    ? for people with Reflux

Mine started a week after surgery. I was on omeprazole before surgery (which i stopped a few days before and after surgery) and my surgeon said to start taking again when I saw him for my 2 week post op. I recently switched to Protonix 1x per day and i'm fine. But OMG if i forget to take them...lord have mercy on me! I get heartburn right away, anything will set it off. I have my 3 month follow up with my surgeon next month and will be def. discussing this with him. I'm terrified of having revision surgery.

    Feeling sick

I'm having the same problem. I'm also 3 weeks post op and i'm nauseous every day, all day. I cant stand taking my vitamins, I usually throw them up soon after. I was prescribed reglan which has helped a little with vomiting but not with nausea. Good luck!

    June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!

Good luck hunn! I was really nervous months/weeks/days leading up to my surgery but surprisingly the day of the actual procedure I was so calm and ready. The whole thing will be over before you know it.

    Just got approved!!

Update: I was finally sleeved this Monday and boy was I in for a rude awakening. Literally. I woke up after surgery in soooo much pain! Both from the abdomen area and gas pains. Morphine and water made me very nauseous but I feel better now. I got home yesterday and I'm doing ok. Still sore and gas pains aren't too too bad. I haven't been able to burp or fart like others. anyone else have that problem? Also my hospital didn't let me to take gasX while I was there.

Any June 2018 Sleevers in Here?!

Howdy everyone! Got sleeved this Monday (6/18). My abdomen is super sore and hurts when I get up, cough, laugh, etc. Monday and Tuesday I was very nauseous but it’s gotten a little better. I’m currently working on sipping my water. It’s harder than I thought to take small sips instead of big gulps!

    Stocking up

My surgery (VSG) is 6/18 and luckily I only have to do a liquid diet for 2 days instead of 2 weeks. So what should i stock up on for my post op period? Oh, and what about hospital bag essentials? Recommendations needed for all of the goodies; vitamins, containers, protein drinks/powders, recipes, and TV/Netflix shows while we're at it haha..

Same here! I'm so so glad I dont have to do a 2 week liquid diet, only 2 days. I'm doing my pre-ops this coming week and then surgery! ahhhhhh!!!! Auntie Anxiety should be knocking on my door anytime now. What vitamins and drinks did you stock up on? I need to do that too.

    New Booty....any advice

I agree with Kat you are gorgeous! Congratulations on your surgery date next week! Wishing you a speedy recovery! Let us know how you're doing with your liquid diet and what helped you. My surgery is on 6/18.
  14. Hey everyone, How much time did you take off from work? Did you feel like you were ready to go back before your scheduled return date? Seeking answers for either VSG or RNY. xoxo
  15. Hi everyone, If everything goes well with my insurance, I will have surgery on 6/18/18! Now that I have a date, I feel like the pre-op process is drraaaaaggiiiiiiinnnngg. For those of you who are post-op, what do you wish you knew before surgery that would've made life easier? I feel like now in days people are more informed thanks to these kind of forums and support groups but you can never be too informed.

Advice you wish knew before surgery

That's an awesome idea! I will definitely pack some air freshener! I have a super low pain tolerance and i'm afraid of the pain. I dont know how people go back to work sooner than 2 weeks! That was actually my next question/topic i was going to post haha.
  17. It definetely is! It will be here before we know it though!

Advice you wish knew before surgery

Oh wow! I'm sorry you had a rough recovery. After the initial 3 days did your bowls pass gas on their own or were you prescribed something? How long was it before you began feeling energized?

Hahaha your response made me LOL!

Advice you wish knew before surgery

Oh geez. I'm not looking forward to the pre-op liquid diet. I get awfully hangry when i dont eat and get horrible migraines, luckily we dont have to completely starve. And I'm also glad my surgeon only requires a 2 day liquid diet. The water part is extremely hard! I've been practicing sipping and not drinking with meals as recommended by my nutritionist. Thank you for your response

    Newbie :) surgery date 5/10/18

Yeah I agree. Surgeries now in days are a lot safer than they were 20 years ago thanks to technology/ research. I would definitely be more apprehensive if they had to cut me open but thankfully a big majority of surgeries are now done laparoscopic. Excited about your surgery date!

  23. I got a date as well. Mine is for June since that's when I'll have my final nutritionists visit and my surgery coordinator thinks I can do all the pre-op stuff soon after that. Now that I have a date, this process seems extra long! I want it to happen already lol. When is your date?
  24. Good luck! Wishing you a speedy recovery! Keep us posted!

    Newbie :) surgery date 5/10/18

Hi there, I have a "maybe" date for 6/18, depending on insurance but it's close to yours. We can be buddies! I haven't told many people about my decision either but like yours, my mom is also afraid for me. She's focusing on the risks of surgery while I try to convince on the risk of my weight. Is your health insurance covering the surgery? If so, how was their process? Fif you have to see a nutritionist for 6 months?
