Please tell me what getting "foamies" means. This is the first time I've heard this term...sounds like a nightmare [emoji21]

Ohhh, interesting...this is my first iud so I'm hoping it works well for me. I guess I'll find out soon enough!

Thanks for sharing. The doctor wants me to get it however it is not something I want to do. I am really looking for more options in order to balance my hormones.
That was my worry as well. My options were slim so I decided to get the Liletta IUD, it releases hormones. So this is like a trial. I hope you're able to find what works for you! If you don't mind, share your results

If an iud is the birth control that goes in your arm I had it put it and it ended up breaking in my arm. I kept telling my obgyn and he said it was fine. My boss came up to me and said that since I got it in I changed I need to get it taken out or my actions could get me fired. It was bad to many hormones at once made it so I got mad over the stupidest things. I got it out and went back to the calm me.

The IUD is a "intrauterine device" so it gets inserted through your cervix by your obgyn. I have issues with my hormones as it is so I think I'll stay away from the implant [emoji21]
Oh, and just FYI for anyone considering an IUD, it was an incredibly painful experience!

I'm having the RNY because I had a choice, I was told there was a higher success rate and I have gerd. For you I would think having the bypass to start with would eliminate the need for a "trial surgery" and save you the pain and $$...? Just thinking out loud, I don't know your personal situation. Are you wanting to have kids? I heard that most women can get pregnant very soon after surgery

Yes! I have PCOS and my surgery date should be close to April. I'm having the bypass primarily because I was told that the pcos would get better or go away completely. I'm skeptical because I've been dealing with the pain, infertility and everything else that goes with it.

I was on the Nuva ring and it was suggested that I go back to that after surgery. I'll be consulting my OBGYN but the ring worked for me for years and seems like a good choice post bypass.

Help!! I can't seem to find an app that I can log my daily meals and print out monthly for my doctor. I tried myfitnesspal and it's too complicated.
Is there anybody who has to keep track and how are you doing it??

I'm partial to carbs myself. When is your surgey? I have 4 more months.

Have you had the surgery yet? If so, how long ago?
Cathy
I'm 4 months preop if my bariatric program stays on track I'll be having a bypass in March. I'm doing my best to follow all these rules and change eating habits.

I also have a popsicle addiction lol and I love Outshine! I'm so glad I know about the "sorbitol squirts" now so I can avoid this. Sorry you had to learn the hard way thanks for sharing!!

I went into my first appointment wanting VSG but left set on RNY. My surgeon said he personally doesn’t think VSG is a great fit for most people, especially patients who are morbidly obese. He said that the gold standard is the RNY and that his patients tend to do better long term going that route. I also have severe acid reflux and GERD so he said VSG would make that worse (I can’t even imagine it worse than it is now!) but he told me that RNY can most of the time completely take care of it. So it was a no brainer after that that I would just do gastric bypass. After reading of so many people who have had to get revisions from VSG to RNY it helped reinforce that decision too! I hope that helps a little, either way it is great to ask questions and research both to see what you think will be best for your body!
Thank you! I also have reflux, and on occasion the nightmare of GERD. This was a big decision so I'm trying to make it the right one. I appreciate your input

Hello, this is my first post, very new to all this. I'm in the middle of my required bariatric program before having the procedure. If everything goes as planned I'll be having surgery around March...I been prepping for the sleeve but it seems like my doctors are leaning me towards the bypass. Is there anyone out there that has changed their mind about the type of surgey? What made you decide?

Do people treat you different now that you're skinny?

My story is a little different than what I've read. I'm 5'7" 300 lbs having RNY in two months. I've always been heavy and Ive noticed that I get less "interested" looks from men the heavier I get...that being said it hasnt stoped ME from flirting!![emoji16] Im direct and confident (sometimes I gotta fake it) and I can't say I've been ignored or looked down on because of my weight. Or perhaps if someone was rude I just chalked it up to that person being a jerk in general. The thing that drives me insane is people assuming that you have low self-esteem or are lonely (Im single) or unhappy, solely because of the weight. If I hear "you'd be happier if you lost a few pounds!" one more time my eyes will roll right out of my head. Being healthy makes me happy, thank you very much! [emoji14]
