  1. I only wouldn’t recommend because everything isn’t for everybody.

Glad to here your taking down liquids and soft stuff well. I for one don’t think you should be too concerned that you’re not feeling full especially when your taking such small sips. If you feel it’s a problem i would contact the doc. But how about that GAS!???? ...i thought i was gonna die [emoji23]

I actually don't think I had that much trouble with gas. I had some bad pain in my chest and shoulder the first night that I think must have been gas though. They didn't ever make me get up and walk. I thought that was very important but they didn't seem that concerned with that.

  2. For my November buddies .. hope ya keep recovering well and fast!

FL*Girl you said something about the tubes ... how does that get in between ?... like I had my tubes cut would that be a problem ? Also sorry to hear about your pain [emoji1374] let’s hope tomorrow is betta!

I have no idea? Just that there were adhesions from that surgery so long ago and that he removed them. I don't know what causes adhesions or if they always occur? And thanks, I hope tomorrow is much better too!

  3. Hi guys [emoji1480]! Just 4 days out and I’m actually feeling okay (TODAY). I pray for those who are not having a successful recovery and that things start to get better. [emoji1488]

    UPDATE:

Honestly, the past few days I was feeling like crap! I was nauseated and dizzy but because Ive had nothing but Clear Liquids in my system nothing was coming up, AND THE GAS...has been constant! The gas has been the worse thing to deal with during these past few days. But I kept drinking my liquids and walking around, which seemed to help a little. Since, I have a allergy to codeine I couldn’t take Tylenol 3, which is generally the standard, but they gave me Percocet.

Finally, this morning I couldn’t take it anymore so decided to have some oatmeal (which I️ do not suggest), i had two spoonfuls and immediately started feeling like a new person! I stop feeling nauseated, light headed and dizzy. I’m back up and walking around; I️ even went for a walk outside today! I️m so glad it worked because it had gotten so bad yesterday that I️ was in bed all day sick as a dog. So, after the oatmeal incident this morning my husband and I both agree that the Percocet is just too much to handle on an empty stomach and I’ve decided to start the week 2 diet early, just so i can tolerate the meds. And So far so good [emoji4][emoji1474]

Wow, so glad that helped! Why wouldn't you recommend it if it worked so well for you? Lol. I am 2 days post op and haven't had ANY nausea except when I was in recovery. However, I have been in soo much pain! Like all over, like I've been hit by a truck and any time I go to move, it really hurts. It does get better, once I am moving around but still!! I wasn't expecting this. I think today is a tiny bit better than yesterday. I'm really hoping tomorrow will be noticeably better! I have 6 incisions and apparently he worked on me for 2 extra hours, removing adhesions from when I had my tubes tied 17 years ago after giving birth. Maybe that's why so much pain?? But on a positive note, I have no problem keeping things down at all, I can drink Water, Protein Shake. I can slurp applesauce and pudding. I don't gulp or anything, I sip and take things slow but I don't have pain with it or any type of nausea. Or get any type of full, I gotta stop feeling. I don't remember reading that anywhere so I'm thinking is this normal?? Ay yi yi! [emoji33] Lol

  4. So day 4 post op. Feeling a little better each day. Just got released from hospital yesterday. Now just trying to drink, drink, drink.

Hey, why did you have to stay in the hospital so long? I am day 2 post op, came home yesterday evening. The doctor was planning on keeping me another night because he reviewed my swallow test scans and said my small bowel or something looked stunned so they wanted to make sure I'd be able to take down liquids but I told him I already was, with no trouble. So he said if I felt up to it, I could go ahead and go home. I just knew I would sleep better and just be more comfortable in my own home. It's been rough though. I honestly didn't expect to hurt so much. All over!! And to hurt with any movement. [emoji20]

