  1. Good luck! Keep us updated as you can. Candy
  2. That's fantastic! You should be very happy with that. I know I would. Have you had any problems along the way? Remind me: What surgery did you have? Thanks, Candy
  3. Oh, it looks like I'll be having my surgery in South San Francisco. Candy
  4. Bits, How did your surgery go? Let us know when you're up for it. Candy
  5. @MG1776 Mike, I add a couple questions about pre-op testing. I have my orientation scheduled for 1/6/18 and a phone appointment with my surgeon 1/13/18. Did Kaiser require a sleep study? I had other questions but you already answered them in your previous post. Thanks! Candy
  6. I think that question would be best answered by your surgeon or Nut. Candy
  7. Yes, new beginnings! Candy
  8. My orientation is on Tuesday, January 9th with a phone appointment with my surgeon a week later, January 16th. It's beginning!!! I'm so excited. I plan on posting something after each point in the process. Candy
  9. Well, today I confirmed with my pcp that huge made the referral so now I just wait on pins and needles for the bariactric department to call me to schedule my first appointment. I've already checked with Kaiser's benefits department and the procedure is covered. So now I can't wait for my first appointment. Wish me luck. Candy
  10. Thanks, everyone. I'll check out all that are mentioned. Candy
  11. Two things actually: 1. What apps can you recommend for tracking weight loss; 2. What apps can you recommend for a food diary. Or is there one app that does both? Thanks in advance. Candy
  12. Well done! You are an inspiration for us all. Congratulations!!! Candy
  13. I don't know why that got posted twice I think I hit a wrong button. [emoji1] Candy
  14. Hi to Di and Whiskey. I'm also going through Kaiser Northern California. I haven't had my appointment yet. I know people will think I'm nuts but I'm working on gaining 5 pounds so I can get my BMI up high enough. I'm currently 5'7", 210 lbs, and I recently turned 64. There are other Kaiser members around. I started a thread "Looking for Kaiser members." Several people responded so you might want to look for that thread. Hope to talk to you again.
  15. Thanks to all that have responded. I have diabetes, Gerd and chronic bad back, all that I think that will benefit from wls. I'm thinking that the RNY will be the procedure I'll have due to the Gerd and diabetes. I want to be around for my grandkids and not sit out of their activities. Thank you again. Would love to chat more with anyone who's interested. I live in San Quentin in Northern California to give a point of reference. Candy
  16. I'm a ways away from this decision but would appreciate responses as to what surgery you choose and the reason why. I'm leaning towards gasric bypass but would like to know what everyone did. Thanks in advance! Candy
  17. Have you talked to your doctor? I'd do that right away. Sent from my LG-V410 using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. Congratulations! That's an awesome accomplishment.
  19. I don't know which Kaiser I'll have the surgery at. My pcp is in Petaluma but I think there are only three locations in northern California where they do the surgery. Possibly Richmond. My pcp is on vaca for Thanksgiving and won't be back until Monday, the 27th. I'll ask if he's sent the referral then. Till then, I'm reading everything I can on this site. I'm definitely learning a lot.
  20. Bits, I hope the surgery went well. Let us know when you feel like it.
  21. Thanks, Mike. I hope I can get everything done as quickly as you did.
  22. Thank you. I appreciate the response. Which facility will you be at? Good luck today!
  23. I'm way at the beginning of my wls quest. My doctor approved my request to be a wls candidate so I'm now waiting for instructions. This is all through Kaiser Northern California. I'm looking for people that have had their wls with Kaiser. What were the steps you took to get the ball rolling? Which wls did you have? I'd like to know what the preop is like. I'd like to find out which surgery you considered. Basically just on an information search while I'm waiting. Thank you in advance. Candy
