    Am I eating too much?

Dinner is the most calories I eat a day. I eat about 3-4 meals a day with my dinner being the most calories. Usually my breakfast consist of one egg and fruit or just a fruit salad. Lunch is usually vegetables w/hummus or a protein shake/bar. Dinner being the most calories with it being around 180-230 calories. All are about the same amount of food quantity wise

    Favorite workouts!

I was told one week post op to do cardio like cycling and Zumba
  3. Sleeved October 17th 2017. Had no complications during surgery or post op. Healthy (no previous health problems) down 36 pounds. I know cigarettes are bad I don’t need people telling me and I’m not posting this for people to jump on me I’m honestly looking for advice. I smoked cigarettes for about 3 months before surgery and quit two weeks before. I wasn’t severely addicted, it was very easy for me to quit. Id smoke one cigarette every day, or one every other day. I haven’t smoked since October 1st and I just smoked today and I feel like everyone freaks out about this but I don’t see it as a big deal especially since one pack of cigarettes last me 3 weeks to a month. I know it can affect the healing process but everyone deals with stress, anxiety and depression differently I’m sure all smokers who have quit know the feeling of just craving a cigarette when you’re having a bad day. Anyone out here have experience with smoking post op?

    Cigarettes post op

Thank you for understanding and being kind with your response. I appreciate this response! Like I said I didn’t post this for people to jump on me, i was hoping some other people could relate to me. I had a binge eating disorder before my surgery and this could be a habit I’m switching over to. Especially with mental illness’ like depression and anxiety it’s not as easy for people to just stop. I posted this to get info from others who experienced the same thing or have advice on the situation. I agree I was justifying my behavior with a “it could be worst” mindset but I’m willing to change and get better. Thank you again for being kind with your response
  5. I’m one month post-op on my sleeve. My dietitian and nutritionist said that after weight loss surgery everything in your body changes in all ways, shapes and forms! I’ve notice with me that I can’t have dairy anymore (can hold it down but I feel crappy after), my body has a weird reaction to coffee, and weirdest thing that I found out was common is when I eat too fast or too much my nose starts running. So just curious, What are some weird body habits you have now post-op?
  6. I’m one month post-op and I don’t need to wear my binder anymore for my incisions however I like wearing it to the gym and for work (I have a very physical job, up and down ladders, lifting and bending down). I like the support it gives me. Anyone else do this?
  7. I’m five weeks post op from my gastric sleeve. Starting weight pre-op: 296 Weight on the day of surgery: 280 Current weight: 265 For awhile I wasn’t getting my protein in but now that I can eat food again I’ve been eating protein bars to meet my requirements (I make sure I get high protein, low calorie, no added sugar and low carb) So currently I’m down 31 pounds. The past 2 weeks I’ve fluctuating up and down 3 pound (also believe that could have been from my period) it’s just alittle discouraging not losing weight. I know I’m still fresh and new and that I just need to have patience. I’m hoping now that I’m getting all my water and protein in I could have longer workouts at the gym (instead of just 30-45 minutes). I feel like maybe I’m just obsessing about losing weight alittle too much. Im 19 and I’ve been big all my life so this kind of gets me down especially since I was losing weight so quick before

