just don't cave in to the urge to go and pick up a cigg. IT will pass. The addiction tells us we will die or wont' make it if we don't have a smoke, but it's a lie

    I hope this information helps

I quit on July 25, 2017. I did it early bc I wanted to give myself time for relapses before surgery date Dec 11, 2017. Fortunately, I never had one

    You can do this

It's been almost 11 months for me. I miss it. You will always want a cigg.

    But.. the degree will pass

    Hugs,

    Joanna

Your doing a fine job! Keep up the good work!

Wait, you're already at 264? Are you freakin kidding me?

What are you doing, Seahawks? O M G

I am so proud of you. And didn't you have your surgery on.. Man, I can't remember. My doctor me with me AFTER , literally day after this post and said at this point he'd have liked to see me @ 30 lbs less.

I've grieved this for two days and let it fuel me to kick some ass.

I was upset bc I have done everything I know to do. He did acknowledge some of my weight training may be the reason for the slower weight loss. I am pissed lol

    Hugs. So proud of you.

Correct me if i'm wrong, i'm fairly new to this forum...but if i see this correctly, on your own thread you could have just deleted TxAlpha's comment and blocked him? This is the route i would have chosen..seeing threads like this can't be encouraging in a journey that is hard enough as is to anyone...

Please, don't snub me. I simply posted a picture of my food and all hell has broken loose.

    I have done nothing wrong.

    So pls, just stop

Makes me sad. I feel like I have been so hurt as a child, teenager, adult for just being me and doing my thing. Its caused us all to be so self conscious and afraid to be ourselves. We can sometimes forget that people can be fragile. We have all been guilty of being insensitive at times but take the opportunity to step back and evaluate where toy we're coming from when you said what you said. I don't really see the point in criticizing unless there is a focused purpose to foster important and meaningful change. I really don't see how the comment would fit anywhere in that criteria. Just approach with kindness.

Don't be ashamed. He was SO rude and has chosen to double down at every opportunity he's had to apologize. I'm going to chalk it up to post-op depression because I refuse to believe anyone can really be that petty and mean.

Your food is feeding your new body and you've done incredibly well! It doesn't matter what it looks like - it all goes the same place! I like that you showed the size of your plate relative to your hand so that we could see the quantity you're eating at this point post-op.

Don't worry about this. You're awesome!

Thank you. I mean, I guess I am just confused. I don't know what his angle is or why the outburst of rudeness from someone I don't even know. I started to feel like I was 7 years old and he was a kid in my class Lol. It is bizarre. I guess they'd call someone like this a troll

Yes, that is exactly why I did the hand thing. And it's not gross. All it is is sliced luncheon turkey with a melted cheese stick. It's not gross to me. And it's easy to measure this way. I eat a lot of turkey and chicken and yes , these cheese sticks bc they're not bad in calories. I thank you for your support

and I thank you for coming to my aid.

It's people like you that are hero's in this world

Although I am not weak at all, but more just tired and confused to try to even engage in this spitting contest, I am super impressed that you said " Hell to the No" and decided to call out RUDE behavior

Good for you, and.. thank you

    You look amazing! Well done!

Toomanytacos, I know how you feel--I've lost less than many other people on here. I know some of the reasons (it's been a rough eight months or so in ways having nothing to do with the surgery), but I just keep thinking about what I can do to change my eating habits and get *some* exercise going forward. This is a marathon, not a sprint, as the saying goes. The real goal is to make sure you maintain your losses long-term, not that you lose super quickly now.

Do you do Facebook? if so would you like to be friends? My name is JoannaLynn Burrell.

Did you lose during your preop diet. What were you day of surgery and what did you weigh now? And if you lost during preop diet how much was it?
