I'm so happy that your surgeries went well. I understand walking helps with the gas so I'm guessing it should help with the tummy discomfort too. Would love to hear your stories as the days progress. It will help me get an idea of what to expect and it might help you guys out to write it out. I know several people who are keeping journals so they can look back to see what they've been through and understand how far they've come. Just a suggestion. Keep us informed. It will inspire us in the weeks and months to come. Candy

@FluffyChix You have been through so much. Why were you denied RNY before? It seems to me you have enough comorbidities to warrant insurance coverage. I look forward to getting to know you better. Candy

Kathy, You are amazing! I'm hoping to join you in your success. I've got the orientation and phone appointment in the second and third weeks of January so I'll know more then. Can't wait.

@SkyJade Thank you for all the information. It really helps hearing what everyone's going through. I'm going to be in South City, too. My orientation is 1/9/18 and I have a phone consult with John Phillips, NP, which I assume is a nurse practitioner, on 1/16/18. Do you remember the names of the surgeons in South City? Just curious. I'm so happy you've been able to get off your meds. I understand all the meds you were on. I'm there. Are you having any problems or has it been a smooth transition? I'm hoping you had a good post-op adjustment. Keep us updated. Candy

Congratulations on your surgery and especially the reduction of your blood pressure meds. That's awesome! And your joints improving - spectacular! How are you handling your food and water intake? Your surgical pain should be easing, right? Keep up the good work and let us know how you're doing. Candy

I thought it would be good to have a thread for the senior set to help encourage each other during our journey. I'll start: My name is Candy - I kid you not - and I'm 64. I have my orientation with Kaiser on 1/6/18 with a phone appointment with a surgeon the next week, 1/13/18. I'm very excited to start my wls journey. I'm 5'7", current weight 220, BMI 34.5. I have degenerative disc disease exacerbated by my weight. I also have GERD, general arthritis, costochondritis (inflammation of the rib joints in my chest), arthritis at the site of back surgery, Type 2 diabetes, peripheral neuropathy in my feet. There could be more but that's all I can think of at the moment. Let me know who you are and how old with all your stats. Maybe we can be a support group. I'm new as well, with my orientation 1/6/18, so let me tell you what I've been doing. It might help you. Read everything you can on this website. Most of the threads are extremely relevant. Many people ask questions and get answers that could help you in your journey to a decision. The people here are super friendly and very helpful so don't be shy about posing your questions. Nice to meet you. Good luck on your journey through this website.

Have you talked to your doctor about this? Doesn't sound right to me but I'm no doctor. Keep walking. It's supposed to help the gas. Let us know how you're doing. Pretty soon you'll be passed all this. Keep positive. You can do this!! Candy

I joined BP in November, will have my orientation on January 6th and a phone appointment with my surgeon on January 13th. I'm just getting started but I'm really excited. Thanks for starting the thread. Candy
