  1. I had surgery under UHC choice plus and I'm not sure about the 5 years of records but my BMI was 42 and I was approved fairly quickly! Don't forget the holidays can cause them to focus on authorizations that are "rushed" as they might be short staffed! You can call and check the status and see if they will tell you when it was received or what's going on! From my understanding since my BMI was over 40 they approved it.

  2. This has seriously been the best thing I have ever done! I am officially 6 months post-op and have only 10 more lbs to go! I started at 296 lbs at my heaviest and now am down to 185lbs! So excited! I don't hide from pictures anymore!! [emoji7]IMG_1594.thumb.JPG.dc8d466a54809437b4caadbf0408a6c9.JPG

Omg girl you look amazing!! You are built so much like I am and close starting weight! I started at 298 and currently 281 having surgery in 8 days!! Inspiration for sure!! I’m 5’5 and my doctor gave me a goal of no less than 175 because of how I carry my weight I guess!! You look soooooo good!

  3. Thought I would add on to this post. I have UHC and I did not have to do an EKG or an ultrasound. I also didn't have to keep records of my food or exercise.
I did have to do 6 months worth of supervised dieting. I had to have a psych evaluation. I did have to do a endoscopy. My final appointment with my surgeon was to answer final questions. I was told approval/denial would be sent within 7-10 business days from UHC. It took them exactly 9 business days for an approval.
I did NOT have to lose a specific amount of weight beforehand and actually gained from my first appointment 6 months ago and still received an approval.
I'm located in Texas and could be different depending on which plan you have UHC. It's been a painless process though. Surgery is scheduled for June 12, 2017.

I also have UHC and I’m in Texas!! My paperwork was sent off this morning for prior authorization! I’m in Houston and having surgery with TLC surgeons!! I’m so glad I found your post! It says they can take 15 days to approve or deny!! I’m hoping I will hear something next week sometime!!

  4. I am in Houston and I switched to United Healthcare Star Medicaid plan because it is covered and TLC surgery was accepting that insurance! I have finished the 6 months of weight management classes and my authorization was sent for approval this morning! Hoping to get a call soon!! Hope you figured it all out by now!
