  1. I was sleeved 10/16/17, had the wonderful (sarcasm) 3rd week stall last week, scale didn't move for 6 days. Yesterday, finally down 2 lbs from where I had been all week, and this morning down 1 lb from that. I'm still on the puree diet which is getting pretty old, but it's part of my plan so I am sticking with it. Next week I'll be able to have soft foods, moist chicken/fish/turkey, etc and steamed vegetables, which I am looking forward to. Exercising regularly, having to buy new clothes (just enough to get me through the next few weeks, not a whole wardrobe), and getting comments quite often about how great I look. A friend of mine that I hadn't seen in about 4 months walked by me the other night and didn't recognize me until I stopped her, so that was pretty cool. Still have 65lbs or so to GW, but happy with the progress so far. The weight wasn't put on overnight, and will not come off overnight. It's a journey, and it's been a great one so far.

    Tired of the stall

Thanks @arringtonc49 for the advice. I'm getting the recommended water and protein, and will increase my exercise to see if we can break it!

    Tired of the stall

I'm with you. Currently in a stall as well, known as the dreaded "3rd week stall." I was sleeved 10/16. Things are still changing as clothes are fitting differently. I'm sticking to the plan and know that one day (hopefully very soon), the stall will break and the scale will move in the direction we all expect it to. Stay the course and believe.

    Stall

I'm currently in the 3rd week stall. The scale hasn't moved all week, however, I expected it and am just sticking to the plan. My clothes are looser fitting so I know progress is still being made. Just stay the course.
  5. In just two weeks I've reached the last notch on my belt and my slacks no longer fit!

    One week post op

Great job @jcb123! The journey has only just begun, enjoy it and stick to the plan! I am two weeks out and 18 lbs down. It feels great.

    bruising at incision sites

I had bruising around the incision above the belly button, and in fact, the bruising is still there. Surgery was 10/16 and I was told by many that the bruising is quite normal.
  8. Surgery was 10/16, down 16 lbs from surgery date. Feeling great! First day back at work, and found out that my slacks I wore pre-surgery are not possible to fit in now. Have to go shopping tonight for a few pair to hold me over for a few weeks. It's good to be able to see and feel the difference, even in a short time. Almost 70lbs down from my highest weight.
  9. Today is my first day back at work since my surgery 10/16. I thought I had thought about everything and returning to work, meals, protein, water, etc. One major thing I didn't think about was me getting dressed for work this morning and putting on slacks that I wore pre-surgery...they looked ridiculous and were entirely too big. It was awesome and stressful at the same time. Luckily, as I rummaged through the closet I found a smaller size that I kept for some strange reason, and while still a bit baggy, they were much better. Guess I'll need to get a couple pairs of slacks tonight to get me through the next month or so, then swap those out. What an awesome feeling to get rid of clothes for being to big for a change.

I had surgery 12th Oct and returned to online work (one of my jobs) after 12 days.

I did a one-hour home-consultation with a referral customer on the fifteenth day. (Fri Oct 27)

I returned to my Tuesday evening office job, a 1:45pm-6:45pm regular slot on the 31st (last Tuesday).

It seems we are on a similar pace with work.

(I'm officially retired ... July 2016 ... but I have a skill set in demand which means I get almost as much part-time and casual work as I want.)

Is your work full-time, part-time, casual?

I work full time, usually 8-4 in a professional setting, so slacks, shirt, tie, or polo daily. Today is my 5th day back and all has been great so far. Just keeping up on my liquids and protein. Thankfully, the owners are understanding and supportive so I can do as I please for the most part.

  10. Good luck to you @Bruno1966 and keep us posted. I’m almost two weeks post op so if you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