    Stopped losing weight

I eat anywhere from 400-600 a day then I burn off about 250-300 at the gym. On gym days I allow myself to eat alittle more
  9. My NUT gave me some recipes to make homemade protein bars and I’m looking for some more recipes or store bought ones. Any recommendations?
  10. I’m one month post op! The last week or two I haven’t been getting much protein down due to not being able to hold diary or creamy based protein drink and it’s kicking me in the butt now so I’m back on track and focused for success! I’ve tried the isopure protein juices, no good yuck. I couldn’t stomach it. I know I don’t NEED to like it but I wanna atleast drink something that doesn’t make me dry heave lol. I bought the Isopure unflavored protein! I’ve added it to my fruit and veggie smoothies so far, I’ve heard people just mix it in with their water or water + crystal light. What are some of your favorite things to put it in to meet your protein requirements?
  11. That’s awesome to hear! You’re doing great! It gets alittle better everyday. I had strips on my incisions that came off in a week and I was told not to pull them no matter how close they are to falling off and to get a cup of water and antibacterial soap and just run it over your belly a few times then rinse and pat dry.
  12. I couldn’t have said it better! Thank you very much!
  13. I had my sleeve done laparoscopically. I thought everyone got one. It helped a lot for me personally
  14. I was drinking decaf before but now I drink half decaf/half regular. I didn’t even think about it I probably shouldn’t have regular coffee. Today is the first time I’m having it in months
  15. I was provided with one at the hospital. The one the hospital gives you is always kind of bulky I know some people use waist trainers because they’re think but those are usually EXTREMELY tight and not recommended to wear for long periods of time
  16. YES!!!! I’ve been doing the same and it’s so good! That and folding my legs up on a chair. Weird little things like that keep me going
  17. Are you on medication for pain and/or nausea?
  18. Sometimes I get pain but not pinching or pulling I just get sore
  19. I don’t remember how long you’re supposed to keep it on for I think I wore mine for two weeks just to be safe so it’s not too late to get one. Call your surgeons office and ask them for info
  20. Oh yikes I’ve never heard of someone not being sent home with a binder. It is an undergarment (usually Velcro to adjust) for compression and it’s also protects the incision and makes it so you don’t put strain on your stomach makes it alittle tougher to bend down. It looks like this!
  21. I’m 26 days post op and am on soft foods right now but it seems that anytime I eat or try to reintroduce something to my body I throw up. Two nights ago I had some mashed sweet potatoes and I got a few spoons in then started throwing up. Then today I had a cup of broccoli cheddar soup (which I’ve had recently no problem) but I’m today I immediately threw up after getting half of the cup down in about 35-40 minutes. Maybe I’m eating too fast or eating too much? Im freaking myself out and think maybe I should go to the hospital but everyone’s told me if I was gonna have a leak I would have had it by now and the likelihood of me having a leak now is low.

    Throwing up after eating.

That’s so weird that you said that cause I’ve been having a runny nose when I get nauseous! I thought I was just getting sick
  23. I had my sleeve done on October 17th. I’m one of the young sleevers, I️ turned 19 this year and have been dreaming about this surgery forever and I’m very happy and grateful that I️ was blessed to be able to get it done and I’m down 30 pounds since October 3rd! I’ve had a lot of anxiety and severe depression since I was about 15/16 years old and am still medicated for it today. Most days I have it under control and I’m stable (those with depression or anxiety can relate just people you’re on medicine doesn’t mean everyday is perfect) . I like to go out and have fun so being post-op I’m not used to staying home because I just don’t feel good. I feel like just normal post-op nausea, gas and all that jazz along with post-op blues and depression are eating me up recently. I feel like I’m having major regrets because I just never feel good physically or mentally. I’m a full time student and I work, I’m trying to see if going back to therapy would help. But also since I was really young I’ve always used food as a coping mechanism and that turned into binge eating problems. I’m thinking maybe it could be that and just changing my relationship with food.

    Regretting my surgery.

Another mini update, now that I’m on pureeds I feel a lot better and with the fuel I’m getting from food it’s easier for me to get up and get out of the house to go hit the gym. And with this energy I’m finding joy in things i used to do! I’m going to a concert tomorrow with my best friend and I’m starting to paint and draw again
  25. I’m currently on my puréed stage of my post-op diet. I’m enjoying hummus and mushed avocado along with unsweetened apple sauce. I was told to give baby food a try for more nutrients and flavors. So far I’ve bought (have not tried yet) apple and oats baby rice (apple sauce consistency) and those squeeze bags of fruits and vegetables mix. Not really looking for anything savory but something yummy. What are some good recommendations?
