  1. I was on omeprazole 2x a day for years and I had Barrett's esophagus, then it suddenly stopped working so I was started on Protonix and it got rid of my Barrett's pre-OP. I still take it once a day until my next endoscopy. It was the best thing to go from pre cancerous to no signs of it and I've had acid reflux since I was a baby. Protonix gets my vote.

  2. They did this to me pre-op. They explained it would help me need less pain meds post-op. It was awful. They were using this ultrasound machine on my left side from just below my armpit area pushing down on my ribs and then lower down near my hip pushing down so they could see where the needle was going in. They said they gave me some medicine to make me feel comfortable but it didn't work. Then I had to roll over so they could repeat it on the right side. So four injections total. The surgeon came to my room the next day to see how much pain medication I had been given to see if the nerve block had made any difference. Apparently this was something new they were trying with baratric patients here. She didn't see a difference. Lucky me.

  3. I had reached my highest weight ever after my grandmother passed away in 2013. I was 330 lbs at 5'3". I didn't even realize it until I went for my annual gyn exam in the summer of 2015. (Before that, I was maintaining at 280.) When my Doctor very bluntly told me since I just lost my job it would be the perfect time to have gastric bypass. I was shocked and hurt. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Nevermind the fact you can't collect unemployment if you're unable to work like due to major surgery! So cut to 2016, I've been suffering from low back pain since my early 20's but now it's gotten so bad I have to use the scooter at Walmart to go shopping or my back will seize up and my left leg and foot will go numb with pain. I rely on my mom to help me shop too. I'm so tired of being stared at and laughed at. Enough is enough, I talked to my PCP in December and he was very supportive. I went to Dr. Giovanni's seminar and made an appointment on April 27, 2017. I weighed 293 lbs. I was turning 40 on August 6th and on September 19th I had gastric bypass! I weighed 255 that morning. It has not been easy, trying to get in my Protein and fluids is so much harder than I thought it would be. But I'm off my blood pressure medicine and I'm losing weight so quickly. Tomorrow it will be 4 weeks since my surgery and I'm down to 234 lbs.