  5. [mention=320965]Luisajfc[/mention] I'm so sorry you still haven't heard!!!! ((hugs)) Call tomorrow!!! Do not wait!!!
I had a TERRIBLE doc visit. OMG!!!! I now wish I had called last week!!! The front office spaced it and didn't submit me to insurance! I was crushed. There were tears, terse words with the assistant, STRESSSSSSSS, clinic managers. Holy cow. I can say the surgeon and clinic manager were solid gold through it. But I left an emotional mess. At first I thought I was gonna have to wait the 6-8 weeks for insurance approval! But the clinic manager told me they are trying to rush it through insurance approval so we will hopefully hear back on Monday. I have a tentative "goal" date anywhere from 11.28.17-12.05.17. Saying prayers.
In the end, they were super duper and the front office and I made up, but I was a complete and utter wreck. I feel so drained. Massive headache. Have been teary all day and just feel rough and pretty sad that it had to be that way. (All because I went to an RD from the surgeon that was out of our hospital group. So the RD records weren't in the computer where they were supposed to be. They were waiting in emails. So I lost 18days waiting patiently.
*heavy sigh* I really HATE dramamama stuff!

OMG how horrible!!! I'm so sorry that all happened! That's crazy! But so glad you finally have a rough date for surgery! You'll know for sure sometime this next week! Yay! [emoji106] [emoji4]

  6. I hear that! I'm a woman married to a woman, too.

I wish I had more concrete wisdom to offer, but my situation isn't exactly like yours. I'm having Lap-Band-to-gastric bypass revision surgery sometime in 4-6 weeks and my wife isn't -- because she is not overweight. However, I've become aware of relationship problems that can arise when one spouse has a drastic lifestyle change and the other does not, and that's something my wife and I have discussed at length. My marriage is wonderful and extremely valuable to me.

Re: smoking and surgery: my surgeon does not perform surgery on smokers, but I was one until just a few months ago. A 2- or 10-year period of cessation isn't universal, then, clearly. Is there another surgeon your wife could consult, if still interested in pursuing surgery?

If it indeed happens, though, that you have surgery and she does not, you are wise to think now about what the future might look like and proactive in talking to the program psychologist about it. None of these things are beyond your (plural "your") control, but you probably will need to do some hard work and thinking. What will it be like if there's envy of what you're able to accomplish? What will it be like if you enjoy living in a more healthy manner and aren't able to maintain respect if your spouse, without this super helpful tool, isn't able to keep up? Will there be tension if you have more energy and want to do new and different things, going out more, trying new activities, etc.? Being able to be really honest about bad feelings can go a long way toward protecting against their effects.

    The best to you!

Just saw this thread... I have a wife as well! I just had bypass surgery 2 days ago and my wife is scheduled for 11/20. We had a bit of arguing at first over who would go first, over cheating on the liquid preop diet... lol. But glad that we will be there in the same boat with each other, knowing what's going on from first hand experience and being each other's accountability partner. I know if we weren't both doing this... we would have serious problems in our relationship! There would be a lot of fighting. Sad but probably true in my case.

MUAH! TY and how are you today? Any news? Is the cold all gone from your house? :D Leaving in about 11 minutes. So nervous. LOL.

Hope your appointment goes really well and you find out everything you need to know while you're there today!

Its FINALLY my big day!! And of course I woke up extra hungry and can't even have a stupid Protein Shake 😞 LOL I will make myself some black coffee I guess. Have to be at the hospital at 1130... will get there and tell them I'm ready for some drugs! So freaking anxious, woke up like every 2 hours after I finally fell asleep!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day today! 😊

@RNY-Fall-2017No real world experience, but I read EXHAUSTIVELY on the boards, lol! And many talk about how adding things to Water helps change the "density" of it and make it easier to get volume in. Now, I'm not much on sweet waterdrops...but, I do like weak flavored teas. So why not experiment with adding plain Water to things like Celestial Seasoning Apple Spice Tea (brewed) just to add a little flavor? Or slice a strawberry, or cucumber and mint, or a squeeze of some citrus into your water? See if that helps. Also, I do know that once you wake up your thirst, you will have more thirst! :)

@Aries331Oh! I'm so glad to hear about your class! I know my RD and surgeon's visits have been invaluable to me. So. Many. Questions. LOL! They gave me a binder and it's crammed full of notes. You are right though, it does help take the fear of the unknown out of things!!

Woke up this morning and I'm back down (230.8lbs this morning) to my published weight. My WL graph looks like a series of spikes with a downward trending line to it. I will drop down to a new first ever weight, then ALWAYS bounce up the next day and have to walk back down to the original weight. *sigh* This morning I'm 230.8lbs again. Which is surprising, cuz I ate like a racehorse yesterday. So hungry! And ate almost 1800calories and over 100g of Protein which I rarely do--if ever!

