  1. I had surgery 2 weeks ago and since I started weighing (about 4 days after surgery), I have lost -- wait for it -- 3 pounds. Maybe 2.5 if we're being technical. I'm supposed to start the puree stage tomorrow and I saw the nutritionist today, who suggested drinking less Water and avoiding bouillon because of the salt. Seriously.

Don't get disheartened my doctor reminded me yesterday everyone's body is different. I couldn't see and feel the difference for over 2 months. Was sleeved early February and as of yesterday I'm down 53 lbs since surgery day. For some that's losing at a snail's pace. I'm no longer diabetic, sleep apnea is getting better, off most of my hypertension medications and no longer having shortness of breath when I walk. Keep the faith and press on my dear. Best of luck with your journey!

    • It makes one since sleeve done. I AM THE SAME WEIGHT I WAS SINCE SURGERY DATE. the pre op diet had me lose 13 pounds, and now zero. Why? I know I haven't used the restroom and took stool softners as well as laxatives...but the amt of food eaten on this post diet( two Protein shakes...broth..sugar free pops) had me lose before. Getting disappointed.

Don’t feel disheartened everybody bodies react differently! You will do just fine, try not to weigh yourself weekly. Best of Luck!

  2. I was the 7th as well! I still have a drain in so once i get rid of that i will be super happy! No other issues other than some slight head hunger (not hungry at all for real thou) and sick of liquid diet! My doc requires liquids for 3 weeks post op so I’m screwed. Lol how are u?

I had surgery on the 7th too! Can you have Jello or yogurt during the liquid phase. I can’t take aspartame so I was introduced to the True Lime packets. I got unflavored Gelatin and made lime jello ( I was able to chew the jello) so that helped my brain! The 3 weeks will fly by we approaching the 1 week mark!

  3. Had mine this morning.. well yesterday morning. Surgery was quick wasn’t expecting the gas pain to be this bad, I’m so thankful I have had incredible nurses. I’m swallowing Water fine but once it gets down to the stomach I have a little discomfort! Good luck everyone!

Congrats! How is your gas pain? I found walking very helpful. The doctor ended up ordering gas tablets too.

  4. Well, I’ve scheduled a consult for myself for March 8th. I imagine I’ll be at least a month or so behind my husband depending on my requirements. We have different insurance plans so we will see how it all plays out. We are using the same bariatric practice but as of now, we’ve been assigned different surgeons. Ideally, I would like our WLS to be only a week or so apart but I’ll have to see what they say at the practice.

Congrats to you both as you begin this journey. I am recovering from the sleeve (2/7/18). If you have extra help at home to help with the daily routine then go for it. You will need some help within the first 2 weeks because of lifting restrictions driving limitations for the first 5-7 days etc- Best of luck on your journey as a couple!

  5. Thanks for the Welcome! I’m still working through the extra gas ( my body is taking a bit longer to expel all that CO2). I’m walking, using the incentive spirometer and trying to get my required liquids in. Day 1 post op was tedious, I would suggest that upcoming sleepers discuss gas management with the surgeon pre-op just in case it becomes a problem. I start my Full Liquids Stage on Monday. Clears have been very tolerable I had IBS and diverticulitis in the past so I keep homemade Bone Broth on hand. Really haven’t used any store bought broths so far ( I’ll see if I want to change flavors over the next 2 days).

  6. Im having a hard time with both Water n protien intake. Not many brands of protien are sitting well with my stomach. My nut told me to drink them really slowly...that it may take 4 hrs to finish one. Im sipping fluids all day but really small sips so i manage abt 35-40 oz a day. A lil frustrating. Do u feel restriction when drinking?

Sorry that many of the Protein brands are not working! What brands have you tried, have u tried any plant based products- Unjury has a plant based unflavored option! Have u experimented with adding some flavoring to your Water, I can’t do anything with aspartame so I am tolerating the True Lemon True Lemon Products! Found Lemon Ginger Teabags super soothing too- hope you find some products that work. Hydration is key in this process. Best of Luck.
