    Stomach Flu

Has anyone had the stomach flu? This is the first time I have truly thrown up. I had things go down and come right back up, but never the deep down heaving type of vomiting. I hate to vomit to begin with. Now it feels like a cat trying to get up a hairball! It feels like it is literally turning my stomach inside out. It has calmed, but I cant do anything but watered down sf propel. Is it always going to be like and feel like this? I was sleeved 10/17/17. No vitamins, no meds, nothing. Tomato soup?

Watch the sugar content. Even Natural sugars. My very first time with dumping syndrome was because of tomato basil soup. Now I have to water it down ☹️ i love tomato soup SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 223 (1/14/18) RGW 199 GW 175

    Surgery improve PCOS?

It may not completely take it away, just like some people get hungry and some do not. It will help with pcos, that is for sure, as insulin resistance is a huge issue. But losing weight alone can do that too. I went to an endocrinologist before surgery and he said all of my levels looked great! My pcos was dormant at that stage (I lost 90 lbs on my own, before hand.) my cousin lost 30 lbs on her own and then got pregnant. It definitely will help!

    Recommendations for low-fat creamy soups

I used the Progresso Light soups. If you do the new england clam chowder, strain before and after (the little bits of clams were nasty) watch sugar more than fat. Even if natural sugar. The tomato basil (my favorite) gave me dumping syndrome. Some may not have the symtoms! Gl

    Stomach Flu

Thank you all. Last night I had no choice but to call my surgeon. I told him there was no way I could sit in the ER for hours. I see him Wednesday, so he prescribed zofran. A little nauseas, but I am able to keep meds down. I just havent tried the calcium. Probably tomorrow. My surgeon is awesome and I was so glad he was the dr on call! Thank you! Be careful guys, its nasty!

so nervous- please help ease my nerves!

Surprisingly I was not nervous at all. I am guessing because it was my first elected surgery. All my others, I didnt have a choice. I figured if I could live through having 2 cancer scares in 6 months (thyroidectomy and breast biopsy) I could make it through this. Also went through the 2 egds because my doctor did the first one and there was an indent in the top of my stomach. So I was sent to a specialist and they redid and said my spleen must have been swollen at some point, but that it was fine, because it was in the area they were removing. I woke up and was taken to a room. That night I visited with family and was walking the halls. Day 2, was not so peachy. I was diabetic and 10 days before the surgery, I stopped taking my meds and I have not had to go back on them 3 months out. They woke me every 4 hours for glucose testing. It was dipping as low as 54. Then they would give me dextrose and test again in 20 min. 5 different times in 18 hours. When I was to start my fluids, I got very nauseous. They were not going down well. They had stopped my iv pain med and did not tell me. They tried giving me pills, but I refused because of nausea. 4 hours later a friend who had this procedure 4 years ago came up to see me. I was curled in a ball on the bed in so much pain. What did I do? Why did I do it? Well, she kicked ass once she heard I wasnt taking oral meds. She asked the nurse about a pain killer and was told I refused all oral meds. I couldnt pee, so they also put in a catheter at this point. She said go out and call her doctor now. (She is also a pca, that helped too!) he reinstated my med by iv, they got me a new bed, which little did I know with having neck issues the new beds would not be comfortable at all for me. Within 20 minutes I was walking the halls, like the night before. The following morning they took out the cath and once I was able to take meds (the crystal light was also making me nauseas) my friend came up and got me and took me home, and the worst was my sense of taste and smell. Now the worst thing is waiting 30 minutes after eating to drink (I have paid for it). My taste and smell have gotten better. And I do not regret it at all! Just remember to know what kind of meds you are refusing. I never realized how high my tolerance for pain was! After being home I never took a pain med. I actually had people who were willing to come in and take care of me. I really didnt need anyone. Just couldnt lift or do a lot of bending! Otherwise I was good! Be vigilant in your care! Good luck, I have gone through worse! It will be fine in the end! SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 223 (1/14/18) RGW 199 GW 175

    Calcium

So, I have no more chewable calcium citrate after tomorrow, and have no money. I totally miscounted and thought I had enough until the beginning of the month. Can I take non chewable? They are not coated, plus I have to half them because of their size. (Swallowing issues from prior thyroid surgery) will these be ok to use for the next 2 weeks? I am afraid to call the nutritionist and ask. Anyone know? I just dont want to have to take them and they dont do anything! SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 223 (1/14/18) RGW 199 GW 175

    Stomach Flu

Thank you. I did put in a call to the office and if I cant keep fluid down I need to go to the er. I have to be careful because this soon out it is easy to get an ulcer from vomiting, considering my reflux issues. They would give me iv zofran if I go to the er. Thank you! I hope it passes quickly! Calcium

Thank you! My cousin went and bought me a bottle. My surgeon said the regular are fine, but try to get uncoated. He said just to keep an eye on my acid reflux. Thank you all! This will save me alot of money! SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 223 (1/14/18) RGW 199 GW 175

Thank you! I have been getting the chewable ones. Since I had my thyroid out (11/2016) I have had a hard time. I had surgery a few weeks ago and havent had a problem since. I will crush them to be sure!

Thank you for being so upfront and blunt. Thankfully I have only a few haters in my life, but I have tons more cheerleaders than haters! Looks like you have a new follower! Protein shake and liquids schedule

I agree about the hour after and before. Mine is 10 min before, 30 min after. Some foods I do have to wait an hour, but that is because my body told me. If I eat bread (even 1/2 of a ww sandwich thin) or anything that can absorb liquid, I have to wait an hour. I would talk to the dr about the time restrictions. Explain you are having a hard time getting your liquid in because of the waiting period. The waiting is the worst for me! I have ALWAYS had a drink with my meals! I literally have to put my drink in another room or the fridge until my timer goes off!

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

I agree. It took 1 pic of myself with 4 other friends for my cousins Birthday November 2015! I never looked that big in the mirror. I was at 350 at that point. Wow! Noone believed I weighed that, but I did! The difference in 2 years? Wow! My neighbor who lives right across the street walked past me at a birthday party on Sunday and didnt recognize me at first, until she heard me talking! I am getting compliments, and since I rarely got them, I dont know how to react to them! In case you can not tell, i am the one in purple closest to the camera. Coping with MENtal issues...

Thank you Kakat! I am very fortunate that I have a wonderful group of very unbelievably supportive family, friends and church members. My biggest cheerleaders, my helpers, and the love and support of all of them! I would have never been able to do this journey alone! Plus I have 2 people in my life that have done this. One had the bypass, and the other had the sleeve. the information, the love and support and their willingness to tell me their experiences. They are all a true blessing to me!

    Coping with MENtal issues...

I did not write that to start trouble. I was simply telling the op what steps I have taken to better my life. I did not say she had to follow in my footsteps, or pressuring her about religion or lack of it. Not everyone is a believer, and that is fine. I want the bickering to stop. There is no reason for it and it is what it is. OP I see someone has suggested counseling/therapy. I do also. For me it is a different set of eyes looking at a situation. A person that is neutral. A way to vent, to cry, whatever emotions and troubles arise and how they make you feel. It has been a tool for me. SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 224 (1/3/18) RGW 199 GW 175