    Anxious

Tomorrow I go in for my labwork and EKG. I'm approaching the final steps of a journey that started 08/02/17. What hasn't been much time, sure seems like it has. When I started, I was doing it to appease my wife, my stepkids, and to give it a chance as numerous other diets and exercise regimens have come and gone. As I went through the process, the classes, support groups, etc. I find myself completely swallowed by the excitement and eagerness to get the surgery done and to get my life back! After every appointment, I'd always ask when the next opening was for the next step in the journey, would accept whatever time given to me, and never cancel or reschedule an appointment. No as I get to the final couple of steps, I'm hounding the bariatric department..."What's next?" "When can I see the nurse?" I'm excited, because at that time, I'll get a surgery date. Unfortunately I have to wait about a week to call the nurse to schedule my next visit, but I'm hoping for a surgery date soon. I'm following the 1200 calorie/day preop diet that was given to me, logging my foods, exercising, and moving around. I've spent countless hours reading blogs, forums, and watching youtube videos (cheers to @fighting400, you've been an inspiration). I just know that soon I'll have my life back. I'll be able to ride the rides, zipline, and participate in the treetop adventure courses my family loves so much. To see their smile as I can finally enjoy activities with them is all the reason I need to make this dream a reality. I'm prepared and ready for any obstacle, I will do this.

    Anxious

Hi Kel, Thanks for the message. I am happy to say that I am officially 8 days post op today! I had the VSG done on 10/16 and had a few issues that kept me in the hospital 2 days longer than expected. Even with that, it’s been an amazing adventure thus far. I’m able to get in my fluids and my proteins each day (still on a full liquid diet until Monday), and am moving around pain free. The incision sites are close to healed and I’m almost back to feeling normal. I’ve lost 12 lbs since surgery day and am learning new things and learning the new me every day.

    Scared senseless.... pre-op

I had VSG done 10/16. My SW was 283.1 and yesterday I weighed at 266.6. I’ve been getting my fluids and protein daily, and moving around as much as possible. Finally feeling normal with no head fog, etc. incision sites are almost healing, the larger one has a bit to go, and still some bruising, but can sleep on my sides and almost my stomach. Just trying to find some variety of full liquids between yogurt, soups, shakes, etc. You guys will do amazing, just stick the course. Walk as much as you can post op, but also listen to your body. Hydration is key.

    Scared senseless.... pre-op

Being nervous is expected as it is a major surgery. I’m a week post op and feel great. Even with some bleeding that kept me a couple days longer than expected, it was really a breeze and I’m so happy I went through with it. I’m still on full liquids for another week, but each day that goes by I feel better. You’ll do great, just trust the process and stay the course.

    Favorite Broth?????

In 4 days I had two very small sips of broth. The sight and smell of it was enough to make me almost vomit. Depending on your plan, I wouldn’t put much thought into it, just focus on water and sf popsicles. I bought 3 cartons of broth before my surgery last Monday and didn’t open a single one.
  16. Had my sleeve one week ago today and feel great. Each day is getting better. I have no problems getting my fluids in, and mixing up my full fluids to keep it interesting with creamed Soups, yogurt, etc. Protein Shakes are getting easier to tolerate each day as well. On day of surgery, I was 283.1, and this morning I was 266.6! Looking forward to continuing the journey

    October 16 sleevers

Lots of water, propel, and protein. The protein has been the hardest part as the shakes are way too sweet. This morning I did some Fairlife milk with Isopure Protein and that was ok, 43g of protein. I feel pretty darn good all things considered
  19. I was sleeved on the 16th and just got home this afternoon. Fear of internal bleeding kept me in the hospital two days longer than I had expected. Today is also my last day of clear liquids, which the only thing I’ve had since the surgery is water, 1/2 of a SF popsicle, 2 small spoonfuls of broth. Tomorrow I get to switch to full liquids so I’m hoping protein shakes will agree with me. Got about 60oz of water in today, and that is my main focus as of now. Not much pain or discomfort
  20. The surgery itself went well. The day of surgery and yesterday I was light headed or dizzy every time I stood up or sat on the edge of the bed. That started to wear off over time and last night I was finally able to move around, use the bathroom on my own, etc. I haven’t taken pain meds since the day of surgery. All in all, I feel pretty good, stomach muscles are just a little sore now
  21. Mine went well, pretty sore and haven’t been able to walk around because of dizziness and light headed whenever I stand or sit on the end of the bed. Looks like I’ll be here a second night
  22. Just arrived at the hospital, 40 minutes before my check in time, and waiting to get this going. Nervous, anxious, excited, you name it. Ready to do this though
  23. Good luck to all of us today! I just arrived at the hospital
  24. I’ll be checking in at 8am tomorrow. Prayers to all of us tomorrow and speedy recoveries!