I'm so close to breaking into a new decade and it's only taken about 70days! bahahahahahaha! Depressing, right? I'm right at 24.6lbs weight loss since the first surgeon's visit. My goal was to lose 10% of my weight before surgery. I have about 1lb more to hit that goal. Yay, me! Right? I don't usually make goals. So it really feels good. And I haven't even gotten to the liquid diet part yet. But I'ma still Celebrate when I hit that thing!

Woke up this morning and read the Waiting thread. I'm feeling a great deal of impatience over not hearing back from the surgeon's office or insurance. I still don't want to call them cuz I don't want to get the PIA label from them. I know they would talk about me. But tomorrow can't come soon enough and I don't really know what I will do if I go in and they say they don't have any information for me or any plan to schedule me for surgery. I just have to remind myself that God's timing is perfect and submit my will to His timetable. I know I'll be able to handle it as long as I remember to do that. When I try to out-control a situation, things always go south. :(

Ok, well end of my pity party. Thanks for listening y'all! ((hugs))

On a bright note, it now feels like fall here! We got a cold front in overnight and it's nippy out! Yay!!!! More PT today at 1pm. The last for the week. TG!! So. Sore. All the soreness!

How is everyone today? How did our new surgery buds do with surgery? How are the more seasoned surgery buds doing? Spill it ladies!!!

That is great that you have pretty much reached your first weight loss goal! Congrats!! :) And sorry you're having to go through the misery of waiting and not knowing more info regarding your surgery date. I really hope you find out something when you go in to the office.

Well I am feeling so anxious I can hardly stand it! Just ready to get it over with! But tomorrow is the big day and I keep telling me that today will go by quickly. Trying to keep busy at work and not think tooooo much about surgery! Finally found out this morning that I am supposed to report to the hospital at 11:30 am. Wish I could be first pt of the day but oh well. I doubt I will even sleep tonight! LOL

Hope everyone has a fabulous day! :)

Your doing great! I’m going to start tuna soon too-that will help and I like the nasal B12 idea for energy! Can’t wait to watch your progress too! I’m 5’8”, was 242 & down to 221 now at 3 wks post op. scale hasn’t seemed to wanna move much this week.

Are you taking B12? I have some sublingual ones to start taking daily after my surgery. Hopefully that will help with energy some. Glad I decided to take 5 weeks off work cause I walk my butt off every day! I average 10K steps in my work day and around 12-13K by the time I go to bed! Gonna need time to build back up...

Not sure if your asking specifically me that question, but yes I am post op, 5 days. Feeling weak but still manageable. I am running a low grade fever. Going to see my GP tomorrow. Otherwise I work each day getting all my fluids. TMI: exploding diarrhea on 4 day post op. It was 6 day before having an actual BM. Felt better afterwards. Walking has been a challenge, it's very cold out, and with my fever, I just shiver.

Yes was asking you! And wow, sorry to hear about the fever and the chills, yes that would make it difficult to walk outside in the cold! Glad you are going to see your GP, try to get as much rest as you can. Hope you are feeling better quickly!

It’s hit & miss with energy, boy oh boy! Today I feel like I’ve been drained of all energy!?? I feel concerned at this fatigue! Are you experiencing this too?

You are post op aren't you? Are you feeling ok other than the decrease in energy?

Morning all! Off to the arthritis doc and the RD this morning. The PT intake went fine yesterday--she just said I had a LOT of strength building to do. Um, yeah.

@FL*Girl How are YOU doing? ((hugs))

@1badassbiggurl Hope you're feeling better today and that you got some rest!

@vanwest83 Why not drop your doc a note with a question? Or call? I think it's pretty common for our liver enzymes to go up while we're losing or while we're on the strict phase of the diet? This losing is hard on the liver. Hang in there...the liquid part is helping prepare you for things after surgery. If you go through carb withdrawal now, it won't be as bad post surgery.

    Have a good one all!

I'm hanging in there. I am staying hungry a lot, can't wait to get through this last week! About to make me an iced coffee shake again for lunch today then have a busy afternoon at work! Have a great afternoon! :)
