  1. Well I am now an offical roller girl....LOL. I had my first derby related ER visit last night. At practice last night we were doing fall drills and I went down to do my 3rd double knee fall and my left knee turned out and I heard (and felt) a pop. I got up and iced it, thought I was fine, went to put my skate back on and my knee wouldn't bend to the left at all. I went to the ER, they did an xray and determined that I partially tore my MCL (the ligament that goes on the outside of your knee). Not to worry though! I can try skating again in a week! I am in a horrible knee immobilizer for 5 days though... that sucks! They gave me Vicodin for pain... it makes me sick to my stomach so I am going to call my doc today and see if they can switch me to something else. Fun times! :faint:
  2. Hey LBT friends! I need to pick your creative little brains. I need to come up with an original name for myself for roller derby. There is a master list of registered names so I will be able to check and see if something is already taken. I am kinda a punk rock girl and I want my name to reflect that. I want something that sounds tough and mean but not too butchy... does that make sense?? :heh: Prize to the person who comes up with the best name! :help: Peace.
  3. Welcome to LBT Tina!! Congrats on getting your band next week. I was so excited for my surgery I could hardly stand it. Being banded has turned out to be the best thing I have ever done for myself. Good luck to you and keep us posted! :clap2:
  4. :funnypost:
  5. Congrats sunnysea! Your surgery day will be here before you know it!
  6. YIKES!! Sweetie..... you are not as big as a house which is what one looks like in that kind of stuff! I'm glad my days of buying clothes from Omar the Tentmaker are over.... as are yours! :clap2:
  7. Neosporin isn't good for much I have discovered. Glad you got it all figured out!

  9. Alicia.... that dress is adorable!!! derbygirl... hey! It's always nice to meet another girl interested in derby! What state are you in?
  10. According to my doc and the doc around here, Dr C... there is no hard evidence linking carbonation to erosion.
  11. I have to agree with everyone else.... call your doc!!! I'm not sure if you are male or female but I know around my TOM my band Get's REALLY tight. Hope you feel better!
  12. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/may-bandsters-february-t29250.html A new home for a new month!!!
  13. I'm assuming by your small fill amounts that you have a 4cc band. Personally, it took me 4 fills to get good restriction. I am currently at 2.5cc's and so far so good. I lost 4 pounds in the past week since my last fill. I drink about 80oz of Water a day. I work at a desk in front of a computer all day and I try and make sure I always have a full bottle of water with me at all times. Talk to your doc when you go in for your fill next week and let him (or her!) know your concerns and fears. Meet with the nutritionist (if there is one available) and they can help you with good food choices. :hungry: As far as excercise goes... do what you can for now. You will find yourself building up to longer and longer walks before you know it!
  14. Hi Pickles!!! Welcome to LBT!! :clap2: I too am from CO and Dr K was my surgeon. If I can do anything to help or answer any questions please feel free to ask!
  15. I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble. What kind of band do you have? How much of a fill do you have now? What kinds of things are you eating every day? How much Water are you drinking? Excercise? As far as "will power" goes... once you have proper restriction you really don't have a choice. Eat your hard Proteins first and you will be full and stay full. Hope this helps!
  16. I am doing one of the things on my list right now! At 60 pounds lost I tried out for a roller derby league and made it! I have 2 practices a week and man oh man are they grueling! But..... I can keep up and love every second of it! My other goal is to have a baby and have the energy to keep up!
  17. Roller derby RAWKS!!! I have sooooooooo much fun! The 2 hour practices are pretty grueling... it's non stop action for the whole 2 hours. I must have burned at least 500-600 calories last night easily. I am totally digging it!
  18. Hey Dr K peeps!! Sounds like everyone is doing well! I had another fill last Tuesday... 2.5cc's in my band now. I have lost 4 pounds this week!!
  19. Hey fellow Maysters!! I hope this finds everyone healthy and happy! As I enter month 9 of my banding journey I am amazed at how far I have come. I have done so many things this past few months that I would have NEVER done a year or so ago. The biggest thing is probably roller derby. No way in hell would I have put myself out there like that a year ago! Last night I went through a grueling 2 hour practice that included core strengthening and endurance excercises and drills. I never would I have thought I would be able to keep up... and I did! I was even in the top 4 of the other Baby Dolls (us newbies)! I never knew I could sweat and stink as much as I do when I get in the car after practice. WHEW! I was awesome to skate with the girls that have been doing this for a long time and be told that they were very impressed with me. I was absolutley GLOWING when I left the rink last night. My hubby is just thrilled with the change in me and my giddy excitment when I come home from practice just thrills him to no end. I had another fills last Tuesday.. I now have 2.5cc's in my band. Between that and 2 hard practices I dropped 4 pounds this week! YAY! What about you? What can you do (or are you doing) that you couldn't do before banding??
  20. I have never had any trouble with pills... no matter what size.
  21. Puddin.... I have been following this thread and I just have on word for you.... WOW!! You are a true source of inspiration for me girl! You look amazing and you are finding yourself again.... I am so proud of you!!
  22. I agree about the straw thing Jack... it never made sense to me. I use straws all the time and have never had any trouble with air!
  23. I know with all the research I did... aftercare was stressed as imperative to be successful with the band no matter which band you had.
  24. Yay libra!! Being able to wear knee high leather boots has been one of my fave NSV's so far! I feel so HOT when I wear them!
  25. Another Dr K patient here.... LOVE him!
