    Esophageal Manometry

Well I had my Esophageal Manometry done. Wow, the upper GI with Barium is easier. After my upper GI they noticed slowed swallowing so they did this other thing just to check it out. They put the gel up my nostril and I had to sniff it in, for numbing, then they put the tube up my nose and down my throat. It was awful. The gagging was hard to control at first. It was a long 20 minutes. But now it's over.
  2. Sorry to hear about the insurance issues. Wouldn't you love to tell your doctor's office they'll get their money when they can get the fill right without making you look like a pin cushion. I guess this (the forum) is where you can say the things you would like to say...but can't. Good luck! Prayers are with you.
  3. No, I didn't think about that. How much does that help?

I just got a call that I have to have an Esophagol Menometry because the doctor doing my upper GI last week noticed slow swallowing. I have it tomorrow, and my surgery is Apr 30th. I also have a hiatal hernia and some reflux. I'm a little nervous and hope everything is okay. Have any of you had a problem with this?
  5. :glare: I'm in my first of 2 weeks for the Pre surgery Liquid Diet. I starve easily too. I'm allowed a mid-morning snack of cottage cheese or something like that, but it barely carries me over. I can also have a mid-afternoon snack, and a light dinner of vegies and 4oz of protein; so by evening I'm okay. My surgery is the 30th and I have to confess, I've had a bad day so far. I've eaten way too much today and it's only 4pm. I've got to get back on track. I'll just have my protein drink tonight instead of dinner. I really like the Slim Fast Low Carb, in the blue and white can. Really good.

    Esophageal Manometry

I'm curious about this too. I had my Pre-Op's that included the upper GI with Barium stuff (YUCK). My surgery is the 30th of April, and they called me yesterday and scheduled me for a Manometry because the doctor noticed 'slow swallowing'. I also have a hiatal hernia and some reflux. I worried now there may be a problem.
  7. Thanks for your reply and your support. I know I'll get through this. Question though, can we have blended soups BEFORE the surgery? And has anyone heard of the brand Zoic ProteinDrink? It's 1g fat, 5 g Carb and 21 g protein, and I wondered if it was any good.
  8. I'm starting on my pre surgery liquid diet tomorrow. I want to eat everything in sight today. I wouldn't think a salad would be cheating. We're supposed to do 2 liquid meals and a light supper of regular food-at least this is what I was told. In a way I'm glad we're getting started on this liquid thing before hand. This way I can adjust to how it will be afterwards. So how's it going now?

Hello all, had a question. I'm needing some ideas for my pre surgery diet. I'm looking at the protein drinks, and bought some fat free yogurt and small 2% cottage cheese servings for snacks. I start this tomorrow and I'm trying to get a handle on everything. Thanks!:confused2:

Proverbs 23: 1-3 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what [is] before thee: And put a knife to thy throat, if thou [be] a man given to appetite. Be not desirous of his dainties: for they [are] deceitful meat. I love this verse too!! and....... "I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME" Phil 4:13 Absolutely !! I'm so excited to find a Christian forum. I live in Franklin Indiana, and my surgery date is April 30th. Monday I start my pre-op liquid diet to prepare. Christian support is so important to me. The first support meeting I went to was so uplifting. I walked in and there was an aquaintance from church that I didn't know was having this procedure done. She's doing so well now, and it's wonderful making new friends. I'm feeling so blessed, and it will be great to get to know y'all.
