Your're doing so great!!! This gives me so much hope!!!Yep, a week tomorrow!
I'm good, mostly! Better than I had expected to be, honestly.
My arthritis has retreated. I think my immune system is just busy healing up the surgery damage for now, but it would be pretty amazing if it just stayed away.
The biggest incision hurts some, but it's manageable enough that I haven't had even the Tylenol in days, let alone the harder stuff. There's a lot of gurgling in there, just like a pre-op empty stomach, which leaves me feeling like I'm hungry, even though I know I can't force liquids in much faster. I know it'll eventually go away. My sternum hurts with some things I try to drink and, very rarely, when I haven't had anything. I'm on Prilosec, so I am assuming the random times are because I've been doing my breathing exercises wrong or something. I dunno.
I'm over 64 ounces of liquid per day without having to work super hard anymore, which is nice: I can take big enough sips now that I felt safe pulling out my favorite coffee mug (which is pretty big), if not the coffee itself yet. [emoji4] Decaf black tea has been the main source of hydration for me, outside of Protein Shakes, Jello, and popsicles. I am, mentally, enough of a small child that the chicken noodle Soup broth makes me feel better, when I have it, too.
I'm in the high 50s on grams of Protein every day (plus whatever's in the broth, who knows?), and I've broken 60 once.
I've been doing short walks every day, in addition to the standard hourly pacing around the house; tonight's walk was over half a mile, and I feel good. (I don't want to push too far, too fast.)
And it looks like you're about a week from your surgery! How are you holding up?

I had broccoli cheddar Soup from publix today. I did not strain it. I just mushed thecalready very mushy broccoli pieces down. I had about 3 oz. It was amazing. That was at noon. It is now almost 10 pm and I'm still stuffed. Did I mess up??

Thank you so much! I actually feel much better. It was a pressure every time I drank water. I am able to get water down now with no issues. Thank God! I had very bad reflux before surgery, and I think that is going to be a huge problem now, unfortunately. Are you confusing "chest pain" with heart burn? Are you taking a daily PPI? During the first two weeks I had to get my surgeons Ok to take my prilosec twice a day. And adjusting the time made a the relief for my heart burn / chest pain.
My first week at home I was slow with liquids- normal. But I did have to play around with Water, add flavor, change temperatures (one day Rooney temp, next ice cold, next with ice) one I got the flavors and temp right it was much easier. I also lived on Bone Broth my first two weeks to get my Protein because it hurt to drink Protein Shakes.
The first 2-3 weeks your belly is definitely healing and needs time to adjust, don't forget you had a breathing tube during surgery and that also creates some irritation with fluids. Just take your time and try to stay hydrated followed by your Protein.

I had my surgery on October 4 and I am 2 days out from surgery and I feel miserable. Is this normal? All I want to do is lay in bed all day. How long before I start feeling better? I can't keep any Water down. I chugged too fast yesterday and threw up stomach bile. I don't think I even get down 16 oz of water per day. Am I facing dehydration?

You are amazing for doing this! A natural leader and motivator! How are you feeling? I had mine the day after you. I am feeling much better today than even earlier today while I was in the hospital. I was able to get a few sips of a protien shake and I think I have come back to life again. Lol how are you doing? DM me. Lets keep in touch! How are our October 1 sleevers doing?

Best of luck to you all! Check in when you can!
I'm one of the October 3 folks, and I won't do my post-surgery check-in before I get home on (here's hoping) the 4th--I use these forums through the browser, not the app. I also won't update the list of surgery buddies for a couple of days, so if someone else wants to, feel free? But I'll scroll back and add people, once I'm up to it, so no worries.
Here's the list as it stands now, so you can all find and befriend your surgery buddies! [emoji173]️

I am wondering how it is all going to work out with scheduling, but this is the first thing I have ever done for myself so I am going to make it work!
I am a teacher as well! My surgery date is tomorrow. I am taking tomorrow and Friday off, and then I have Monday and Tuesday off for fall break. I plan on going back on Wednesday of next week, so I really hope it all goes well, and I recuperate fast! I would hate for my poor sixth graders to feel the wrath of my hanger... nobody likes that. You can ask my family. Poor guys have been living with demon mom/wife for 2 weeks now.

Hey guys, just wanted to get some clarity about what are full liquids vs Clear Liquids? Also, when did your surgeon have you all start clear liquids only pre-operatively? I am on 4 Protein Shakes per day and I am sick of the sweet. Surgery is October 4th. I am wondering what I could do besides Premier Protein shakes from now until surgery.

Thanks everyone. I know I have to get my head in the game, but if food was not so hard to master, I wouldn't be on here in the first place. Moving forward, I am going to do exactly as directed. No slip ups. Thank you so much for the encouragement!

2 minutes ago, FluffyChix said:Yes. It is super dangerous. And if your doc can't do surgery, you could wake up without it.
Is it too late to start? If I follow the last 9 days 100%, should it be ok?
Yare_2018, cnjsmom and Frustr8 reacted to this -
I have not been 100% on this pre-op diet at all. I am about 9 days away... I do Protein Shakes all day long, and then go home and eat a full plate of food. I can't stop. Am I sabotaging this surgery? Is this super dangerous? What are complications that could come from this?

Read about the fat whoosh. It explai s that very thing.
Ag001 I definitely understand the stall I got to 245 and have been there for weeks now. I figure it's your body adjusting.. the scale really doesn't say anything about the. Inches.

I feel the same qay. Am I making a mistake????My date is 10/15/18. I am getting more excited/nervous every day. I've been working on getting approval for a little over a year. I am an (traveling) operating room nurse and I know exactly how/what goes on pre-op and during surgery. It's more of what happens post op that has me nervous. I don't want to wake up thinking "WTF did I just do to myself?" I want to heal properly, with no complications, and be able to follow all the rules/recommendations. I want it to be an uneventful recovery. I know I'm letting my nerves get to me. I'm not generally an anxious person. (Except when flying.) However, this is the biggest life changing experience that I've ever faced. How do you deal with all the emotions/nerves?

I’ve been laying low with my progresss because of the same reason (of getting my hopes up) but today I got the call and I have my surgery date for 10/24 and my pre-op appointment is 10/4 .. I’m excited, nervous, and anxious. But I’m mentally and physically ready to get this done and over with so that I smash my goals and get my life back!
When do you start you pre-op diet?I meet with my doctor for the pre-op appointment on this upcoming Wednesday. I think it should be shortly after that. What about you?

Brittani, that is exciting. What date are you shooting for?Hi!
In the process of getting approved for surgery, but my BMI is 40.5 and no comorbidities, similar to you. I have all of my appointments scheduled, so once those have gone through, I'll find out if I'm approved by my insurance company for surgery. I'll hopefully be getting my Sleeve Gastrectomy done within 2-4 months.
Wish me luck and congrats on your surgery date!
