  2. Hello, you sound like you are on the right track. I too am going alone to Mexico with Dr Illan. My surgery is 10/28. The protein drinks are more tolerable very cold. I am on Day 5 of my liquid diet. Each day I have to eat a couple tsp. of toasted chicken breast to stop shaking. Other than that Im doing okay on it. The first 2 days are VERY tough. My surgery is Saturday so I will keep you posted on how everything goes as I experience it. That way you will know exactly what to expect. 4. Yes, VERY COLD turkey! Its rough but my hunger pains are worse! I originally thought that I may be overwhelmed with Pre Op diet and quitting smoking the same day. Im glad I was wrong! I have cravings fora cigarette.... but I just grab my phone or tablet and get my mind off of it. 51 year old woman VSG DATE: 10/28/17 5' 5" HW: 259 CW: 249 SW: --- GOAL: 135
  5. I haven't heard of that, what is it? Im on the 10 Day diet that my surgeon (Dr. Illan) requires for VSG Pre Op. I have lost 10 lbs. in 4 days. Surgery is 6 days away. [emoji4] 51 year old woman VSG DATE: 10/28/17 5' 5" HW: 259 CW: 249 SW: --- GOAL: 135
  6. That is a battle you will NOT WIN against BCBS. I know because I tried! I am now self pay. 51 year old woman VSG DATE: 10/28/17 5' 5" HW: 259 CW: 249 SW: --- GOAL: 135
  7. GNC has the clear protein drink. Im on a 10 day liquid diet, no food or veg at all. Im then on a CLEAR liquid diet night before surgery. It was AWFUL for the first 3 days! Now I am used to it. I lost 10 lbs in 4 days though 51 year old woman VSG DATE: 10/28/17 5' 5" HW: 259 CW: 249 SW: --- GOAL: 135
  8. At this time next week I should be recovering in my room Post Op. This is so hard to believe that its finally here! One minute Im happy the next Im scared to death. Its going to be a long week. 51 year old woman VSG DATE: 10/28/17 5' 5" HW: 259 CW: 249 SW: --- GOAL: 135
  9. Im with you... I LOVE appetizers and BREADS! Im not cooking FOR SURE, maybe next year.
  10. Oops I just saw the date. You will still be on a liquid diet. Sure would be nice if someone else agreed to cook!
  11. That would be tough! I would pre-prep as much of your menu as humanly possible. I would also ensure I ate prior to any prepping and cooking. Lastly, I would eat! 3 oz. of turkey, a couple ounces of vegetables and a tiny bit of dressing. As far as dessert, have a bite or two of pumpkin pie (no crust). I will be making healthier versions of Thanksgiving dinner and plan to enjoy it with my family. [emoji4][emoji173]️[emoji106]
  12. Will another challenge begin on 10/27?
  13. Scratch that... I will start a new one for winter [emoji4]
  14. LOL I ate like a total pig AND drank too much in the days leading up to the start date of this diet. Mine was a food and alcohol funeral! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  15. I have never been diagnosed with hypoglycemia, but I have always gotten the shakes if I don't eat. Today is Day 4 and it seems to get a little better every day. Im kind of bummed that I have not gone into ketosis yet! [emoji17] I figured out yesterday that it's because the sugar free pudding has 11g of carbs [emoji15] So that is the end of those! I didn't weigh myself before I started my Pre Op diet. I don't even own a scale. Maybe today I should go buy one.
  16. THAT is a great question! Lets throw in Thanksgiving (in USA) as well. How did it go? Did people pressure you? Did you cook? Did family support your weight loss? Etc...
  17. Can I start this next Saturday 10/28?
  18. I LOVE MY TESPO!!! Soooo easy and you get EVERYTHING in one little shot! Worth EVERY PENNY!
  19. I am PreOp, no smoking since Tuesday night. 35 year smoker a pack a day! Its hard but not as hard as the liquid diet!!! I ALWAYS want a smoke after I eat. So not eating eases the trigger. [emoji41]
  20. No [emoji17] I am scheduled for surgery the same day I arrive on Saturday Oct 28th.
  21. Great point! Its weird, I don't wake up hungry. Today is Day 3 of my liquid diet and Day 3 of no cigarettes. Today is better than the first two days! My one big issue is shaking. So I have had 1 Tbsp. of shredded roast chicken breast. That stops the shaking. I cant do that on Days 8, 9 & 10 though. This is VERY hard, I could never have imagined the level of difficulty.
  22. You are going to do GREAT!!! See you in the Post Op Forum
  23. That makes sense, but my issue is low blood sugar. That's why I keep getting the shakes. It isn't a will power thing. Im going to stick with what my surgeon wants and eat a Tbsp of chicken breast as needed. [emoji4]
  24. If I may, you look FANTASTIC and a 65lb. loss is HUGE. Please listen to someone who is honest and certainly is not obligated! Keep up the great job!
  25. Uh oh, I cheated. Im on a 10 Day Pre-Op Liquid VSG Diet (42 BMI). I was shaking so much I had a Tbsp. of shredded roasted chicken breast. I did the same thing yesterday. Is this going to screw anything up? My surgery is 10/28/2017.
