First day home - who can relate?

Thank you all so much. You’re right, it is all normal, and walking does seem to help. It’s so painful when I swallow though, going down my chest part, especially panadol. It’s so weird waking up and not being so hungry when I have barely eaten. I can see that I will be losing a lot of weight very fast if this is all I can eat, I’m just scared of getting dehydrated. Water just doesn’t sit very well, but neither does apple juice or anything... I’m on day 3 and trying to take small sips of an optifast shake but it’s making me gag. Everyday I feel a bit better though, and as long as I am getting enough in, I’m excited about the fact I’m not hungry and can’t eat. I just want the discomfort to subside. You’re all amazing - thank you so much for your support!

Thanks Lainey, I keep getting the hiccups too. Yes, walking has helped a bit. I hope this phase passes soon. It’s really feeling horrible right now.

    Liver shrinking diet

I was only allowed 3 shakes a day for 2 weeks. Do your best to stick to it. I had a few minor slip ups, but it was ok. You got this!

No need to be rude about it, sheesh.

    About to go in

All went well, surgeon said it couldn’t have gone better. Pains much better this morning, but I still feel as though I’ve been kicked in the chest. Breathing in deeply still hurts a lot too. Burping apparently helps with gas pain. Still haven’t eaten anything, but taking small sips. I’m about to go in for my x-ray and then I can go home - a bit nervous of how I’ll be at home, but I think I will be ok if the pain medication is good. Love to you all and blessings. Even in pain I know this is the best decision of my life Xxxx

  7. My mums a gossip too - it’s very annoying. I told her to just leave the hospital before my surgery today because she couldn’t put her phone down and stop messaging everyone. It was stressing me out...

    Goodbye Phat Girl

Here’s my update y’all! So today has been a day of long waits... I finally went in, and I woke up to the anaesthetic in the worst possible way - I could not breath - it was half a dream but half real. Anyway, recovery is completely fine except for gas pain in my chest - now I know exactly what everyone is talking about. Taking tiny sips of drinks, makes me do tiny burps bringing a bit of gas up. My pain is definitely all in the chest area related to the gas... I am also a smoker - so don’t smoke before this surgery! I know it’s hard but that’s easily the most dangerous thing I can see about this. It’s 1am here and I had my surgery around 2pm. I’ve been trying to sleep everything off and the staff here have been really good. I’ve only felt well enough for my phone now, but pain killers are ok. Everyone is different. I gave birth naturally twice, but this chest pain hurts and scares me more, other people are fine post-op. Once this chest pain subsides, I am sure I will be A ok. Good luck xxx
  9. So my sleeve is happening on the 2nd, and just want to share some of my thoughts. I have had it with being that fat girl in the group, strangers telling me about their dieticians, and gyms, as though I was never skinny, which I was before having my last child. I am sick of it. I am sick of them making assumptions about me, as though my body is public property to be fat shamed. Yes, I am giving in to the fat shaming by doing it, but I am also getting my power back because I am sick of people that aren't better than me looking down on me. Judging me. I don't want to lose my curves and booty, but I know I will. I am about 85kgs - 187lbs. I hope that in 3 months time there will be a noticeable difference. I hope it's even sooner than that. I am grieving food, and wine. So I like food... is that such a crime? But I also want to be healthy... I wonder how soon I can start doing weight training and if I'll have energy? Will I have to take weights easier? How soon can I be in a spin cycle class? I don't want loose skin. What is everyone else looking forward to the most after surgery - be honest! I am doing this for me, but I can't wait to rub my hot new bod in everyone's face!
  10. My surgery is meant to be on the 2nd of December, and I just broke my diet. I had wine and couldn't resist the Thai I got for the children. At the time I was just like, "to hell with it, it's the last time I will get to eat coconut rice", but now I am scared that I have jeopardised my surgery. I just want the rest of my life to start right now because sticking to this is soooooo hard. Do I have to tell my surgeon. Do you think it will be an issue if I stick to it for the next two days? Please don't judge me harshly. Thanks in advance.

  16. Hi all, My surgery is getting close, it's on the 2nd, and I would love some buddies! I am excited about this new stage of my life, and also so scared. Also grieving my stomach, because I love food and wine. I am struggling a lot with this all liquid diet. Does anyone still drink coffee? How is everyone else feeling?

    Goodbye Phat Girl

Yay, thanks for signing up! I can't wait to start running, or being picked up too by a big stone man hehe My op is on Saturday. They called me today to move it to 10am from midday. I am SOOOOO FRICKEN EXCITED!!!!!!!! I can't wait for so much. I wonder how soon it will be until I need smaller size clothes? I am really hungry right now, but just one more day of this stupid liquid diet, and it will be surgery time!!!

    Upcoming surgery

Hi all, I have my surgery coming up on the 2nd December, and I am starting to get so nervous. I have started Optifast and so far, that's fine. I am definitely ready for this surgery, but I am scared it won't work for me, or that weightless will be very slow. What kind of weightless can I expect in 3 months in kgs? And when would I be well enough to go to spin class and do weights? Will I need multi-vitamins? I have so many questions. I am so afraid the weight will pile right back on after a few years... Any words of confidence right now will be very appreciated. Thanks

3 days out and I broke

I'm sure one break isn't going to make a difference when so many people don't even have to do this stupid diet until the last two days. I just suggested laxatives in case it is just to make sure that your stomach is empty. I have been exercising a lot and on the liquid diet, so it increased my hunger. I think it will be fine, and I am going to be strict now until Saturday. Thank you everyone for your helpful replies.

3 days out and I broke

That's so weird - is it from the anaesthetic. I'll have to research it to prepare myself. Hope you're feeling great in no time - posting up before and afters! Yeeehhh well done!! woot woot!

3 days out and I broke

Gas in the shoulder? Woah, not ready for that! How does swallowing feel? You broke five days out, that's not as close as I am, but hopefully my stomach will be empty by surgery. Girl, you're going to be looking good in no time - are you happy?

3 days out and I broke

Amazing! I am in Australia, so is Thanksgiving close to when you had your surgery? How are you feeling? I am so excited!!!
  25. YummyMummy303

3 days out and I broke

Thank you both so much - that helps a lot. I am not in the morbidly obese zone, just obese, so not sure how big my liver is. I still shouldn't have done it. My surgery is about midday on Saturday, so if I get through Thursday and Friday, hopefully it will be fine. I was meant to stick to just three protein shakes a day - it's way too strict. I mean, if I didn't have food issues, I wouldn't be doing this. I feel like fat me is trying to sabotage skinny me and my healthy future. I just want to be strong now. I am so excited about my future and all of the before and after pictures are so inspiring. I was thinking of taking laxatives - do you think that would help?
