    Need a Buddy

Thanks - I can’t tell you how good it was to read that. Having written this earlier today, tonight I drank a protein soup reasonably quickly - half way through I suddenly felt exhausted, a bit sick. I went to lie down - and was sort of clammy. It settled after 20 minutes or so, and I felt fine. I guess that is like what you describe - and you are right, it is a strong incentive to eat slowly! Thank you so much. x

    Need a Buddy

Hi ChereinAz i too am having trouble working out how to tell if I am full. Can I crash into your conversation and ask you to describe it?

Ok, how long to go down a trouser size?

Answering my own question - 2 weeks post surgery, my snug Levi jeans now can be pulled down without undoing them. Am comfortable I will be happily (as opposed to uncomfortably) in the size down next week, at this rate!

RNY 9 days in - record of post surgery progress

15 days in. Today I hit a bit of a wall - think I might just have overdone it yesterday with supermarket shopping and a walk - only maybe 300m up the road, but UP up! So lots of lying about reading in the sun today, and I feel much better now at 5.30pm Am a little worried about my capacity to eat - without thinking yesterday, I had a huge swig of water - maybe three or four gulps. Remembered, expected it to come back up - but nothing. In fact, nothin I have eaten gives me any trouble. I am at about 2 tblspoons yoghurt, or same with cottage cheese, over about 10 mins. Easy as. No nausea, regurgitation like the band. No feeling in my tum at all. Is that right? (Did he really DO the bypass?!)

    Band to Bypass yesterday

Hiya TX_KB I had my revision 14 December. I also had left side pain, but the whole 3xperience hasn’t been too bad. No nausea from this op (unlike putting the band in) which is the best. Happy 2018 for us - I look forward to us being on the losers bench together!

Does everyone go through this feeling??

I was just the same. Surely I could do it myself (despite a lifetime of evidence)? 13 days post op and Not. One. Single. Regret. Great support crew, right here. xxx to you.

    10 days post op

Hi Lilly I am 13 days post surgery. I don’t think I have been hungry yet, but am pushing myself to get that protein in. I am getting about 40g in a day, gently that is increasing. On my plan I can eat yoghurt, cottage cheese, today I had a small soft egg. My calories are at 400-500 a day on that and one protein drink. I think push yourself for just the 64oz water, and towards the 60g protein, whether you want it or not. If I wake in the night? Few sips of water. First thing in the morning, last thing at night. Dehydration is a bummer...

    Family not supportive

Good on you for looking inside, and holding on to your needs, wants, desires. Families are complex places for us to live! Each member is acting on their own fears, insecurities, thinking - as well as yours too, but it is complicated. My view (I am a psychologist, by the way) is hold on to your dreams, hopes. Search for support amongst friends, people who can put your needs first just this time, not battle their own needs. Focus on your needs, but also just accept your family for who they are - if you can pull that off, you will be happy for it! All the best. Like you I was so much happier at about 170lbs, and can’t wait to be back!

Oh no - I ate my earplug!!

11 days post bypass - and last night in my sleep I ate my bright orange wax earplug! Pretty sure THAT is not in my post-op menu list! I don’t usually wear ear plugs but we are staying in a hotel - the ear plugs clearly bother me, I sometimes take them out and stick them weird places in the night, like in the lampshade, squished inside my bedside reading etc. But eating one! Well, I appear to have chewed it a bit, so fingers crossed my new tummy can figure out what to do - else it is Christmas Hospital Visit for me! Merty Christmas to you all...

Oh no - I ate my earplug!!

In my β€˜firehose’ phase I would have noticed immediately. Now things are more solid, I didn’t deconstruct, but I assume so! The recalled feel of bits of orange wax between my teeth still grosses me out. But at least I chewed!!

RNY 9 days in - record of post surgery progress

12 days in. I flew back north to my home today - so of course I weighed in for the first time. Down 19 lbs since I began pre-op diet, and 14 lbs since surgery. More importantly, my jeans are loose, and my tee shirt has stopped hanging off my belly, instead falling from my bust. Oh yes. Residual fatigue, little pain. No problems eating but then, I haven’t tried anything stupid size/speed wise. I think I am eating faster than I thought I would, but no problem, just trying to slow down and give my new tummy a chance to bed in. Yoghurt. Cottage cheese (with a few drops of chipotle today - fantastic) and protein drinks. 6-7 glasses of water. So far, so darned perfect.

    December 2017 Gastric Bypass!

So I have been in another city for my bypass and post op recovery in a hotel. Flew home today.i know scales aren’t everything, but 12 days out I wanted to know... First weigh in post surgery, 211 lbs. down from 230 when I started 3 Day liquid diet, and 226 at surgery. I got this. So much better than watching myself creep back up to my pre-gastric-band weight of 260 or more, which was my alternate destiny!

    2 days post op

That is fantastic news! Each day (most days!) a bit better, a bit less fatigued! x

    Christmas Menu

11 days out. I had about 1/4 cup of chicken purΓ©ed in gravy. Yum! 20 purΓ©ed peas on the side. And desert - 2/3 teaspoons of crumbly meringue/yoghurt. Couldn’t resist (too hard with everyone eating for hours!) but it has all gone ok.

    2 days post op

Hiya I was band to bypass 16th. The sleepiness will pass soon - I need a nap, but not 4-5 hours any more! Walks, many short ones, will move the gas pain. It is nasty but passes. After that, it feels like every time you breathe you sip! Water, protein shakes, protein soup. But here I am, Day 11, and it is WAY easier already. Even if I can’t have any Christmas food! You’ll get there... xxx

    Need advice on foods!!

I found yoghurt great from day 3. A bit diluted with low fat milk. Are you allowed that?

    First week post op

Thought I was doing ok but I ate my earplug in my sleep last night, so maybe I am pining! 11 days out, I am at 7-8 glasses water and 40-45 G protein, slowly rising each day as I can eat a little more youghurt, mashed cottage cheese. Getting there... but not much energy. A walk around the block wipes me out!
  20. Biddy zz 🏳️🌈

Oh no - I ate my earplug!!

More importantly - do they have protein??. Heehee. Any day now I will make the miraculous 60g protein!

RNY 9 days in - record of post surgery progress

Holy heck!! 21 pounds - fantastic! As for chewing, my surgeon let’s us have the occasional rice cracker after day 7 - chew it to mush and make it a slurry before swallowing. I had one yesterday - to my great joy!

It is going really well. How are you doing?
  23. Biddy zz 🏳️🌈

    Blah

I am 10 days post op and practicing my β€œI can’t eat - just have an upset tummy” talk for everyone at Christmas dinner! Good thing is, if you are feeling a bit β€˜sick’, that explains why you might be crabby too!

Post op day 4-Gastric Sleeve on 12/19/2017

BariatricPal store does a mixed pack of soups, 15g protein each. I find these a real easy way to get my protein in.

    Why no liquor??

One thing my surgeon said - post surgery that wine/alcohol passes through us in a way that is different to others. One glass could make you over the drive limit, or even quite drunk, so take care! xxx for your anniversary!
