smilinred got a reaction from pamastrologer in Looking for a buddy who understands regain.
Hi I am 12 years out of having my Roux-en-Y surgery. Things were great for 3 years then it went downhill fast and I've regained a lot of my weight back. Please don't lecture me on what I did wrong and how I was stupid and wasted this opportunity! You aren't in my shoes and haven't gone through what I have been in the last 12 years. And I already have been telling myself how I messed up.and am ready to turn it back around and re climb the hill and win at losing it. And if you are less than 5 years out and haven't experienced any real regain and have dealt with the following : depression, stress and deaths please don't lecture me. Even if you mean well, please don't.
I know I can do this, I just need to get started. I am here to get some support to get back on track.

smilinred got a reaction from FluffyChix in Band over bypass? Stretched pouch or stretched stoma or both?
I have gained back a considerable amount of my lost weight do to deaths and depression and bad eating. I wanted to see about a revision and now that I have insurance( had to pay cash for my surgery in 2005 ) so I went to a new doctor at Kaiser (my insurance). They had me do a upper GI test( had to drink barium and had x rays.) they said my pouch hadn’t stretched. I believe it cause if I am eating health foods like meats and vegetables I get full fast. But if I eat slider foods I can eat more. So just getting back on track by drinking Protein Shakes and having 1 meal a day at first.
So maybe start with seeing if you pouch has stretched.

Yes we understand about the about 20 bounce weight and what things we should or should not eat but if you read the post more closely, you would see they stated that death and stress and depression took over and they lost their way.
There is a huge difference from 4 years and 14 years. They get what they did wrong but it was out of there control and have checked and know that they don't have any damage or a stretched pouch. They are wanting to get back on track and was asking it anyone else was in the same place with regain as them and wanted to go through this new journey of losing it together for support.
Ok now that I have said that... BLISH message me when you can, I understand where you are at and how you got here...as I am in the same place as you and for the same reason !! So I get it!

I've NOT had my surgery yet. I'm due in two weeks. I did see my dentist recently and asked of any concerns. He didn't know of any reason to avoid the surgery. Take my Calcium so it's not leached from my bones and teeth...and keep up with preventative appts is my plan.
Maybe others will also chime in, but also, everybody's hygiene habits are different...some floss, some don't, some waterpik, some don't, some use elect toothbrushes, some don't, etc...so it would be hard to account for other aspects.
For me to knock out diabetes....I'm all in. Good luck in your decisions.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the group and excited about connecting with people in a similar situation. I had my surgery in 2003. I was extremely happy at 180lbs as I'm 5'10" so it was proportioned just right. Over the past 4 years I started gaining weight. Deaths, stress and depression just took over my life and I stopped focusing on myself. The bad news is I gained almost 100lbs back but the good news is that I just found out my pouch is still small and has no leaks. My tool is still functioning properly I just need to use it. I'm looking for anyone in a similar situation so we can support each other with this journey.
