  1. Dehydration can be dangerous. If you truly can't keep fluids down, that's an emergency. MAKE CERTAIN to tell the ER or Urgent Care staff that you had sleeve surgery and the date. Bring documentation with you!
  2. Switch doctors. Your doctor is out of date...which doesn't speak well of her keeping up on her continuing education. My doctor's been asking me to consider WLS for over 10 years. So far, so good.
  3. I've been using rogain as a preventative, too. Put a little foam on before bed around my hairline and crown a couple times a week, and shampoo it out in the morning. Here's hoping!
  4. I liked all his weird little dogs. And that he tasted his axe. If I were Yukon Cornelius, I'd taste my axe, too. Hell, I might go out in the garage and taste an axe just to be festive. But my most favorite of all..... Was the Bumble. Of course.
  5. The lesson of Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer....competence gets you nowhere, you must look the part or Santa will be ashamed of you. Unless, you know, his arse is in a jam and he has no other choice than to utilize your talents to cover his own butt. Personally? I identify as a gay dentist elf. Molars and Bicuspids fascinate me. Go Hermie...choose the cerebral path less traveled. You inspire me.
  6. Fluffy? Why am I such a misfit? Bahahahahaha!
  7. LOLOLOLOL Put your torch out...gather your things. The island of misfit toys for you!
  8. They were here yesterday....but gone today for me. Weird!
  9. I'm the lucky one. My hubster is the cat's pajamas on crack. The man has the patience of God...lol. Wouldn't trade him in for an international super model movie star. He's the peas to my carrots. And he makes me laugh.
  10. Personally, if a guy would write me off because I was a little heavy....I wouldn't give him the time of day. I've got no time for shallow asshats. Beauty fades, people get old, if you're not primarily attracted to the heart and mind...the whole relationship has a superficial ick factor that, frankly....feels empty and sort of gross to me. I want more. I deserve more. (And thank God I got more...25 years with a guy who begged for sex nightly when I was 270 and thought I was the sexiest thing on the planet cause he's in love with my smarts and creativity and heart) Someday, when we're 75 and wrinkled prune people with fat little tummies and scrawny limbs...I know he's still gonna find me hot and be endlessly amused by my company. That matters. That's love.
  11. My surgeon said in a seminar that about once a week he has a patient in tears at the hospital after surgery saying they have regrets. And they always feel better after a few weeks. it's a very emotional time, and the hormone swings of the big physical changes don't help. It's very common. Just do your best. it's all anyone can ask of you.
  12. Sleeve heals faster, hands down. Shorter surgery, too.
  13. I went in for my first consult in May, had my surgery in December. My insurance required 6 months of medically supervised weight loss, psychiatrist, upper GI (which ended up requiring an endoscopy due to what they found), chest X-ray, EKG, and labs. Everyone kept the ball rolling and kept me on target...went very fast and worked out great:)
  14. I'm an oldschool Fitbit user. I like that it measures my calories burned, because that's my real goal everyday. I eat healthy and exercise until I have left a 1000 calorie deficit each day. If I want to eat more, I have to exercise more. If I want to take it easy, I go easier on the calories. Most days I burn 3000 calories. (now that I've been sleeved and have a calorie intake goal of around 1200 calories, this might change) I like that the Fitbit (I use a Charger 2) keeps track of my sleep and heartrate and how my cardiovascular fitness is doing. I also like the challenges with other friends who use it.
  15. Walk every chance you can. It will help you bounce back so fast! Congrats!
  16. I had to lose 10%....which was 27 pounds. I ate 1800 calories a day, and exercised like a mad woman until I burned 3000 calories each day. Tons of walking, especially. The Fitbit is a wonderful tool. Took me about 16 weeks to do it...but I did it:)
  17. I'd be doing a happy dance over 5 pounds a month. You didn't put it all on in a few months....takes time to lose it safely:) Be patient and stay healthy.
  18. You can't go wrong with mashed potatoes. Who doesn't like mashed potatoes?
  19. My nutritionist said to make sure to keep calories up to 1200 a day...that it will help with the severity of hair loss.
  20. Egg salad, mashed potatoes, refried beans.
  21. Ginger and mint herbal teas really help with gas. So does the spice Cumin. Probably not a real answer...but they can't hurt?
  22. Wow! Your doc never mentioned it, Gretsada? My general practitioner has been begging me to consider weight loss surgery for 15 years. He's convinced it's going to vastly improve my life....and I think he might be right:)
  23. I'm with you. Providing a little education for those who sincerely are interested is worth the gossip. I told the town gossip about my surgery purely because it's always so much fun to find out things about myself that I never knew! LOL. If you're someone who takes stupidity to heart and feels crushed when people are wrong about you....don't do it. If you have a thick skin and a good attitude...the world needs more advocates of truth and education. Desperately. Also....what your friend would choose...isn't always what's best for you. You are two different people. And that's ok:)
  24. One pound a week is awesome! One pound a week is 52 pounds a year. Slow and steady wins the race. Make sure you're eating 1200 calories, and try to exercise every day...even if it's just walking, the more you run the furnace and give it good things to burn....the better it works. Good luck, everyone:)
  25. I got tested for it before surgery because my endoscope showed gastritis. They took some biopsies and sent them in during the pre-surgical endoscope. Luckily, the inflamation in my stomach was just causes by the ibuprofen I took a lot of to manage my arthritis. No H. Pylori. I feel bad for folks who find out after the fact....that sounds so rough.
