    Breakfast cereal

Can I ask why you made your original post if you didn't want opposing opinions? This is a forum... everything you post is up for discussion. There is nothing wrong with Raisin Bran for you, but there is something wrong with it for about 80% of the people on this form. Just keep that in mind. Your program rules are very very lenient. I'm going to say the same thing. There are way better breakfast items that will provide higher protein values, and a lot less sugar. My program also recommends to keep sugar under 7 grams per meal.

And one more thing! Why would you want to do those things 1 month post op... if you are committed to the process?

You are correct, some programs are way more thorough than others. I met with one nutritionist, one time... and it wasn't even weight loss surgery specific things we covered. It was mainly about nutrition basics. Then I had a group class that went into more specifics, but in no way could it or did it cover everything. But that's when I stepped up to the plate and did as much research as humanly possible, including reading threads on this forum. I was never going to allow my program nor my NUT to tell me everything I needed to know. I probably, no... definitely, know more than my NUT knows about nutrition for bariatric patients. I felt like she was there to fulfill a requirement, but didn't know the specifics about bariatric surgery or nutrition related to that. Some people are looking for validation to break the rules, and others truly don't know the rules. But I don't think its safe to blame just the doctor for that. I think we should know things like... not to drink alcohol or eat bread at 1 month post op. Those things are common sense. And those are what get under my skin.

DING DING DING. If only I had a hammer and nail emoji..... you are exactly right.
  6. Every.Day.Of.My.Life. I think I'll eventually come desensitized to it and when there actually is a bug... I won't know it.

    yup, I am.
  8. mine too! in fact, I frequently think there is a bug on my body... when its actually a long hair or three.

    I guess I’m regretting a little...

I have to agree. I don't know if its these doctors are giving completely unrealistic expectations, or the OPs who think that its purely magic and there isn't an ounce of effort or time involved. Either way. I'd say all of your advice is spot on. I have nothing better to say.

    FOOD RESTRICTIONS

Honestly, if I were you... I would cut out the bread and potatoes. They are notoriously slider foods and this may be why you aren't feeling restriction and can eat more. I would give it a week long test phase and see if you eat less with just protein and non starchy veggies. We all tend to "normalize" our diets over time the further out we become, but sometimes we have to get back to the roots. Not to mention, you are only 3 months post op, and those foods are a slippery slope, especially at the amounts you are eating. I'm 8 months post op and can't even eat 2 pieces of bread, let alone with protein.

Preach. I'm with you. I really want to help, and get help, but its hard to sift through those kinds of threads.
  12. I can also relate to the anxiety of getting rid of clothes. In fact, for the longest time I didn't want to even buy smaller clothes because it made me feel self conscious to wear clothes that actually fit. Eventually, I went through and sold everything and donated the rest. I felt so much better and I felt a lot of relief. It felt it was one page out of this chapter finished. I was so proud of myself, just like when I make goal on the scale. It was better than the scale. I guess, I have made this a lifestyle change, vs. a diet. Diets are temporary and I don't see this as a temporary change. I will never allow myself to slip back into my old habits, much less gain enough weight to go back to my former size. My former t-shirts, I keep for night gowns. Every night when I get into bed, I remind myself, that this is where I was, this is where I am now.

    Body Temperature Increase

Yes its bizarre what happens to us, I do get a runny nose.
  16. Anyone experience an elevation in body temperature, or even just the feeling of elevated temperature after eating? Before someone says it, it is not associated with dumping. I get this almost every time I eat, anything. It doesn't come with discomfort or any other symptom, besides temporarily feeling warm, or warmer.
  17. 8 months post op. Hitting ONEderland is a dream come true. Thank you to everyone for being so supportive throughout this journey. This community has truly been one of the biggest drivers of positivity and my commitment to the process. On to the next goal!

Aldi has squatty potties for $9.99

Oh, ok! I didn't realize it can be stored under the toilet. I'm going to check it out. Thanks for the tip @SleeveinIL
  22. I don't mind heights, hence the zip-lining and the roller coasters... but something about free falling out of a plane... YIKES. I wouldn't even mind parasailing, but probably to do with the fact that there is water below.

Aldi has squatty potties for $9.99

Might have to make me a trip to Aldi.... Question though @Matt Z do you keep your Squatty Potty out in the bathroom all the time? Or just when its time to do the business... I just wonder if it gets in the way?
