Skeptics can continue to unite...I have used this product AS MY ONLY Protein supplement twice daily for months. 1 in the morning on the way to work and once before bed. I manage to average 10 grams I'm my 3 other small meals. Seems my Doc wouldn't tell me I was getting too much protein if this product was bogus. This forum is for support not to scare people.

I was so concerned when I read this, cause I rely so heavily on genepro for my protein. I ran across this on a body building blog, seemed to answer things for me...
Genepro - highest rated protein on the planet
LARGEbagFrontWEB.jpgHey there guys. I am the Doctor/Genetic Bio-Scientist that invented Genepro and am the owner of Musclegen Research. Serving size is 1 Tablespoon = 30g of protein.. Here is a little about the product and the difference between Genepro and any other protein on the market. We are working with bodybuilding.com to carry Genepro as well as out other products..
What makes Genepro so unique is that we are able to reduce the protein molecule to half the size of normal protein through a process called Electrophoresis. This is a reverse electrical polarity method of extracting pure protein. In essence we take protein molecules that, for reference, are the size of a baseball. We push these baseball sized protein molecules through a Polyacrylamide gel (the gel stays below 87 degrees F) and introduce electricity through the gel. This process removes hydrogen ions, allergens and any fillers or binders so we are able to then bind the protein with a strand of six amino acids called a Hexapeptide which stabilizes the molecular structure. This hexapeptide increases shelf life of the protein as well as balancing the bitter taste that is present with the protein after electrophoresis and actually gives the protein a slightly sweet undertone. The protein is pushed through a filtration system and into a centrifuge which results in a pure protein molecule that is now the size of a golf ball (for reference). You may not be able to fit 30 baseballs into a shoe box but you can fit 30 golf balls. Thus giving us the ability to get 30grams of protein in a 1TBS serving size. This process also changes the caloritic count as well to 3.2 calories per gram of protein. The process as well at the hexapeptide are patent pending and have never been used before in nutrition (it's a genetic process that is used primarily in forensic science). The other interesting fact is that most protein supplements digest in the lower GI and whey is absorbed at only 31% so if you're "taking" 30g of whey, your body is only taking in 9g. Genepro is digested in the upper GI which eliminates gluten, lactose and bowel sensitivity and absorbs at a rate of 94% which makes it 3 times more effective than any other protein on the planet (medical or open market). Flavorless and odorless and can be mixed instantly in any food or beverage (hot or cold) without changing the taste or consistency. Truly the most complex and advanced protein on the planet. Each 1pound container comes with 3 empty, re-useable travel pouches that make it super convenient to use anytime, anywhere and in anything

I have used GENEPRO along with other Protein powders since my surgery. I had my labs drawn at 6 months and my protein was excellent! I only get about 20 Proteins with food since I cannot eat enough to get in 80 grams of protein. My way of thinking is if it wasn't working my protein levels would have been way low because I count it toward my daily protein intake. And I have had no Hair loss or any other side effects. So for the me it WORKS! And I will continue the use of Genepro. And no I don't don't work for them nor am I paid by them. Just my experience.

Please don't knock a product until you have tried it. Me and three other
sleevers all use GENEPRO EXCLUSIVELY daily. Love it in our soymilk and
in our Beans and cheese. It has been approved by our surgeons, and we all
are well within our normal Protein ranges up to 6 months post op.
I will continue to use this product and feel confident in its content.

While I get what the controversy on the whole 15-30 grams thing is all about......if someone does in fact have a product that can effectively amount to an end result of more absorption per gram than the others.....exactly how would you market it so the consumer can relate to the benefits. If it is not apples for apples, it can't be compared the same.
Example - Take a car that travels at 50 mph for a distance of 30 miles to a destination. However the engine is very inefficient and only gets 10 miles per gallon using 3 gallons of gas to get there.
Along comes another vehicle that is much more efficiently tuned and travelling at the same 50 mph, gets 30 miles to the gallon and only uses one gallon of gas.
Result - same distance, same speed 1/3 less gas. ergo: same grams of Protein, less product.
All I'm saying is, I get their principle and can use the product accordingly. If I get good results, I'll continue to use it.
Besides, everything else I've tried tastes like crap......and this is tasteless.

MommaScoggs reacted to Berry78 in Why do protein drinks taste awful?
I suffered through Protein Shakes preop. Postop, I just couldn't do it. My tastes had changed, and it just wasn't gonna happen. Stuff tasted like rat poison, and if I'd HAD to drink it, I would probably just opt for the rat poison and be done with it! Lol.
Fortunately, I didn't have to endure it. A cup of milk or Bone Broth has 8g Protein. A quart of milk, and a quart of broth each day, and I met both my liquid and protein goal in one fell swoop. Then I moved to high protein kefir, cottage cheese, and greek yogurt. Then pureed tuna and beans.. then on to solid foods. I never really had days that I didn't meet my goals.
If I'd stressed about the carbs in milk or kefir, it would have been another matter. But how I looked at it.. the first 8 weeks is for healing the tummy, and if it meant taking my carbs with my protein, then so be it. I have another year's worth of "honeymoon" phase to worry about cutting carbs and "doing it right". And you know what? I lost at about the same rate as everyone else. (Keep in mind, I'm talking about the naturally occuring sugars in milk and dairy products.. not a bunch of added sugar).
Sometimes people can't tolerate dairy, and that makes it much harder. Broth would have to be your bff if you can't tolerate dairy or protein shakes.

Thanks. And yes. I have worked out since 3 weeks post up. I had to because I had to strengthen my back to avoid back surgery. I do weight lifting 2 a week, swimming, nordic walking and I walk, everywhere. I average between 15000 - 20 000 steps a day. And I go hiking.

MommaScoggs reacted to rte837 in How long is food in your stomach?
I'm a Nuclear Medicine technologist and we do a study just to determine that! Typically, 90% of what you eat is gone from the stomach in 2-4%; that's the "normal" range. It is effected by what you eat, how much you eat and if you have Fluid at the same time. With RNY bypass, it's typically faster. I haven't done enough studies on "sleeve" patients to give you an average. Hope this helps.

MommaScoggs got a reaction from OmaJ in Trying to decide if I should just remove my band, or convert
For what it's worth, I had my band removed in 2014 as it caused my stomach to twist in a figure eight (gastric volvulus). I was given the option to convert but I didn't. I had so many complications with the band that I was done with any bariatric surgeries. Flash forward to now and because of scarring from the band, I HAVE to have the bypass surgery even though I don't want it. They may even remove the part of the stomach that they bypass.

So, I say go ahead. You'll probably have to anyway at some point.

Honestly, I have no desire to have the surgery. However, I have gastric volvulus and have no choice (and other than the volvulus, I am in great health with no heart disease, no diabetes, cholesterol is fine, etc.). I wish I wanted it, but instead I am very bitter at the lifestyle that will be forced upon me.
