  1. Hi favor, sorry for the very late reply. I just saw your message. I'm still trying to figure out some of the aspects of this site.

The reason I decided to go with the band (rather than bypass) was that I wanted more control over the amount of weight lost and gain, hanging skin due to rapid weight loss, and long term health problems. I know of a couple bypass patients who have been very large and have gotten down to a size 4 or 6, and look terrible! That size is not for everyone, nor does it look good on everyone. I have always joked that my skeleton alone has to be a size 6. Add meat, fat, and bones and the smallest I should ever be is an 8. But, I really do believe that I have too large a frame to be smaller than that. But my goal is a 10.

I also work with someone that had bypass several years ago, she has since gained all her weight back. She also has many issues from the malabsorption including a hump back from osteoporosis, and severe hair loss. Because she wasn't banded, she never had the option of going back in for a fill when she started to get back into old habits and gain weight.

I guess to sum it all up. I was looking for a healthy way to lose weight, change my way of eating forever, help with portion control, and maintenance.

    Hope that helps!
