    • Sorry I haven't kept up. It has been a bit hectic. I had RNY on the 14th. Best thing I ever did. Starting weight was 279# 3 years ago. I was 231# at first Dr appointment, 211# day of surgery 221# day after. Lots of Fluid weight from IV'S. Today I am 190#. I had a 1 1/2 week stall at 194#. I go to Dr tomorrow for 6 week check. I have had several episodes of dumping. No fun. Still learning.

I was Type II Diabetic, High cholesterol, High blood pressure and was on meds for all. 2 weeks post op I was off all meds. I feel so much better .

Have you been doing anything exercise?

Your weight is basically the same as mine I had my RNY on December 29th I'm afraid I am having a stall right now. I'm 215 currently. I weighed 247 in my day of surgery. I feel awesome so I'm hoping even if i don't lose anymore I have helped my cholesterol level. I'm absolutely not regretting having the surgery. It was definitely worth it.

I’m not sure. It may be one of those things that lasts forever. My doctor said it was “negative reinforcement” for eating too fast. Guess I need to learn my lesson!

That sucks! I haven't been able to get much down today. I'm hoping that it goes away tomorrow. I'm afraid I'll get dehydrated.

Doctor seemed to think it’s eating too fast, too. I’m taking it VERY slowly now and choosing extra soft foods. Doctor called it a “learning curve.”

I'm having the chest pain too, how long does it take to go away! I ate dinner too fast last night I'm assuming. I'm going to have to eat by myself for awhile, I feel bad when it seems like people are waiting on me to finish eating. I'm fine when I've eaten by myself. I'm so glad I got on here this morning and saw the posts, I thought I seriously hurt myself or something.

It has been 3 weeks since my bypass surgery. I lost about 40 pounds since the date of my surgery. I find it weird that after 3 week I'm barely hungry. I sometimes eat 1-2 per day. Today I ate a small bowl of about 3-4 oz of oatmeal and I ate about 80% then at night I had some Soup. I would like to know from others if they are going through the same thing as i am? Those who had the surgery more than 3 weeks ago did your get hungrier each week or it just stayed the same.

Also I'm looking at what I want to eat, has anyone tried eating cauliflower rice or quinoa? which one should I eat and which one states better? Do you think I should be able to eat it even though it only been 3 weeks since my surgery?

I've had cauliflower rice, it went fine, I'm having the same issues with hunger as you, I'm 2 1/2 weeks out. My husband took me to eat for our anniversary last night I had broiled fish but I guess I ate too much, I ate 2 oz. of the fish and felt like I had to puke and had terrible indigestion. I took my Calcium tablet and my heart burn medication this morning and it came back. I'm hoping the feeling goes away soon. I feel like if I threw up it would make me better but I know my insides are still healing and I'm afraid I might tear something possibly. I was cleared for soft food, high Protein anything that can be cut easily with a plastic fork so I know it wasn't from eating something too hard. I am so uncomfortable now though. I'm hoping I don't get dehydrated today. 😕

  6. Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well! I'm amazed how good I feel, I did have a flare up of my Fibromyalgia this past Sunday I was feeling so good I forgot not to push myself. I'm feeling better now other than my arthritis. I go for my two weeks follow up this Thursday, I'm assuming my doctor will move me to the puree stage, I haven't had any issue with the shakes but I also have not experienced and hunger sensation. The smell of some food makes me want to have a bite, I was cooking bacon for my family and started crying, it was super weird but I was warned that may happen. Also good commercials advertising food bothers me a bit too. So far I've lost 20lbs since the day of my surgery.

  7. I went to a walkin clinic today because two of my incisions looked red around the outside and found out incisions were infected so now I'm taking antibiotics, other than that the pain isn't terrible, I've been walking quite a lot which is helping get the gas that is left from surgery. Hopefully everything continues to improve and I get my infection cleared up and don't have any kind of other complications, fingers crossed! Hope everyone has a Happy New Year! 🎉🎊🎉🎊

Got my sleeve yesterday. Had a rough night with a lot of pain and nausea. Not a lot of gas pains like I thought I’d have, but I am burping a lot. My nurse has been great with bringing me pain/nausea meds. How’s everyone else doing?

The gas pain is honestly the worse right. I had my TNT this morning. Hopefully everything will go as planned!

You got this.. breathe and don’t beat yourself up for nerves... I have an app called CALM it helped me practice slowing down and relaxing... good luck

I really appreciate the positivity, I'm so pessimistic and I have had severe anxiety isssues for years. Ugh.

Getting an anxiety medicine in the pre op area helped me relax. I was super nervous too! Talk to your nurses and medical team. They can help calm you down. They talked me through everything.
Bring several of your own pillows and a heating pad. The hospital bed is uncomfortable and my pillows helped me get more comfortable. The heating pad felt good on my back where most of the gas pain was. The gas pain was the worst part for me. Walk walk walk! It helps move the gas so you can get rid of it. I woke up with extreme dry mouth. Ice chips helped with that.
I liked ice chips, Water, and popsicles post op.
Bring loose stretchy clothes to go home in.
Be prepared to be sleepy for a couple of days. It takes a while to feel semi normal. Post op day 3 has been the best for me. I’ve been more awake, feel stronger, and able to eat more full liquids. I think knowing what to expect helps. Expect to tire more easily than usual for a while so lower your expectations as to what you usually do for your kids. I have 3 young children and it’s frustrating that I can’t go at my normal pace. Get as much done as you can before you have surgery, like laundry, cleaning, meal prep for your family, grocery shopping, and getting all of your post op liquids. My husband had been great at picking up the slack so let people help you. If you feel discouraged, reach out. People on here can relate and can encourage you. Good luck! It hasn’t been as bad as I had imagined.

Thanks! I will definitely be asking for anxiety meds lol. My husband will help me with whatever I need but I will be asking for help from my 14 and 10 year old daughters for help with my 3 year old son which they are good about helping with any way when they aren't all fighting with each other lol.

I had my surgery on Dec 20. Tips for days leading up: prepping helped me - getting things ready for after surgery.. I even bought new pjs for after surgery and slippers. Day of: I brought headphones and music to calm me down and that helped me a lot .. right after surgery - walking as soon as I could and often.. finding right med options for me.. they had orders for different type of meds so I could try different ones and use what actually helped.. they gave me Percocet and that was awful but tordahl worked great.. advocate for yourself.. walking ... slow sips and focusing on the fact that each day will get easier and now I am five days out and what’s helping is variety of liquids and walking every hour and thinking about what it will be like once I am feeling better and through this stage.. and biggest thing that helped was asking my caregiver a head of time for the type of support I needed- tracking and timing of liquids for a week and no I told you so or non positive responses if I express upset or doubt.. plus my period started day of surgery and so I definitely needed care and pampering ... pillows and a heating pad helped!! Good luck and you got this!!!

Thanks! Yeah I'm due for the dreaded monthly visit from Aunt Flo the beginning of next month, thanks for the heating pad tip, I haven't heard that before! ☺
