For some reason I have had quite a bit of pain and discomfort myself. I have hardly had anything all day but when I do drink something other than water it hurts a lot...

My doc never mentioned having protein shakes after surgery. All I have been told to do is be on full liquids now for two weeks. Most of the time I am not hungry at all but every now and then I get hungry and I just have something liquid. Broth, soy milk, juice, pudding, apple sauce...yep they are allowed. She said as long as it isn't thicker than pudding. I did try to have a protein shake today and didn't even get half way thru it. I was also told to try and get a GALLON of liquids a day, I know i am not getting close to that.

Looking for great recipes, low-carb and HIGH protein
Insky67 replied to rondawood63's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went to our local library and check out some low carb cook books. I am trying to adhear to the same kind of diet...low carb, high Protein. One that I tried recently is a chicken satay recipe... here it is. 3 whole boneless chicken breasts, skin removed 1/2 cup roasted peanuts 1 teaspoon mild curry powder 1/4 cup soy sauce 2 tablespoons dark sesame oil pinch of chili powder Preheat oven to 325. Cut the chicken into 1/2 inch chunks and arrange them on the skewers evenly. Rest the skewers on a baking sheet covered with foil. In a nonstick skillet roast peanuts over medium heat until fragrant. let them cook a little and chop them coarse. Put the nuts in a bowl with remaining ingredients, stir well and pour over chicken skewers. Bake 10 minutes and serve. Protein: 10.6G Fat: 3G Carb: .5G This recipe came from a book called "The Low-Carb Cookbook" by Fran McCullough. I like this book a lot! She talks a lot about how to stock your pantry and lots of other hints and medical type information...stuff for maintaining a low carb diet and why it is so beneficial. -
Doc says surgery went well but I gotta tell you...I never imagined the pain would be this bad! Had I known I don't think I would have gone thru with it.:crying: I had surgery on June 4th and since then I have lost 10 pounds for a total now of like 22 I think (bad at math lol). I am praying for the day I wake up and feel much better.

I can completely relate! My surgery was on the 4th of June and it has been the worse pain of my life! :driving: Having a baby was a cake walk compared to this. Are you doing any better today? My recovery has been slooooooow, getting on the computer today was a real task...hang in there.:incazzato: -

I am so excited to read about the June bandsters who have just had the surgery! How amazing is it that a doc can go into your body and you can still drive yourself home! WOW! What a trooper. I go in tomorrow morning. I have to be there at 6 am and they don't do the procedure until 9 am! Wish me luck!

:thumbup:Look at June! There are a lot of us! Can you put me down for June 4th, that's my day!

Who's getting banded in June
Insky67 replied to To be free's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm scheduled for June 4th too! I've lost 15 lbs on the pre-op diet. -
Can anyone tell me how to add my ticker factory thingy under my signature?
-
I'm excited! My surgery is June 4th...I was told to lose 5 pounds before then and I have lost 15! I hope this is a sign of what is to come...
-
Thanks Paty.

BanTam, I've been thru the whole "what kind of lose am I" thing too. I agree with you completely, I know it is a tool I just hope it is the right tool. Thanks for your support.

Two days before me!! June must be a good month.
-
I am day two into pre-op diet and I am dying! All I can think about is food...it has made me second guess this whole thing. I feel like chucking it all and eating cake.
-
20 lbs before June 9?? Wow, I only have to lose 5 by June 4th and i am afraid I won't even be able to get that off. The pre-op diet is killing me...I am so hungry and craving everything.
-
congrats! Robin
-
Thanks BanTam. I guess I am just feeling unworthy right now and so afraid I won't make it work. Why should this work when nothing else has...ya know?
-
I am having second thoughts. I don't think I can do this. I don't think I can or want to give up food. I am already failing on the pre-op diet...I can't go all day without eating...the protein shakes aren't enough to help me make it without food. I think I need to cancel my surgery for June 4th. I think if I have the band put in I will still fail. I don't know what to do.
