  1. I also had surgery with Dr K in Denver for $9950. The first three months of aftercare are included then he charges $15 per fill after that. Mexico wasn't an option for me and I was VERY lucky to find a great surgeon in my area!
  2. I drink a soda occasionally and have never had any trouble.
  3. Good luck Sheila! I will keep you in my thoughts! Post when you can and let us know how you are! :clap2:
  4. I LOVE this analagy!! (sp?)
  5. I totally agree about the walking. I was on my way home within an hour of leaving the OR. I felt great! Tired but good. I walked and walked and walked around my house and up and down my driveway that day and the next day. My dogs thought I was crazy but I never had any probems with gas pains or anything.
  6. Kim.... I have notice a HUGE increase in the amount of food I am eating in one sitting and my snacking at night is getting out of control! I am hoping a fill will close that gap and keep me feeling full much longer. After a fill I have liquids/mushies the rest of the day and take it easy for 24 hours or so then ease back into a normal diet. Your after fill diet sounds BRUTAL!!! Edited to add.... I quit smoking on Jan 1 so I think that might have a lot to do with my incessant snacking. It has been 24 days smoke free!!
  7. ZERO food for a week?? That can't be good for you? Did you do supplements or anything during that time?? Tell me more!
  8. This is a scary process. You are talking about totally changing your life and giving up the "comfort" you have now in your eating habits. I don't regret it for a second, it has been the best thing I have ever done for myself. My only regret is that I didn't know about the band sooner! You are totally normal to be scared and nervous... I sure was!! I personally don't have a problem taking pills whole so that hasn't been an issue for me. As far as food goes, the only thing I have trouble with and avoid is bread.... which is really no biggie... I was a HUGE bread addict! My best advice would be to understand that the band is not a magic bullet... it will not solve all your problems for you and losing the weight will take some effort on your part. Once I started losing some weight I started going to the gym a few times a week. I went from walking on the treadmill for 10 minutes at a time to currently training for a 5k! I have always hated excercise but now that I can do it without feeling like my heart is going to explode I find I enjoy it a lot more and it makes me feel good about myself. Good luck to you and read all that you can here on LBT and ask all the questions you need to. We have all been in your position at one time! Peace.
  9. Linda... sending prayers your way!! Everything happens for a reason... just keep telling yourself that. Kim... I am pretty stalled out right now too. I am going in for a fill next week so I hope that jump starts me again!
  10. I lost about 12 pounds on Dr K's pre-op diet. I am a total carb addict though and it about killed me! In the weeks before I started pre-op but had my surgery date scheduled I must have had about a dozen "last meals". I just had it in my head that I was never going to be able to eat anything I loved ever again so I better gobble it up fast. I gained about 8 pounds between my consult and my pre-op diet. Anyone else have that issue??

Jesse Jackson, while visiting a primary school class, found himself in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asks the Rev. Jackson if he would like to lead the discussion on the word "tragedy." So the illustrious leader asks the class for an example of a "tragedy." One little boy stood up and offered: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a runaway tractor comes along and knocks him dead, that would be a tragedy." "No," says the great Jesse Jackson, "that would be an accident." A little girl raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy." "I'm afraid not," explains the exalted spiritual leader. "That's what we would call a great loss." The room goes silent. No other children volunteer. Rev. Jackson searches the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?" Finally at the back of the room a small boy raises his hand. In a quiet voice he says: "If a plane carrying the Rev. Jackson were struck by a missile and blown to smithereens that would be a tragedy." "Fantastic!" exclaims Jackson, "That's right. And can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?" "Well," says the boy, "because it sure as hell wouldn't be a great loss, and it probably wouldn't be an accident either."
  12. Congrats Machele!! Dr K is great... you will really like him. I called Marilyn today schedule a fill for next week. I have noticed I am eating too much lately and not staying full as long as I would like. I am going in on Tuesday for the fill, it will be the first time I have seen Dr K since November! VABandster... how ya doin' girl??
  13. Mvpo.... are they replacing your port? If so I can tell you it was a super easy recovery for me. Waaaaay easier than the original surgery!! Good luck to you!
  14. Nana! I found you! Sending happy healing thoughts your brothers way.......
  15. Marz.... my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.
  16. Dame... I also do yoga... it feels so good! I waited a few weeks before I was able to do the most basic poses. It probably took me a good month to do anything that involved stretching my abdomen. Good luck with your surgery! :clap2:
  17. I don't think anyone was attacking you. YIKES! :)
  18. I second that!! I know how hard it is though travelbug. After everything you've been through you just want that fat gone for good! Be patient (easier said than done) and good things will come to you!
  19. I try to get in an much as I can. I average about 5 times a week.
  20. It wasn't an issue for me. I lucked out and I wasn't having my TOM then. I have seen other posts about this very subject here on LBT and it seems to be a non-issue for most women. If you are on your TOM they may ask that you wear a pad instead of a tampon but other than that you should be fine!
  21. There is no smoking in any bar or restaurant in CO. This was passed last year and has made dining out much more pleasant! I recommend Wynkoop, Rock Bottom Brewery (16th St Mall) and a host of other places like that. All are family friendly as most of Dever area places are. If you go to Rock Bottom they have an AWESOME french onion Soup that I had when I was on liquids after surgery. Just take the cheese and bread out and don't eat the onions and you'll be fine! If there is specific kind of food you have in mine PM me and I'll see what i can come up with for you!
  22. I also belonged to Curves... for about a month. I got bored with the machines and the women that just went there to gossip. I have since joined a gym and have been at it since last June and LOVE it!!
  23. YAY Sky! I'm sooo happy for you. I remember how it real it finally felt when I got my date booked. I'm so excited for you!
  24. Hey May peeps!! I am a bit discouraged. I haven't lost any weight this week. I keep bouncing around the same few pounds. I had my TOM this week though so maybe that has something to do with it? I started a new workout program and with as hard as I have been working at it I was expecting to lose SOMETHING but nope....nada. I have try outs for the roller dolls next week and I know once I start doing that I will get back on the losing side again with all the work outs they do. But in the meantime.....grrrrrr!! kim.... yay for the Gap outfit!! I am sitting here in my Old Navy jeans and loving every second of it! marz.... get yourself a new outfit girl! You deserve it! Congrats on onederland! Peace.
  25. julestwu.... no, that is what my surgeon charges his self pay patients. My insurance didn't cover any part of my band.
