Markg17 got a reaction from UndercoverDiet in What you wish you'd known before having weight loss surgery
So I had my sleeve on 11-6.. I’ve read a lot of stories on how hard it was to drink water.. how painful the removal of the drain tube was.. I’ve had zero problems drinking Water I’ve always loved water and I can drink a glass of water with no problem just take smaller drinks.. soft foods have been a problem .. the biggest thing I wish I knew was that eve tho ur not hungry your mind is still addicted to food and I CRAVED unhealthy food and was not hungry at all.. I had to drink blue Powerade after surgery so if I had a leak it would be in my drain tube it gave me horrible heart burn and caused me to vomit a lot .. I wish I just drank purple Kool aid instead sugar free of course.. an when u get to eat again if u over eat .. it hurts ur mind says eat it up but please please go slow it’s painful if you don’t

Markg17 got a reaction from GwennyPenny in Alcohol
It hasn’t been a topic with my dr because I know I can’t drink carbonated drinks and we have discussed alcohol because I told him I wasn’t worried about drinking .. I’m 3 weeks out it was just a question I had for people that drank earlier

Oh Shereen!! So sorry you are in dire straits. You need to get in touch with your surgeon.
How come you are not drinking? Is Water an issue going down? Try warm tea or hot chocolate Protein Drink.
Do you have too much restriction? Nausea? It could be a stricture keeping you from getting food down. What about greek yogurt or cottage cheese?
Your kidneys will shut down if you don't drink.

Markg17 reacted to UndercoverDiet in Time out of work
My surgery is on Tuesday. I'm thinking I'll return to work the following Wednesday. I work in an office setting. I walk from my office to the printer about 30 times a day. Does this sound reasonable?

I had a 2-day hospital stay after surgery, with no complications. I took a week off but didn't really feel I needed to. Now 1-month out I wish I could take some time to adjust to my diet more.

yes, I'm healing well, one month post op and training for a marathon, not happy with the scarring, but I'm black so I expected it to be a little worse but not this bad

Markg17 reacted to Sullie06 in "lose as much weight as you can"
My surgeon did warn of the bounce-back, he said it's normal to bounce back 5-10 pounds when you settle into maintenance so he set my goal 10 pounds less than where he wants me to be long term.
That being said I also say maintain your body where it feels most comfortable for you. My surgeons goal is 175 with 185 long term so that's slightly above normal BMI for me but at almost 5'11" I feel pretty comfortable where I am right now (185-188) If I lose more great, but if I don't at least I'm at a place where Im much healthier.

That sounds awful. I hope you are feeling better now but if not, please call your doctor again. This doesn't sound normal. Good luck!
